You might say this should've been obvious,.but the burrito looked amazing and I think it would've been also, but the al pastor mushrooms were kind of sweet. I guess al pastor is always sweet? As a vegetarian, I wouldn't really know. If it hadn't been sweet, I bet this burrito would've been great. I think. Maybe I'll try the other vegetarian option next time. read more

As a longtime patron of Tacos Garcia, I was delighted when I learned that family member Miguel Becerril was re-inventing the restaurant as Tacos Lotería. As all members of our party of six will attest after last night's meal, Miguel and his team have hit the ball out of the park! It took me awhile to orient myself to the new space. Tastefully decorated with colorful paint, ceramic tile, and new furniture, it's nothing like the old Tacos Garcia. One of the most obvious additions is an attractive bar from which we sampled some creative and tasty cocktails. The service is excellent: attentive, prompt, and polite. The staff is very conscious of health protocols--everyone's masked, temperatures are taken at the door, and the place is clean as a whistle. It was also wonderful to see some of the employees from Tacos Garcia, including servers Carmen and Olivia. How about the food? Three of our group ordered La Steak, a perfectly-grilled habanero marinated skirt steak accompanied by green rice, black beans, and guacamole. The rest of us worked our way through the "Los Tacos" section of the menu, sampling pork, beef, tongue, shrimp, chorizo, and veggie tacos. All were delicious although this is where I'll make a suggestion. The tacos at Tacos Garcia were incredible, in part because of the generous servings--one needed a fork to scoop up the substantial amount of filling that fell out of the tortillas. This new kid on the block is destined for greatness!! The menu reveals authentic dishes with a modern touch. Service is warm and welcoming. The food is sublime. Flavors and artful plating tantalize your senses. El Elote was ridiculously good!! The flavors in the grilled corn blew me away. We ordered several different tacos and they were all great and all very low price starting at $3.50. Oh, the chips and salsa all house made were amazing. What we really loved is that they serve craft beer, one of them being from the only Latin owned brewery in America from what I understand. This place is a warm and welcome addition to the local neighborhood and I encourage everyone to give it a try because it's more than good, it's outstanding! read more

We order take out during the height of the pandemic last fall. Loved the owners story and wanted to support a local business and newbie on Armitage Restaurant Row. We ordered- Tacos de Asada (Housemade corn tortilla, red chile marinated steak, pico de Gallo). Solid, delicious tacos. If you're unsure of what to get, get these. Tacos de Camaron (Housemade tortilla, habanero marinated grilled shrimp, green mayo, shredded cabbage, pickled veggies, cilantro). I love a good shrimp taco and these don't disappoint. So good. Tacos de Chorizo con Papa (Housemade corn tortilla, pork chorizo, mashed potatoes, salsa verde, sour cream, queso cotija, poblano rajas). This was a delicious taco. Papas and chorizo are such work horses in the Mexican kitchen and these tacos were a great mixture of textures both crispy and fresh with the salsa. Tacos de Carnitas (Housemade corn tortilla, slow cooked pork carnitas, avocado tomatillo salsa, pickled white onion and cilantro). A staple and a good one at that. read more

In a city with tons of authentic Mexican food, it can be a bit hard to stand out. Tacos Lotería stood out with their nice ambiance, large, unique cocktail menu and their beautiful and colorful presentation. Food was overall fresh and delicious - though on the pricier end. Definitely a good option for a date night out, but for a late night hankering we will likely gravitate toward our other favorites with less frills. read more

We're always in the mood for tacos. Overall, we'd come back, but there were few hiccups with our carryout experience. Ordering from their site was easy, I live a menu with pictures, dietary cues and lists on ingredients. For a picky pescatarian, it's a godsend. I ordered 2 tacos and two empanadas, camaron, calabacita, queso & papa accordingly. Husband got two tacos, an empanada & rice, asada, carnitas taco and empanada. We had a few accuracy issues. The rice wasn't green as described; while good, it's something we would've skipped had we known it would be traditional Mexican rice. Worth noting, the cook on the rice was on point. We also ended up with 2 carnitas empanadas & no papa one; since I don't eat pork, I traded the wrong empanada for the rice. The empanadas were very good, but one thing that was tough is they look exactly the same. I bit into the carnitas one (box was labeled queso & papal and thankfully noticed right away before I ate any of it. The tacos are small; I'm usually a 2-3 taco person & worried that I might be ordering too much. These tacos, while quite delicious, ran small, so I recommend 3-4 for an average eater. Overall, solid food and there's a lot on the menu I still want to try. read more

