It's a truck, but many of the better ones are, honestly. Tacos are amazing, and they're pretty fantastic here. It's dirt-cheap as well which is great. A big key to their success has been staying open late every day of the week, till as late as 4AM on the weekends. They pride themselves on being among the best tacos in Houston (#1) and love to showcase their chilango pride. To find them, just look for the blue truck in the Route 66 gas station parking lot along Westheimer. It's easy to miss for first timers, especially since they're not the only taqueria on wheels in the vicinity. Usually there are folks huddled around the truck during lunch time but the crowd tends to dwindle after 11pm. The waits are minimal and the staff is bilingual and friendly. While the $1.50 tacos sound like a deal, they're actually the smaller, two bite taquito (#2) versions instead. I don't mind them, even though they can be had for a $1 just further down the road. Of course they serve more than just tacos, there are sincronizadas, gorditas, burritos, quesadillas, and even hamburgers. Their claim to fame are their tortas, but it should be noted that they also sell machetes as well. The fajita meat is tasty. They've got one of the better variations that I've had along this stretch in west Houston and I would say the same for their campechano. Chicharron is also solid, as is their tripe. Their chicken and barbacoa is decent, but a slight departure from the rest of their meat lineup. I am fairly certain it's cash only. There is no outdoor seating and most everyone is doing takeout. The food was good, and the salsa had a nice mild spice to it. My only complaint was the portion size. If I'm paying over $18 + for four breakfast tacos and leaving a tip, I expect them to be filled appropriately. A couple of the tacos seemed to have more tortilla than filling, which was disappointing. Other than the portion size, I have no complaints. For first timers, the signage is nearly impossible to read at night. Folks who know the deal, don't have to look too hard since this is the only taco truck in the vicinity. Instead of ordering directly at the truck, parking the car in front of it will eventually lead to an older lady coming out to take one's order. It is cash only and if I had to guess, Spanish speaking only. Their primarily known for their rotisserie chicken and grilled meats (#2), which is often why there is a billow of smoke emitting from the top of the truck. The plato mixto ($16) features an a mix of various meats, but folks can stick to the 1/2 pollo at $9 or the whole thing (pollo entero) for $18. The chicken was delightful. It was covered in asado style onions and sliced jalapeños, and every bite was tender and full of flavor. Whether eating it with accompanied tortillas, charro beans, and/or rice, it was far more delicious that I could have hoped. No visit to a streetside Taqueria is complete without ordering some actual tacos. I ordered several meats, which included barbacoa, chicharron, campechanas, and good ol fajita. While the tacos didn't out outshine the chicken, they more than held their own. The barbacoa had a nice crispy bits to go with the fattiness and the chicharron had a nice texture and sauce to it. I thought the inclusion of raw sliced cucumbers was a little strange, but the salsas (both roja + verde) more than made up for it. I'm extremely grateful that they listed the prices on their menu. (#3) Lastly, people have complained about the service and the frequent mishaps. There's also a lot of music playing in the background, normally Bad Bunny, so orders aren't always clear at the truck.
