Slow service, very small menu, and the ambiance was "hotel lobby", nothing special about this place.

Don't plan on anyone getting you a drink. Waited 30 minutes with no one in sight. Not worth it.

Descend21 is conveniently located in the Hyatt Regency Orlando right next to the huge swimming pool. I got there for an early lunch and it was fairly empty. The prices are not astronomical, and I enjoyed the wings and the fried chicken sandwich. The wings were good but not amazing. They are big wings though so that was nice. They came with some fancy veggies like non-orange carrots (that's how I defined fancy carrots to my son: if it's fancy, it's not orange.) Now the fried chicken sandwich - wow. I would go back just for that. It was huge, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and thoroughly satisfying. They came with fancy fries seasoned with something like rosemary (not sure). All I know is that handheld entree was legit. Ambiance is elevated for sure. The seating for me was almost like sitting on a couch-like chair with fancy cloth pillows. Honestly I don't know how they keep those pillows clean over time at a restaurant that serves wings and fried chicken sandwiches. Check out Descend21 for a conveniently located restaurant that won't break the bank!

The lock to my door did not operate properly, failing to lock. The bathroom walls had water damage. The paint they used to refurbish the tub was peeling. The tile floor in the elevator was shattered to bits. The elevator was frequently out of service. On the 4th floor, we had sugar ants in the bathroom. Even the park bench outside the front door was broken. Not worthy of the Sheraton/Marriott brand.

There is paint just slopped on to every surface and drops all over where it should not be. You can tell they hired the cheapest and laziest connectors to "redo" these rooms. Shower was falling apart, paint on the shower floor, the carpet, tile etc. They literally put no care and minimal effort into these rooms. It just didn't sit right with me it just gave me an overall icky feeling staying in the room. Like I was staying in a motel off the side of a highway, not a reputable Marriott brand. The hotel is old, elevators are very slow and sketchy. Hallways are dark and carpets are stained everywhere. The thing is, I wouldn't say it was horrific but I wouldn't stay here again, when for $115 (only 10$ more) I can stay at the Courtyard which is a same tier level hotel, which is so much cleaner and well put together, like they actually care.

I stood at the hostess podium for a few moments while the hostesses talked amongst themselves at the other end of the restaurant. One made eye contact with me and then continued her conversation. A different hostess came in from out side and came over to help me out. I sat at the bar and started browsing the menu. Shortly after the bartender, Mason came over and asked if he could get me anything. I ordered an Adult Juice Box as I continued to look at their offerings. The restaurant had an open concept with large glass doors that were open to the pool deck, they also had out side tables that you could opt to sit at, with the kitchen opposite of the bar. I started with the Pinchos Shrimp & Barbados Wings. Both were DELICOUS! Mason was extremely attentive and friendly - he continually checked on everyone at the bar & assisted guests at the walk up window that was pool side. Mason ensured that everyone seated at the bar was topped off on their drinks may it be a cocktail or just water, he ensured our glasses were filled. I ordered another Adult Juice Box and the Jerk Chicken & Mango Salad. Everything was so delicious, and the service from Mason was great. Though my first impression when walking in was to be ignored by the staff much like my previous night at another hotel restaurant - Mason turned my experience around. So thanks, Mason you are a gem and they are lucky to have you!

Unfortunately, the drink didn't match at all. It was watered down and pretty much flavorless. Service was also disappointing. Our waitress kept disappearing, and it didn't seem like it was because she was busy. At one point, other staff couldn't even locate her, which made things frustrating. Overall, the food had potential, but between the drink and service, it honestly would've been better to just order to-go.

As a Titanium Bonvoy member who has stayed at well over 1,500 hotels, I can usually tell pretty quickly when a property is going to deliver a good experience, and this was definitely one of those places. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality stood out. I was greeted by Minerva at the front desk, and she was exactly the kind of person you hope to see after traveling. Even though my room wasn't ready when I arrived around 9 AM, she kept me updated throughout the morning, asked about my day, and made the wait much more pleasant. I was even given passes for coffee or a beverage, which was a thoughtful touch while I relaxed by the pool until my room became available. The hotel itself is extremely well maintained. The pool area was lively and relaxing, and the pool bar was a great spot to unwind after long conference days. There are also several food and dining options on-site. The prices are definitely on the expensive side, but the food quality was very good overall. I stayed in an executive suite, and the room was incredibly spacious. It included a full dining room table, a wraparound sofa, and plenty of room to spread out. If you're traveling with family, entertaining friends, or just appreciate extra space, I'd highly recommend looking into that room category. Everything was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the service throughout the stay was top notch. The only downsides for me were the lack of a concierge lounge and the added destination fee. Other than that, this was a fantastic hotel experience and I would absolutely stay here again when visiting the area.

It is a massive box structure with a fabulously large atrium in the middle. The check-in process was handled quickly and efficiently. This is a Marriott property and the staff were all very friendly and well trained. The elevators face in to the atrium, and it is a scenic view as you had up to your floor. Elevators were quick and there seemed like there was always one waiting on the first floor. Rooms were decently sized and well appointed - very clean and comfortable. Bed was in good shape and got the job done. Hot water was hot and made the shower experience fine. After putting my stuff up, I took a stroll around the place - most of the amenities appear to be in the first floor: bars / restaurants and shops. There is an outdoor pool area and a fitness center somewhere in there as well. To be fair, I did not spend a whole lot of time in the room as I had quite a few activities to attend to. Would I stay here again? I would if the cost of the room was workable. It also depends on where you are planning on going in Orlando. Overall a very good stay and I would recommend staying here if you have the option. Parking is self-park and cost is about $44 / day, or valet park for considerably more at $56/day

Let's focus on the positives first: the atmosphere is incredibly fun and the live music Saturday night was a perfect touch at the bar. There were plenty of fun activities for the kids and there was an all-you-can-eat buffet for the kids with fried chicken and shrimp, macaroni and cheese, fries, and red velvet cupcakes. $25 is a deal if your child would chow down on shrimp, but it might not be a great deal if your child is usually full after four bites. Our server was absolutely fantastic, friendly and very attentive. We started off the dinner with some fantastic deviled eggs and a lemon cello cocktail. I ordered the shrimp and grits and was really disappointed with the tiny, overcooked shrimp and crawfish that accompanied the slightly bland grits. The shrimp on the kids buffet was at least four times larger than the sad little shrimp in my dish. I think the sausage was cut into smaller chunks just so it wouldn't be so obvious how small the shrimp was. My husband didn't love his heirloom tomato salad and said the Wagyu appetizer was disgusting. Dessert was mediocre. The macarons that accompanied my crème brûlée were stale and chewy. This is a fun spot for a drink and appetizer, but I would skip eating dinner at Highball & Harvest.
