On my heaven what a fantastic greeting from Yumi when we walked in the door!! Things only got better from there. she had the wine that we enjoy and then we got right to it. They waste no time in taking your order and the food is out pretty quickly. This is amazing food and the flavors are unbeatable. We had some Wagu beef and some chicken meatballs both were delicious. All of the employees are very friendly and they take great care of their customers! We love this place and can't wait to return. The atmosphere is a fun and welcoming place. Thank you so much and see you soon!!

Amazed to find the best partake of Shabu Shabu ever. Enjoying the family find downstairs in the old postal building downtown was very mystic. Additionally, the hostesses personal interaction with our group was so epic. Thank You

3.5 stars. The restaurant is within the basement of the old post office. We arrived at 7:30 PM for our dinner reservation. The building itself is closed, so you just have to call the owners to let you down the freight elevator. Try to have your party arrive together so they don't have to do multiple pick ups. Inside, we sat at the counter top. Each of us had our own individual stove tops. The menu was pretty self explanatory. Choose a meat and they'll teach you what to do. There were 6 of us, some of us wanted the same American Wagyu. It made sense to order 20 oz and share with our partner. The owner advised us not to share, as this would compromise the experience and it wouldn't come with additional veggies and sauce. We didn't understand why we couldn't just order an extra plate of veggies + sauce, but sure we just agreed bc we didn't want to oppose. My partner and I each ordered 7 oz (which is less meat and more expensive compared to ordering the 20 oz and additional sauce/veggies). They have a nice array of sake, wine, and even non alcoholic beer. It did take 1.5 hrs since we ordered for our food to come. The owner was nice and made good conversation. I saw in the back, Yumi (the owner/ wife) was slaving away in the back and hand cutting the meat. They did mention they were down 2 workers, but instead of talking to us, he could have helped her? I felt bad that she was doing so much work. When our food finally came, he taught us how to prepare the food. The veggies and meat were fresh and tasty. About 5 min later, he said "ok my job is done here" and proceeded to lay on the couch right next to us with his feet up and use his phone to watch videos on max volume. There was awkward silence, and one of the ladies in our party had to play background music to offset the awkward silence. In the end, he did use the rest of the ingredients to make the a soup for us to take home. I liked the no waste concept. I guess if you shared, you wouldn't each get the soup at the end but you're coming for the shabu not the soup, correct. We had a birthday cake and he gave us lighters and helped us prepare which was nice. Overall, I'm glad we came, but I don't think we would come again.

Wow this hot pot Japanese style is soooo DELICIOUS and tasty, the beef is FRESH and veggies are fresh !!! Taste amazing and feel amazing eating it because wow it's don't make me feel bloated. It's so healthy and delicious, I can't believe food like this exists in Reno , I'm so glad I found this restaurant and the staff were nice and kind and explain everything through the process of eating. The place is aesthetic and thoughtful to build such a cute place and restaurant.

Great food, warm and inviting service, and fun experience! My daughter and I can't wait to come back!

Dinner last evening was incredibly special. Tadaima Shabu Shabu accomplished an incredible feat. They hit a home run on each category I hold dear when dining out. Service started strong and not once waned. They actually exceeded my expectation. the ambiance was a perfect 10. We ate early so we missed the freight elevator experience but will absolutely make sure we have an after 6:00 reservation so to not miss the "speak easy" vibe next visit.Dinner was absolutely amazing. Of course I ordered too much meat but will definitely do the same next time. The soup they create from your leftovers was at least as fantastic as the original "swish swish" Shabu Shabu! The beautiful fresh and local sourced meats are impressive. They have a meat cutter slicing meats and rolling them to order. All a visual titillation. The veggie platter is a work of art. Their intention is clear... they care about the customers experience. This family run restaurant takes hospitality incredibly serious and I'm now in love with this place. Special place and Reno is the lucky recipient!

    Delicious!

Hands down the best shabu spot in Reno! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Their sauces are ah-mazing.. On top of that, the owners are incredibly warm and welcoming, they make you feel like family from the moment you walk in. It's the kind of place you'll want to keep coming back to, not just for the delicious hot pot but also for the genuine hospitality.

