Ok yes the tacos are not the best in the world... but considering the location? This is pretty pretty good, given that it's in Manhattan (a place not known for great Mexican food). A food truck right next to the subway in the upper west side, food is all cooked to order, and kept very well on my commute home to lower Manhattan. I liked that they had so many options for tacos, my favorite was La lengua (very flavorful and not dry). A few tacos had meat that was a little dry, but I was here at 9 pm so I wasn't expecting something out of this world. The burrito al pastor was GREAT. It was huge and had lots of filling. Cash only. The quesadilla is interesting, it had cotija cheese, lettuce and sour cream, which i was not expecting but it was a nice surprise, and my toddler enjoyed it so that's a win. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this, but if i was in the area again, I would get it for a pretty solid and yummy dinner. We paid $40 for dinner for 3 people and still had leftovers. read more

Not bad! For a quick, close place to grab some Mexican food it's worth trying. We ordered steak nachos and 4 tacos - Al pastor, carnitas, birria and chicken tinga. The steak nachos ($10) were great. They were loaded with beans, cheese, onions, jalapeños, lettuce, crema, etc. The tacos ($4 each) were okay. They were a bit dry. They were missing the onions and cilantro you often get on tacos. $10 burrito! As you can see in the photo, the burrito was pretty full. It was very flavorful and I also asked for salsa verde on the side. My only complaint is that they didn't give me much Al pastor / meat and I believe it was majority of the fat. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but definitely wanted more of the meat part. What a great find in the UWS! No American Taco Bell tacos here!! This food cart offers authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices. I stopped by during lunch and there were about 5 ppl ahead of me, who had already ordered and were waiting for their food. The two ladies making the food waved me over so that I can order. I placed my order and was expecting to wait a while for the food to be ready, but surprisingly, the food was prepared fresh, tasty and fast! They offer a variety of options ranging from tacos, quesadillas, torta sandwiches, etc. I ordered two tacos - one spicy pork and one chorizo. Both tacos were fantastic! Lots of tasty filling and they each came with a wedge of lime. I also asked for hot sauce, which looked incredibly spicy but were actually just mildly spicy. Taco's are $3 and quesadillas are $6. Strangely, prices are not posted, so best to ask for the prices of the other items before ordering. Service was friendly and fast. I would definitely return to try some of their other menu items. So far these are the best tacos I've had in NYC. I've been spoiled with Mexican food when living in CA so I have been desperately trying to find a place that will help tame my cravings for it while living here -- and I've found it. It is a small truck usually located next to the Chase. I only get the tacos so I cannot comment on the other food items. I've tried their Al Pastor, Carnitas, Chorizo, Bistek, and Chicken; all of which were great. The tacos are around $2.50/each, not bad at all. On top of the tacos, however, they do have a very wide menu; i.e. tortas, quesadillas, burritos, cuban sandwich, etc. They also sell drinks, including Jarritos but no Agua Frescas. If you get them with everything like I do, the tacos come on corn tortillas, the protein of your choice, onions, cilantro, avocado/hot sauce, side of radishes, and limes (sometimes lemons). You can either eat the tacos at the truck or take them to-go. If you take them to-go they do a great job at packing them individually on perfect sized plates, so I've brought them back up to ColumbiaU once and they weren't soggy/falling apart like other tacos I've taken to-go have been. If you eat there, like I usually do, then there isn't much room on the counter to put your drink on nor do you want to block the line/menu for the other people so you end up just trying to eat up quick. When you eat at the truck they have you pay after you've enjoyed your meal, whereas when you take it to-go you pay up front. They do offer some side items at their counter as well; i.e. pickled sliced onions w/jalapenos and pico de gallo. They also have 2 types of hot sauces if you ask. The plus points end just about there. There was absolutely no flavoring to my so-called carne asada burrito. I would give them 3/5 because their food is OK, But they are really slow, the employees are jerks, they swear at you, and talk disrespectfully about you in Spanish if you don't look Mexican. I speak Spanish, unfortunately. They also take Mexican customers' orders after you, but make their food before yours. They make everything to order, so you're going to stand there for about 5 minutes. If you smoke cigarettes, you'll probably encounter two homeless people asking you for a cigarette during that waiting period. The burrito here is $6.50, the platter is $8, and the tacos are $2.50. Not bargain prices, but fairly reasonable for the area. I ordered the taco once and the guy gave me a burrito. The burrito was pretty good - filled with a good amount of chicken, rice, and beans. Throw on some of that green sauce and it's a spicy medley of Mexican goodness in your mouth. I haven't tried the taco yet, so I might return for that one day. I did order the platter another time, which at $8 seemed a bit pricey. He told me it was more food than the burrito, but I found it to be mostly lettuce, tomatoes, and other vegetable fillers that I don't care for. I don't recommend the platter simply because I can't see why it costs $8. This place is nothing like the California taco trucks, but I guess it's unfair to expect it to be. Overall, just seems like a typical food cart that sells tacos. The guy told me they open at 11AM and close at 3-4AM depending on how many people are around. The best taco in the area. Ok.....not the best in the city, but I cannot help giving them a 5 star just for being here in the Upper West Side. They do serve the best taco within 30 blocks of the lower UWS. Food options are limited in the area and they open from 11am till late (10pm ish...but things do run out) They people that work there are nice and food is just spot on. I've really only sampled their Tacos but my vegetarian boyfriend tried pretty much everything and love every bite of it. (They don't list vegetarian option but they will make a vegetarian anything. My favorite tacos...Lengua (Beef Tongue) & Carne Enchilada (Spicy Pork). Another fellow foodie who helped translate my pathetic Spanglish order to Spanish recommended the Al Pastor (Roast Pork) Do note that they are very meticulous and the order will be made fresh but takes a little bit of time. I've been long sick of the food the UWS has to offer and am never excited about lunch time. I remember seeing this stand once while walking to the apple store, and immediately did an internet search of it to make sure it's a permanent stand. This place (sorta) hits the spot. Someone told me that it was near impossible to find cheap and good Mexican food in New York, so I'm glad this food cart exists! I've been here two times, and we've only gotten the burritos ($6.50 each) because we are burrito people. But they are quite amazing. Steak, al pastor, spicy pork (not spicy at all!), and carnitas, all have been delish. I personally recommend the al pastor and spicy pork.
