When your bestie says tacos, you head to Tacos Selene, even at 9 in the morning. Trying out a new location, but the tacos still deliver and still as delicious as ever--two carne asada and an al pastor makes for a great meal, once again. This location is set up very nice offering spacious seating and is very clean. On the corner of Santa Fe and 10th, it's a fantastic location. You know it's a good place when a line forms before the business opens. Take note, first Saturday of the month they open at 10am instead of 8am. Absolutely loved the food here. Super yummy and very much worth the price. The shredded beef tacos and the steak tacos were so yummy. The beans were also a large portion and yummy. Yummy food & quick service. I asked and they are a sister location to the original store in Aurora with a slightly smaller menu. Clean colorful dining area. Good choice of food items with a salsa bar and soft drinks. I got 3 soft tacos (Adovada, Carnitas and Chicharron) on doubled corn tortillas. I added a Jarritos Lime. I visited the salsa bar. I got a sample of their Pico de Gallo and Selene - hot. Very freshly prepared food and salsas. They have a men's & women's restroom. Limited parking on Santa Fe Drive, but can park in the buildings parking garage for free. read more

Authentic tacos at a great price! I came here on a Sunday at lunch time and we walked right up to the counter and were immediately served! The restaurant was casual, not super crowded, and plenty of open seats. I got the pork with pineapple, pork, and barbacoa. The barbacoa was definitely my favorite, although all of them were good! The tacos are $2.50 each and three of them filled me up. However some people might need four to fill you up, as they are small. The tortilla as double stacked so they don't break. They have a fresh salsa bar, but beware as the pickled onions are very spicy! Can't wait to come back and try a burrito! read more

Tacos for breakfast after a late night out. Yes, please! Tacos Selene does tacos right--simple, flavorful, and cheap! I've been to the OG location on 6th & Chambers, but this was my first time at the one on Santa Fe. Different vibe but same excellent quality food and service. They open at 8:00 am (except on the first Saturday of the month, at 10:00 am). Colorful murals and neon signs adorn the pink and green walls with starburst lighting. There was a line of people waiting to get in and order. My trio of tacos was great. Carne asada is still my favorite, and I love all the options at the salsa bar. This is a no frills, down-to-earth taco shop on Santa Fe. Been in a couple of times, and always order tacos. Thought I'd mix it up and ordered a torta. HOT DAMN. The milanesa with ham was excellent. Large sandwich big enough for two meals. Staff was polite and to the point, which I appreciate. The only thing that's difficult about this place is parking. This place was such a pleasant surprise! On our trip we stopped by Tacos Selene since it was located super close to our Airbnb and everything here was super solid! I loved the chicarrones tacos and the steak tacos. The horchatas were delicious as well! The hubs and I wanted to give this a try for a little while so put it at the top of the list the next time we were in the area. I went with the barbacoa sope and got two. They were decent sized but not too big. The shell was a little crispier than I've had and I prefer a slightly softer sope. But the meat was seasoned really well and the salsa bar had some awesome salsas. My husband got street tacos / barbacoa, asada and carnitas. They again were the perfect size and fit the ticket. I was very excited to try Tacos Selene as I have seen it in several lists for best tacos in Denver and has been recommended many times. I think it just got over hyped... I am always okay with Americanized Mexican food but if you are claiming to be a full on Mexican restaurant, then the expectation is very high. Anyways, Service: It's counter service and everyone that helped me pun was very nice. Ambiance: Very low key. There's a salsa bar which is well stocked and has delicious salsas. Specifically, the green one. Other than that, it is a very casual restaurant. The focus here is obviously on the food. Food: Honestly, meh. Maybe it's on me as I didn't try the tacos and got some sopes instead. I tried the pastor, carne asada, and pulled pork. They were all okay - nothing amazing and with so many new options out there, I feel like there's better places. I will give it another try to actually try the tacos and we will see. read more

I've been looking for a good, inexpensive street taco place for so long and am SO happy that I have found one. This place is clean and with an incredible salsa bar (to include pickled carrots/jalapenos/onions AND pickled habanero red onions)! Their street tacos currently run at $2 each. I attend school like 5 minutes walking distance from here and it's definitely my go to place when I don't pack lunch. It's cheap (coming from a college student) and very filling. They are so kind and super fast. The salsa table is always so clean and easy to grab from. Their horchata and hibiscus water is absolutely delicious and flavorful, not too sugary which I LOVE AND SO Refreshing! My go to order is the sopes bc they're healthy but the tacos and burritos are so classic and yummy! I will say they did raise their sopes from like $3 to $4 and their tacos from like $2 each to about 3or4 dollars (not too sure) in the span of like 2 months but still cheap considering an order of tacos anywhere else in downtown is like $20 for some wild reason. Food was SO GOOD!!!! I had a veggie burrito and first off, only $7?! It was super good and very filling. Great with their variety of salsas to try as well, which were all so bomb. Along with the limes being JUICY ASF!!! My friend LOVED her tacos as well, and we also ordered an Horchata which was also very good- little strong on the cinnamon but who cares. Ate every last bite. The service was great and the server even brought out extra tortillas for my friend super quickly. Oh yeah-- FREE garage parking too! This place is so fricking cute too. Hold up...why have I not been here?? This place is tits! I've been living down the street for over a year and kept putting it off. Finally gave it a shot and, sure enough, it's awesome. I've been missing out this whole time... They suggested the carnitas burrito. I think it was like $9. Honestly, it's one of the best burritos I've had in Denver. It was good size. I promise you will be so happy you did. Thank me later. 2. Barbacoa Taco: The meat is just killer. I'm sure you're noticing a Barbacoa trend here. 3. Al Pastor: The flavor of the pork and the pineapple? Absurd. I mean just look at the sauce in the picture below. 4. Carnitas: Tied honestly in 3rd--- this place just knows how to do pork. Not dry in the slightest. 5. Carne Asada: Most meh-- I would get any of the above over this. 6. Carne Asada Burrito: Steak was dry and burrito was as dense. You felt like you needed to dump it into sauce just to enjoy. Do not recommend-- but if you're desperate for a super cheap 'rrito this is it. The tacos are awesome. Street taco style for $2 each. No crazy prices. My go-to is the carne asada - can't go wrong. The Pollo is tasty too. I've tried the other proteins and the steak and chicken are my favorite. They come on corn tortillas with onions and cilantro. There's a cold salsa bar with plenty of toppings. I enjoy the smoky Chipotle sauce, pickled onions, pico and lime. I recently had a burrito. It comes with protein, rice, beans and salsa. They are moderate-sized, and perfect for a decent meal. If you are starving, you might want to order 2 burritos. The restaurant is clean, service friendly, and orders are up quickly.