AMAZING!!! We have been to many restaurants having lived here the majority of my life but this one by far has blown my mind!! From start to finish I have not experienced this kind of dining in a very long time. I cannot say enough about the flavors and the customizations available for your order. The sauces were so packed with flavor, everything was delicious! Now the staff is what sets this place apart even further. They were all so beyond friendly, inviting, attentive and kind! You could feel the synchronization between them, like an unspoken language. The vibes were just great. I will rave on about Tadaima Shabu Shabu and I cannot wait to go back and dine with them again. Thank you guys for making this my new favorite spot! I'll definitely be back soon!

What a fun, unique, amazing experience! The food is phenomenal and worth every penny. The employees were so kind, so helpful, and really enjoyable to talk to. This was our first shabu shabu experience and the staff made it truly great. The location is so unique and fun. I highly recommend and we will certainly be back!

Wow, what an awesome experience! There were four of us, our first time, and we all shared the same sentiment... delicious food, nice ambience, and super friendly service from Mackenzie and her mom Yumi. Thank you for bringing shabu shabu to Reno... we are going to let all our friends know and we'll be back again!

This was probably the most unique dining experience I have had in Reno so far!! They are open past 6pm, you just have to call to make a reservation. Located in the basement (old postal office). You could tell the husband and wife duo were extremely passionate about the authenticity and quality of the shabu shabu experience. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone in our group was happy and well fed. Every ingredient from the locally raised washoe valley wagyu beef to the mushrooms and other vegetables was not only aesthetically presented but extremely fresh and high quality. They cut their meat fresh upon order It was such a fun experience for our group! And the owner even helped turn the rest of the hot pot into a to-go meal for the next day which was delicious. Great place for date nights, couple dates, occasions, or if you're just craving a cozy high quality meal that is basically 2-in-one. We will definitely be back!!

Portion sizes were generous, but the salt level made the bulgogi inedible. (Koreans really don't put heart-attack levels of salt in their food.) I kind of regret doing that because my lips are actually numb from all the salt regardless. And calling the very bland kimchi and sesame oil cabbage "banchan" is an insult to the amazing and simple but delicious banchan usually served at Korean restaurants. And what Asian restaurant messes up rice? It was both too mushy and too hard...ew. I have no problem with fast food versions of different cuisines, but I would have been better off throwing this food out. It's really a shame because I was initially very excited by their menu. Two stars instead of one since the fried rice cakes were delicious. I can only hope the rest of what I received was made by a last-minute substitute cook and not the usual fare.

As someone who occasionally likes to eat alone, I really appreciate that. I've visited several times over the years, including recently under the newer ownership. Unfortunately, some of my old favorites aren't quite the same. I used to love their deep-fried oysters, which are no longer on the menu and have been replaced with deep-fried mussels. The kimchi stew recipe also seems to have changed and wasn't as memorable as before. That said, they still serve my favorite gopchang (beef small intestine). When cooked properly, it gets wonderfully crispy and reminds me of Mexican tripas tacos--definitely worth ordering. I'd personally skip the bibimbap appetizer. The rice was hard, the ground beef was cold, and it felt like it relied too heavily on the gochujang sauce for flavor. Even with those changes, I'll continue supporting this business. We went on a Thursday night, and the restaurant was probably about 45% full, so it was busy but not overwhelming. When I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly worker. I let her know I was meeting friends, and she allowed me to go find them and take a seat. The restaurant itself was nice, clean, and had a comfortable atmosphere. Our server was also very nice and brought us menus while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive. Once everyone got there, we started with a few appetizers. We ordered the fried dumplings, popcorn chicken, and I got the kimchi soup. The soup was delicious, and the dumplings and popcorn chicken were both really good too. Honestly, I could have ordered multiple rounds of those alone, but we were there for Korean BBQ and did not want to fill up too much on starters. For our first round of meats, we ordered beef belly, bulgogi, spicy chicken, and garlic pork belly. The food came out quickly, and it arrived on a robot, which was pretty cool. All of the meats were great, but the garlic pork belly and bulgogi were definitely the standouts. For our next round, we ordered those two again along with Hawaiian steak and chicken galbi. Once again, everything was tasty. We finished our final round with more beef belly, New York steak, and miso pork belly. By the end of the meal, we were completely stuffed. To my surprise, our server noticed that one of my friends had brought me a birthday gift bag, and the staff came over and sang happy birthday to me. That was a really nice touch and made the night feel even more special. Overall, this was a good experience. The food was fresh and flavorful, the service was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the birthday surprise was appreciated. I would definitely come back.
