We seated ourselves at a booth since it wasn't quite busy and that just means more room for our food and drinks to spread out *teehee* The cocktails were amazing my cousin ordered the espresso martini which she loved they make the espresso fresh. I went with a gin cocktail that had coconut flavors something I would never consider with gin but if you read my reviews you know gin is my preferred spirit. It was so good! For two people we ordered three types of empanadas we probably could have gotten away with two flavors and maybe a lighter tapa or desert but really wanted to try the cheese and guava empanada and didn't want that to be a main option in case we didn't like it. Needless to say we really liked all three: picadillo, arroz con pollo and guava and cheese - the picadillo was the favorite however both for the inside flavor and the accompanying dip. Pricing is not bad I'd say the serving and size of the three empanadas for $14 is a great price.

Since then they have removed the plantain chips and still offer mashed plantains...and a very small serving. I ordered a cuban sandwich which was good but I guess I expected it to look more appealing on a plate such as with garnish. Since it was the middle of June it was already hot outside at a cool 105 degrees temperature. We were surprised to see the restaurant had the front door propped completely open letting the hot air into the restaurant. Since this is a small restaurant you really couldn't escape the heat. The heat unfortunately caused us to leave after a short while.

For the meal, we didn't know what to expect but the host was great at laying out each course as it arrived and the food came out perfectly timed. Even my 11 year old was eating foods I never thought he'd entertain trying! I'll be coming back and highly recommend the flan, the salmon crudo, and the steak with the Japanese sweet potatoes. Flavors…read morewere all on point and as expected from the components on the menu, which doesn't happen often in Phoenix. The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. Service was excellent and the patio was well-lit and had heaters ready for colder weather. Vecina is on the pricier side for sure, but you will not be disappointed.

Saudero tacos (a brisket confit suadero tacos with a chile jam, aguacate, serrano cruda, toasted sesame, fresnos and micro cilantro) We sat on the patio for a wonderful AZ spring evening. The service was great. I also enjoyed their extensive tequila and mezcal menu. The only downside is the parking -- it's pretty small and shared with Lou Malnati's next door!

They had upbeat music playing that gave the last touches to the place. The hostess was nice and so was our server. The menu was pretty easy to read and lots of options. They had a full bar as well as some mocktails which always brings a twinkle to my eyes! We started off with the plátanos with some crema and cheese and they were good. We decided to eat empanadas and so we ordered one of each, we enjoyed very much but the shrimp empanada was our absolute fav. The only thing I wish was that the potions were bigger, we had to order a few rounds of empanadas before we could fill up. For dessert, we had the empanadas (again, I know) with banana and coconut ice cream... omg so so delish! The food was good and so was our experience, they did ask for us to leave after chit chatting for a while since our table was reserved for someone else which I found odd since I saw plenty of other open tables but anyway, eye on how much time you spend there but other than that, it was a pleasant time, I must add, that it is pricey, so keep that in mind if choosing to eat here!

I live in the East Valley and very rarely make my way out to this part of town. It was my first time visiting Timo. The customer service was very nice here at Timo. The outdoor patio was beautiful and relaxing and had a lot of shade. The bummer was that we couldn't order any food because their kitchen was shut down for the evening. Maybe because they knew they were closing soon? I wasn't too impressed with my white sangria either. It barely had any fruit in it and was a little on the weak side. I love wine so it seems like a slam dunk , but my visit just fell flat. I met up with some other Yelp friends to have drinks, food, and celebrate two birthdays with some cake. That was the best part, the company! :) I went up to bar to order wine before happy hour ended. I asked which wines are on happy hour, was told any. I ordered one from the menu I had pulled up on my phone. Internet said listed that Pinot noir normally $10 per glass. I ordered two, one for myself and other for another friend who wasn't gonna make the HH cut off. Bartender poured the glasses, and I gave my card and he ran it, and then I saw it seems they were $10 a glass, which is same as the regular price listed on the Internet. So I don't know what happened. Either it wasn't on happy hour or the website is incorrect. Who knows. I was told there's no food coming out of the kitchen, however I could order a snack. I didn't even look at the snacks. The one person working the bar and dining area was pretty busy so didn't make sense to get too much ordered. I just decided if the kitchen wasn't open I would go elsewhere after my glass of wine. I was pretty hungry. Glad we had that cake! Maybe this is a cool spot, but that wasn't my experience so I don't think I'll drive over here again for this place specifically.

The weather was perfect and we were seated in the beautiful patio where we can hear the music and see the live flamenco dancers. Then..... it all went downhill from there! Once we were assigned a server, the service was rushed and hurried. Very transactional and not welcoming at all. The food was mediocre. The octopus was tough and rubbery. The peace and quiet of our patio table was quickly destroyed by a large bachelorette party that was seated right next to us. A few years ago we were introduced to Pa'La by one such friend and, as of writing, we have now introduced 5 different friends to this location as well. As far as this specific dinner I think Pa'La does a really good job of having inventive food combinations usually in small plate form. I always really enjoy the ability to order 4 or 5 different things just to try something new. On this evening we started with the Beef Tartar, the Asian BBQ pork belly, and the Japanese sweet potato. All 3 were delicious and easily able to be shared between 3 people. We transitioned into ordering the prime New York Strip and the Maitake mushroom to share. The steak had a very nice pungent but sweet glaze on it that went very well with the marbling of the cut. Finally, we had the strawberry chamomile tart which was a great way to cap off the evening! All in all a very nice meal, in a nice setting where we could all catch up for a few hours. Never once did we feel rushed or similar and our server was always very attentive. All in all, this was a great experience and highlighted the reasons we keep coming back.