Came here for a late dinner on a Thursday night and we enjoyed the service, atmosphere and food. They hit on all cylinders here. Home made red salsa was particularly tasty along with the unique steak tacos with carne marinated in a pepper sauce of some kind. Shredded chicken taco was really good too. For sides, the rice and beans are elevated too with the rice also being exceptionally good (Never thought i would comment on mexican rice but it was that good). We love the food here! The service is great and the ambiance is very modern and enjoyable!

We've been here three times, including as recently as last week. The food is very, very good - especially anything featuring their carne asada. The cocktails are great, too. And, their churros are bomb for desert. I note that a few reviews others have posted reference service issues. The first time we visited (early spring 2021), we had some slow service. But the second and third times we didn't have any issues, and it's clear that the owners/staff have taken steps to be more efficient/effective. My take is that they're coming out of the growing pains associated with opening during a pandemic. Overall, this place is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and we will be back soon. They have a maestro del mezcal, Valentin, who is amazing at suggestions and knows his stuff. Best place for trying out mezcals! Recommend taking sampler shots of most alcohols they offer. Am I in heaven? .. is what I asked myself after eating here last night. Homemade fresh corn tortillas are amazing, gluten free & do not tear apart when you're eating them. Vegan mushroom taco .. wow! - the mushrooms were cooked so well & paired with the spicy pineapple salsa, that went great with the mushrooms. The nopales (cactus) taco was unbelievable! The nopales was charred & had a slight smoky taste which gave the taco depth & flavor, and perfectly cooked black beans added a nice texture. The chicken Tinga taco was delicious too! I opted for no crema/queso fresco & in my opinion it didn't need it. The Tinga was so juicy & thinly pulled. The sauces on top of all 3 tacos was perfect for each one. I recommend ordering the chips & salsa. The chips are fresh, homemade & cut thin for dipping. It comes with 2 salsas which complimented each other well. The food tasted like it was truly made with love!! (Shout out to the female chef we saw!) The restaurant is very clean, beautifully & creatively decorated, latin music was lit, the staff was great & plenty of street parking out front. Atmosphere and ambiance was just right; with dim lights, brick walls, and even a pool table! Food was A1. I had the Platano appetizer, the chicken tamal, the taquitos de papa, a taco calabacita, a tostada de tinga, and the picaditas. Everything was phenomenal. Came in for some tequila shots with the bros and tried one of their buñuelos. The hospitality was very welcoming and the prices for alcohol were very fair. Whilst I was drunk enjoying the buñuelo, I couldn't help to be mesmerized by the intricate flavors and textures. Stop at this place for dinner. They have a large parking space at the front but no sign that says "Tacos Loteria" The place is rustic but the food is fresh and clean. The menu is extensive. They also sell "Aguas Frescas". I ordered, "enchiladas Rojas" and the two women cooking told me they just cooked the chicken and made the tortillas. The enchiladas were very well served with rice, beans, and guacamole. I had the "horchata" water which was very good. This place also sells tamales, masa, roasted peanuts, honey, and other Mexican delicacies. My only advice would be to use ceramic plates and real forks and knives. Upgrade the tables and chairs and add a nice sign for the entrance door. I do recommend this place. read more

Great new taco spot with a slick bar side (excellent drinks and cocktails) and a restaurant side. We ate on the bar side with a high-top table. Excellent service too - they are definitely doing everything to succeed. Food was really good with a selection of familiar taco names (asada, tinga, etc.) but each with a modern twist. The initial serve of chips and salsa ($4) was skimpy (hipsterish less-is-more?) but an additional bigger basket was brought after a request, and no extra charge. Flew into town last night after traveling all day looking for a good vegan restaurant. We thought our GPS was taking us to Ground Control vegan restaurant but brought us here. We had delicious guacamole, cocktails, tacos, and took home enchiladas, which was still phenomenal warmed up for breakfast in our hotel today. Even tried the little grasshopper garnish.....which was actually seasoned and tasty in a good way.
