Right off the top, this is not a place for the feint of heart. The restaurant is small and when we were there was no air conditioning. It is right on East Colfax and all sorts of colorful characters come walking off the street. As for general sanitation, it is very poor. You have walk right through the kitchen to get to the bathrooms. In addition, they store a lot of their ingredients right on the floor. The cooks do not use hair nets. I am surprised the Aurora Health Department let's them work this way. Having said this, the tacos and salsas are some of the best that you will find in Denver. They have been able to re-create the high quality tacos that one finds in Mexico. For those who think "El Taco de Mexico" is the real thing, come to this restaurant and learn what real tacos are. In addition, the portions are generous and the prices are economical. Once again, these are some of the best tacos you will in Denver. It saddens me that people who make such good food do not care about issues of basic, general sanitation. If they could get control of this aspect of their business, Taco y Salsas has the potential to become a real Denver food landmark. Unfortunately, the owners of this restaurant and there own worst enemies. I look forward to visiting the other two locations and hopefully they are better run. read more

Well, after being on my own personal taco tour, I've found that, even though the salsa bar is super cool, the tacos have a bit too much meat for me. And I've had a few tacos here where the meat is fatty and chewy. So that combo, of overstuffed, fatty tacos, it's just not kncokin my socks off anymore. read more

I broke my back tooth eating a rock that was in the burrito. I informed them that I found a couple of pebbles in the burrito. The cook came out and collected the rocks and refunded my meal. He stated that rocks end up in the beans every now and then. At first I thought sand had gotten into the meal also, but then after the weird feeling I got from rubbing my tongue on the tooth, I realized it was pieces of my tooth. I asked them to pay and the manager / owner never called me once! I hate writing bad reviews but I wanted to warn people reading this. If you eat here please chew cautiously! They did refund my meal which was great but never returned any of my phone calls when I wanted to have them pay for my dental repair. If proof is needed I can upload my dental bill just to make my point. If the owner ever wants to call or meet me to discuss this matter any further I will be more then happy. The owner is difficult to get in touch with and his employees seem to never know when he is going to show up to the store. I refuse to waste anymore of my time driving back and forth to Tacos Y salsa. I did that twice and both times the employees said the owner was not available and he was in Mexico. I'm just glad I didn't chip my front tooth. I would hate to be reminded of that place every time I look into the mirror. read more

They have a nice little salsa bar I tried a few but can only describe by color but very delicious.. Put a lil salsa and squeeze a ton of lime juice then enjoy! This place was awesome! I loved the painted tables and chairs. Service was very friendly and accommodating. You definitely want to go for the tacos. Particularly prepare to have your socks rolled up and down by the chorizo tacos. There are a selection of salsas you can have in the back corner. They are not marked, but range from mild to nuclear. There was a red one, I think they call "Diablo" that was hot, but tasted great with the chorizo taco. I recommend having a Mexican Coke as well to cool the flames in your mouth. read more

On our way into Denver from the airport, I pulled up Yelp to help find a place to grab a quick bite to eat. As fate had it, we were driving down the street and Tacos y Salsa came onto my radar. I ordered two tacos and my boyfriend went with a torta. While we were just looking for a bite to eat to hold us over until dinner, we left stuffed. The food was good, albeit a bit greasy. This small joint on Colfax has a variety of Mexican entrees on their menu. In all honesty I've only tried their tacos. My favorite are Asada and Tripas, they cook the meat just how you want it. This place gets somewhat crowded on the weekends so we always order to go, doesn't take away from the experience because the tacos are great! I came here in the mood for Carne Asada tacos. After seeing the long list of different types, I tried the Adovada, Al Pastor, Carne Asada, Barbacoa, and Chicken tacos. My verdict: Average. The best taco was the slow-cooked Barbacoa that tasted like a delicious Mexican variation of pot roast. As for the Al Pastor (marinated pork), it was alright. The chicken and Adovada (carne asada with chipotle sauce) were my least favorites. The Carne Asada was standard. I did however, enjoy their salsa bar. The place did not feel very clean. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally decided to wander in for some take-out, though I wasn't sure what I wanted to eat. I settled on a torta with pork tenderloin. The pork was very tender and the torta bread was a little crispy on the edges, just like I like it! Oh, and the sandwich was fricken HUGE, and only set me back $6.50. I snagged several of the perfectly roasted jalapenos from the salsa bar to eat with my sandwich and was honestly a little surprised at myself when I was done. I should have stopped at half of this monster sandwich, but ended up coming back for more because it was just too damn good. I can't wait to try some of their other food! read more

I'm not a big fan of going out to eat Mexican food since i could just make it in my kitchen but i really enjoy going out to eat some tacos from here because they're always so food and cheap. Most Mexican restaurants are little to pricey with their tacos and only get 4 in a order but here they give you 5 which is even better. It's never too busy which is great since it is a small place. They don't take too long to make the food which is another plus because in other places i have been too they always take forever. The servers are also very nice and not rude. Just one thing that i would like to see change is that when you order tacos al pastro you have to go outside and get them just i wont mind during the summer but in the winter its too cold to go outside they should change that somehow because other than that i really enjoy coming to eat here. read more

My wife and I love visiting Tacomex on east Colfax but one day we decided to try another highly rated joint. Tacos Y Salsas did not disappoint. The handmade corn tortillas put these tacos over the top! I had the Pastor which were delicious, and the salsa bar is awesome. The place is pretty tiny so getting a seat during peak hours could be difficult. My wife loves the longanisa at Tacomex which are not on the menu here so we will continue to frequent both restaurants. read more

Just take a look at the salsa bar. It is clean. The containers are full of fresh good things. Light red, dark red, light green, dark green, grilled jalapeno peppers, cilantro, onions, radishes, etc et al. The chairs are all hand carved and hand painted works of art from mexico. The back of the house cooks amazing food. the front of the house is beautiful and kind. The value is undeniable. So many good tacos, the burritos are good too. The neighborhood is rough, lock your car doors and don't engage any pimps, prostitutes, or drug dealers in conversation or eye contact. Just park, try not to step in gum (LOL seriously look at the ground around the entire building), then get inside to the safe warmth of tacos y salsas.Delicioso! read more
