    Torta al pastor
    Brennan L.

I've heard good things about the tortas here, but I waddled away from Tacos y Quesadillas Mexicanos pretty unimpressed. I ordered a torta al pastor specifically because the textural idea was enticing. However, the end product was more or less one-note. The pork was tasty, don't get me wrong, but I wasn't exactly blown away. Everything was soft, from the bread to the meat to everything else inside. I would have loved for something, something at all, to provide more texture than occasional pepper here. Alas, it didn't happen. Look, the tacos look very solid judging from the photos, and it's extremely convenient for me, but I won't be getting another $7 torta here. Okay, I might try the cubana, but that's it.

How does such a small cart kick out such amazing food? The tacos are on-point as are the cubanos. Everything is carefully wrapped to-go.

I'm on the hunt for tacos lately... The tacos breakdown: 1) Soft corn tortillas - It is a standard corn tortillas. I had better and fresher tortillas. I appreciate that it was double wrapped. I wish it was hotter or it soaked up the juice of the meat more so it would bring more flavor....(ohhh...that would bring it to another level). 2) The meats (Beef, Chicken and Pork). I tried the following 3. They were all flavorful and seasoned. It was juicy. The meats were pretty solid. 3) Guac- It was pretty good. i wish there was a bit less of the guac on the tacos as it creates an imbalance in comparison to the other ingredients. 4) Sauces- The green (chili sauce) and red sauce (hot sauce) were very good. It wasn't overpowering, but made the tacos sooo much better. The hot sauce is mild so go ahead and pour some on the tacos. I recommend pouring a bit of both on each taco. 5) The small additions of the tacos - radish, cilantro and onions. I wish they had a bolder/fresher taste or more of it. It seems to get lost when you eat it due to the guac imbalance. 6) The tacos are priced $ 2.50. I couldn't see a price menu on the truck. The takeaway is that it is an okay/good taco. Maybe on a good day, it will be a 4 stars. But, I am searching for my 5 star taco. PS I been skewed by California tacos.

Its located right under the woodside subway station. they look sketchy because its under the bridge, but its very good. The carne enchilada, lengua and steak tacos ($2.50 each) were all very tasty. quick service as well. not the best i've had, but for the quick service and good tacos, i'll definitely come back.

Carnitas tort a with jalapeños. A damn fine sandwich!

Tacos and tortas are really good, I usually do chorizo tacos and carnitas tortas. Prices increased recently, tacos are now $3 each, while tortas are $7. The guy next to me was munching on tostadas and they looked just as good as everything else. They don't skimp on meat or toppings and have a nice green sauce. Also there are sautéed onions and green peppers in a jar you can add to your dish, another plus.

Had the tacos and they were excellent ate them right at the cart . So there were pigeons every where , the 7 train running over head and cars and trucks beeping on Roosevelt ave and it's the best restaurant I have eaten in for awhile ! Next time gonna bring a date ;)

Even though this vendor sells tacos pequeño (small tacos, 2-3 bites), they are $3-4 each, which is not cheap. For that reason, I can't give them 5 stars. It's quite pricey considering that most full size tacos are selling for about $4.50-5.50 nowadays on the streets, but double in size. With that said, I appreciate the smaller size for me to enjoy more variety every time I stop by. My favorites change from visit to visit, but generally I always get Suadero (roast meat), Campechano (roast meat & sausage), Buche (pork stomach), Cabeza (beef head), and Lengua (beef tongue). I also like the extra weird parts like Cesos (beef brain) and Ojos (beef eye). However, the texture is very mushy and definitely not for everyone. As accompaniments, for every two tacos you order, they also give you a long stem onion that is quite tender and delicious. On the down side, instead of the traditional lime and radish that most places give, Tacos El Borrego offers lemon and cucumbers. I'm not sure why, except maybe they are cheaper options than the normal garnishes. Also, don't forget the flavorful green and red sauces on the table if you are eating there. Otherwise, ask for some to go. I miss the days when our group of friends would get a few tacos late at night after a party or night out drinking. The prices are no longer the same, but the food is still perfect for sobering up while having some laughs on the streets during the warm months. I think back to those days fondly whenever I'm at a taco stand nowadays, and Tacos El Botrego is one of my favorites in NYC.

It was my first time having Chinese BBQ cart skewers and I was an instant fan. I've gone back a bunch, taking other people with me. By far my favorites are the lamb, pork, and enoki mushroom, ordered spicy of course. The lamb is so tender, and the mushrooms are just so fun to eat. They're slippery, they are hard to chew, they don't break apart, they get stuck in my teeth, and I end up swallowing large bites which are covered in that spicy sauce and make me choke and...I just love it! I can't explain it, there's something about the chewiness and heat that while inconvenient, I really enjoy. The beef is also solid. The squid is OK. The chicken gizzards are not bad, I'm still developing a taste for them but they are not overcooked and tough here. The only thing I'd say to skip are the shrimp, they come out with their shells still on and are just rubbery. Cash only, if it's not obvious. If you buy something like $20 or more they give you a free soda. They have some stools set up if you want to eat it right there, but they're usually under the awning of New Golden Sparkling market and well, there's a lot of birds and bird poop there. I would just walk with it. There are lots of BBQ carts up and down Broadway, but I think the meat here is the best (not tough or fatty), and the service is always great. The main guy manning the grill doesn't speak too much English, but there's usually a younger guy helping him who does. Even without the help, ordering is easy, you just say the type of skewer you want, how many, and if you want it spicy. If you're really struggling, point! But it's never come to that.
