Located in the seedy underpass beneath the 61st St train station, Tacos y Quesadillas Mexicanos feeds the taco hungry masses both day and night. Their variety of taco meats is decent for such a small cart and the prices are on par with just about every other vendor taqueria along Roosevelt Ave. In terms of sabor (#1), they are solid. Most of the meats have that distinct pueblan feel to it, especially the carnitas and the seasoning of the diced up chorizo. For almost all tacos, they're quick to outfit it with sliced radish and creamy salsa verde / watered down guacamole, in addition to the usual onions + cilantro mix. The cart itself is surprisingly manned by a couple of people at a time, despite not being all that robust and for seemingly appearing in a spot where rainy days and Woodside muggings wouldn't be much of a factor. The bright lights are a nice touch and their proximity to occasional tamale and bread vendors are a bonus. Beyond the tacos, go for the quesadillas. If they have lengua, which is already in limited availability, ask for it in quesadilla form. It will be the best thing you've eaten from this cart by a mile. They are also skilled in the arts of a quality cemita, torta, and huarache. Underneath the Woodside-61st Street subway station is a Mexican food cart that has been there for a long time. They are there until very late at night and serve amazing. authentic Mexican food. I especially like their tacos, cemitas, and tortas. You can choose these items with beef, chicken, chorizo, tongue, carnitas and more! The flavor and spice in their food is a million times better than most of the fancier pseudo-Mexican places you find in Manhattan. I highly recommend this cart. I ordered a torta al pastor specifically because the textural idea was enticing. However, the end product was more or less one-note. The pork was tasty, don't get me wrong, but I wasn't exactly blown away. Everything was soft, from the bread to the meat to everything else inside. I would have loved for something, something at all, to provide more texture than occasional pepper here. Alas, it didn't happen. I am always excited to visit this taco truck and tonight I craved something different. I decided to order the milanesa de res. I will honestly say that i envisioned a delicious experience. However, my experiemce was extremely disappointing. As usual I called 10 minutes ahead to place my order. Upon my arrival, my meal was ready and packed. When i took that first bite, i knew something was seriously wrong. My taste buds were not thrilled, i tasted mostly the black bean spread, the meat was thinly sliced but it was very tough and way over cooked. To the point that the beef itself had no taste. I asked for jalapenos in my torta and they forgot to put them in. My torta tasted mostly like black bean paste and nothing else. The whole sandhich felt greasy. Having tried the milanesa de pollo, torta cubana and now milanesa de res. I was very sure that the milanesa de res would be a hit. I now know that i will not be ordering it in the future. The truck has killer tacos but thumbs down for the milanesa de res. I asked my self "Where is the Beef"? I will stick to checking out the rest of the menu. My last meal in four days of running up and down the #7 train line in Queens hunting great food is right here at a simple cart. That moment when you don't even bother thinking about checking the rating on place before making a decision to eat. I mean, after all, isn't that pretty annoying? Yea, sure, I do it plenty, but I took a chance here and absolutely scored. Little risk, really. There are *so* many good eateries within a few blocks of here that if you aren't good you're gonna get your butt handed to you on a platter. Three tacos to go, eaten standing up (Tip: spread your legs wide). Pollo with a splash of avocado, carnitas and beef. Double wrapped corn tortillas, sprinkle of onions, cilantro and a couple of limes to squeeze onto each. Simply a mouth watering experience. Fresh, clean, bursting with the complicated goodness that a taco provides by mingling the protein of the meat with the burst of onion scent, the aromatics of the cilantro, the citrus burn from the lime, a touch of sauce. A match made in heaven. Finishing the last bite I wiped my fingers on the single napkin provided, dumped the sack into the trash and slung my bag over my shoulder and headed to the bus that would take me to La Guardia. As an ever so slight rain hit the bus on the way to my flight I was already missing the phenomenal food experience that is Queens. My work here is done. I'll be back. read more

