Tiny spot in this cute cozy area. Their sushi did not meet our expectations. We won't go back.

We eat sushi everywhere, and we know the difference in freshness and effort. We ordered two items from the menu: the Salmon Crown Roll and the Ahi Tuna Tower. We were very disappointed in both. The Salmon Crown Roll was missing the masago, thrown together, and the crabmeat meat was thickened with cream cheese. The Ahi Tuna Tower was tiny compared to other sushi restaurants (but asking the same price). The Tuna was dry not moist, minimal effort to making a delicious beautiful tower. This $30.00 lunch was not worth it. I didn't leave a tip, that's not like me, but it was that bad.

This review is mostly based off the fried rice. I have cooked professionally for over 20 years. Let me just say... this fried rice goes in my top 10 all time favorite things I have ever eaten. I cannot pin point what they put In it to make it so amazing. I'm contemplating getting a job here just so I can learn their secrets. I have never been inside. I have only ordered through DoorDash. So I can't speak for anything that goes with that. The fried rice has been consistent every time I ordered except once. I could tell they had someone else working that day. But I have to tell you... life changing. As far as sushi I have ordered a bunch of different rolls. I feel their selection on those is lacking... I want more sauces on my rolls and more choices. But they have always been fresh and they aren't cheap on the fish or fillings. My favorite roll is the Canoe. If you told me I would like a sushi roll wrapped in a fried tortilla 2 years ago I would laugh at you. They don't have any of my favorite sashimi online but I can't speak for in store. All in all, pretty legit little sushi place here in Mckinney. Don't place an order without the fried rice or you will be doing yourself a disservice.

Enjoyed this establishment for lunch. I am glad I chose to try it. I was hungry and almost finished before I took a picture. I ordered the Texas roll, vegetable spring roll and pork quoza. The roll was the strength of this review. The ingredients were fresh. The pairings were tasty and unique. I love the fact that the crab meat was snow crab. I can't wait to try more sushi rolls. The vegetable spring rolls were ok. Ingredients were good. I prefer a light and crispier shell. The gyoza was ok too. They were worth the try. Next time I will stick with the sushi rolls. The kimchi soup is on my list to try next. So far this is the best sushi spot in my area. I have tried at least four others. I wish I would have tried them sooner.

Love this little neighborhood byob place. Simple, fast, and delicious. Everything I've had is flavorful, fresh and just the right amount of perfectly cooked rice in the rolls.

Five people could've easily sent here, but I want the hopeful to myself. I could see the whole restaurant from sitting right where I am and it feels perfect. I just stopped in for a quick bite to eat, hoping to get some fried rice and I came in and found my favorite thing on the menu... bang bang shrimp... and there is such a backstory for me and bang bang shrimp but just numb last night my family chose to go to Olive Garden instead of going to bonefish Grill. I really want a bang bang shrimp and today guess what I ordered??? you got it bang bang shrimp!!! and it came out first before the other entrée which was veggie fried rice. My bill is about $27 and that's fine because I'm the main character of the story and every grain of rice was worth it. Perfect place for a self-care day that I stumbled across. Oh and let me not forget my server, Ajah. She was so adorable and so kind. I just wanted to take her home and put her in my pocket and pull her out anytime I need to pick me up or Bestie to talk to. The food was beyond delicious and the service was beyond great 10 out of 10, but definitely come back again!!!

TLDR: Their menu was massive with so many different options which I think is good for people who want to try different things but it may be a little too big of a menu. Food was just ok. It may be beneficial to lessen items on menu and really focus on some key dishes they want to highlight. Everything imo was priced a little on the high side, at least $1-2 more than I would pay for the quality of the dish. They do pack their specialty rolls with a lot of ingredients and with inflation I'm sure they priced it accordingly to keep their business running, so I'm not docking off too much points for that. Review: They offered regular sushi rolls but disappointing to see that yellowtail was not on their menu for rolls (they did have it as an option for 2pc sushi/sashimi). I ordered a smoked salmon 2pc sushi which was pretty good and decently sized so probably worth the ~$5 price point for 2pc. I did not order any other ones from the 2pc menu so not sure if all the fish are portioned that way. Regarding their regular rolls, my husband enjoyed the Philadelphia rolls and said he could taste the smoked salmon, so for both of us a win on the smoked salmon. My other order was part of their specialty rolls...Salmon Lover priced at ~$13 with 8pc. Imo the pieces were quite small for a specialty roll and it tasted ok. There was supposed to be a honey wasabi sauce on there which I felt like was overpowered by the amount of spicy mayo on the dish. I wanted to like it so badly but I figured reading off of the ingredients list that it would have a kick to it, and it did not. It's not marked as a spicy roll, so probably not intended to be spicy? But with spicy mayo and jalapeño surely there would be some mild kick to it, and the flavor just kinda fell flat and tasted like...too much mayo. The highlight of this experience was the service. The young lady who took our order was super nice and cheery. Checked up on us at appropriate times and I saw she was also working on other tasks around the restaurant. I am willing to try this place again in the future as the vibes were nice, it def gives Japanese izakaya and looks like a good place to have dinner with some friends. Maybe I'll try their ramen instead next time!

The staff was genuinely friendly and attentive, which immediately set a positive tone for the experience. The menu offered a great variety with plenty of options, and I really appreciated that items were clearly marked to indicate whether they contained raw fish. That's a thoughtful touch that makes the menu more approachable for guests who may be new to sushi or prefer cooked options. Presentation-wise, the rolls looked fantastic and were plated beautifully. The flavors were good as well. However, the one thing that held the experience back for me was the portion size of the rolls. Some of them were extremely large--my Rock & Roll was so big that fitting a single piece comfortably in my mouth was a challenge. Sushi is traditionally meant to be eaten in one bite to enjoy the balance of rice, fish, and fillings. When the pieces get too large, it can throw off that balance and make the eating experience a bit messy. I also found the eel sauce to be unusually thick--almost molasses-like--which didn't quite have the smooth, glossy texture I typically enjoy. Overall, it's still a solid spot worth trying, especially if you enjoy larger rolls and generous portions. For me personally, the size of the rolls disrupted the balance I look for in sushi, so it may not become my regular spot--but others may really enjoy it.

I will always order tako wasabi anywhere I go that has it, so this was a must for me. The ikageso was also really good and cooked well. The squid was tender and not chewy like it can sometimes get when fried. I also tried one of their specialty items the last time I went, the yuzu hotachi. This was scallop and yellowtail with asparagus, garlic, micro cilantro greens, on a bed of this delicious yuzu creme brulee aioli sauce. The sauce was like nothing I've ever had before with the perfect amount of sweet and umami flavors. My goodness, this dish was so good, I could've eaten this all day.