I tried this last night and have to say I stopped searching for authentic Mexican in NYC 3 years ago, but this is a must try for those who have grown up with the real deal. I ordered a chicken and a beef tongue, though I have had better beef tongue in California this was perhaps above average and rather tasty. Nothing bland here or overly seasoned, the young women are seasoned chefs. Also, the green chile sauce is spot on. I love tacos, I love burritos, but what I love most of all is a cart or truck that has quality and spicy burritos and tacos and other quality Mexican dishes on the cheap and available late into the night. This stalwart truck nestled under the 61 St-Woodside LIRR and 7 subway line is as good as it gets when it comes to cart food. Everything I have had there is delicious from the Carne Asada tacos to the chorizo burritos. They have tortas and many other Mexican street foods but I have the things I like and try and sample all of the various incarnations of the burrito and taco. They also have a pretty wide variety of meat fillings for the tacos. I'm on the hunt for tacos lately... The tacos breakdown: 1) Soft corn tortillas - It is a standard corn tortillas. I had better and fresher tortillas. I appreciate that it was double wrapped. I wish it was hotter or it soaked up the juice of the meat more so it would bring more flavor....(ohhh...that would bring it to another level). 2) The meats (Beef, Chicken and Pork). I tried the following 3. They were all flavorful and seasoned. It was juicy. The meats were pretty solid. 3) Guac- It was pretty good. i wish there was a bit less of the guac on the tacos as it creates an imbalance in comparison to the other ingredients. 4) Sauces- The green (chili sauce) and red sauce (hot sauce) were very good. It wasn't overpowering, but made the tacos sooo much better. The hot sauce is mild so go ahead and pour some on the tacos. I recommend pouring a bit of both on each taco. 5) The small additions of the tacos - radish, cilantro and onions. I wish they had a bolder/fresher taste or more of it. It seems to get lost when you eat it due to the guac imbalance. 6) The tacos are priced $ 2.50. I couldn't see a price menu on the truck. The takeaway is that it is an okay/good taco. Maybe on a good day, it will be a 4 stars. But, I am searching for my 5 star taco. PS I been skewed by California tacos. read more

Tacos and Quesadillas Mexicanos is a food truck right under the 61st street Woodside station with tacos, quesadillas, tortas/cemitas and select rice dishes. Prices are definitely affordable and they're always open for a late night snack. Food quality is spotty. The stand is clean and has lots of lights, which is definitely appreciated as the area under the station can get dark before the street lights turn on. Service has been friendly but they can be a little slow sometimes. I know other people have had really good experiences with their food but both times I've gone have been lackluster. I've had the spicy pork torta and the chicken quesadilla. The spicy pork torta had really good flavor in the pork and beans but the veggies (lettuce, tomato, avocado) were very limp and drenched in mayo. The cheese was also a strange white plastic-like cheese and not the stringy Oaxaca type. The avocado was also extremely oxidized. The chicken quesadilla was dry, chewy and did not have melted cheese. I would not order this again. All in all, while this stand might be good for a late night snack run and I am definitely planning on giving the tacos a try, it's hard to give this stand a higher review for now. read more

When it comes to tacos in Woodside/Sunnyside area, I would say this is the 2nd to Taco Rey De Oro underneath the 52nd train station. The prices are a little bit higher and they are a bit inconsistent. I've had a couple of tacos from here that were dry and some that were outstanding. I would recommend the bistec(beef) and carnitas(pork). I believe they are open almost 24/7, I see them almost all day long from morning commutes to late night encounters so kudos to them. read more

The guy next to me was munching on tostadas and they looked just as good as everything else. They don't skimp on meat or toppings and have a nice green sauce. I was going to give it only 4 stars because I'm not the biggest fan of the type of food I ordered, as I was trying something new, but by the time I was done it grew on me and I was a huge fan. The food seemed super fresh, juicy meat, not all dried out. I tried the carne enchiladas tacos as someone recommended, and it was very good. Quick service even though someone was picking up 3 huge bags worth of takeout right before me, so even just seeing that you gotta know they are good. The closest "authentic" truck to my house. I've had tinga (the chicken kind) in the evening before, but this morning I had a package to pick up and so I had to try them for breakfast. Whoa. This humble taco cart sitting beneath the Woodside LIRR and 7 train station turns out some phenomenally and reliably good grub. It's yet another reason that I feel like I've hit the food/bar lottery living in Woodside. I usually get an el pastor, tinga, and chorizo taco and ask them to make it "picante" which means they'll throw some extra chilies on while cooking it up. Plus they have some pickled jalapenos and dried chilies de arbol that you can gussy up your tacos with. I get mine to go and house them at The Dugout around the corner on 61st. read more

After reading so many great reviews on yelp about this truck, I just had to give it a try. Its only about 3 blocks from my house and last night when my fiance and I got hungry around midnight I decided to walk down to 61st street and give this truck a go. Well, Im glad I did because this place has some reeeaaally good chicken burritos and steak quesadillas. The portions are great so I ate half of the burritto last nigh and the other half today for lunch. Im so glad to have found this truck especially since its so close by. I definitely will be going back for more....maybe again tonight :) read more

Best taco cart in NYC. I've travelled all up and down the 7 line, from Corona to LIC and this is still my favorite. Huaraches fit for bigfoot. Carnitas, chorizo and carne enchilada are all the best I've had. The cemitas are good and also enormous. You need a place to eat it, though, as everything is a bit overstuffed. If you don't live nearby, there are a couple of pubs on 61st that don't serve food and always let me bring it in. I make excuses to go back to Woodside so I can grab a meal here. read more
