Tried Tai last weekend for the first time as it's near us. It's a small intimate restaurant. We came in around lunch time and ordered various items. The crab salad with crunchy rice was amazing as was my salmon skin hand rolls! The hand rolls were huge and just hit the spot. Also enjoyed the salmon crown rolls and the bento box. Overall, if you need a quick sushi fix this spot is for you. It's very easy on your wallet. But if you're looking for a more advanced menu you may need to check out another spot. read more

Been to this place a few times, I have enjoyed it each time, the sushi is fresh, the service is excellent, and best of all, the sushi is more reasonable than most of the places in this area. I hate that I didn't get to get a picture of my food but let me start with the baked salmon roll. It was fresh, tasty and just overall so good. I got it to go and the presentation was nice, workers were nice too. Despite some bad reviews, I'd agree with the majority that it's a solid place. I really wanted to like this place... reviews were great so we went but food was not good at all. I was craving sushi badly but it was the most tough, chewy fish.. ever. It really was the worst sushi I've ever had. I literally left 4-5 pieces uneaten which was a first for me. I'm not a picky person but oh man... it was so bad. Tuna, seared tuna, yellow tail... they were all dry and tough..almost like beef. I knew I was in trouble when I asked for albacore the server looked confused. I assumed they called it Seared Tuna so I went with that. My seared tuna came out dry with no ponzu sauce at all and tough as a well cooked steak. Oh and the hispanic sushi chef behind the bar threw me off a bit. (The only chef) My wife ordered the worst teriyaki chicken, ever. It was in a soupy sauce which I've never seen in my life. We eat sushi everywhere, and we know the difference in freshness and effort. We ordered two items from the menu: the Salmon Crown Roll and the Ahi Tuna Tower. We were very disappointed in both. The Salmon Crown Roll was missing the masago, thrown together, and the crabmeat meat was thickened with cream cheese. The Ahi Tuna Tower was tiny compared to other sushi restaurants (but asking the same price). The Tuna was dry not moist, minimal effort to making a delicious beautiful tower. This $30.00 lunch was not worth it. I didn't leave a tip, that's not like me, but it was that bad. read more

Ordered Uber eats from this restaurant last night. I feel like the reviews were misleading. The sushi was meh nothing special, fried rice bland and miso soup salty. It smells weird, upon entering. We were the only people in there at 2:30 on a Saturday, for the majority of our meal. The sushi was just okay. The cali roll tasted like it had tuna instead of crab, but it looked like crab. The shrimp tempura had very small pieces of shrimp and it wasn't super crunchy. The seaweed salad was delicious. Overall, a very "meh," meal. The sewage/boiled egg adjacent odor was a lot though. Hard to enjoy a meal that way. It is BYOB, though, so there's that. read more

This review is mostly based off the fried rice. I have cooked professionally for over 20 years. Let me just say... this fried rice goes in my top 10 all time favorite things I have ever eaten. I cannot pin point what they put In it to make it so amazing. I'm contemplating getting a job here just so I can learn their secrets. I have never been inside. I have only ordered through DoorDash. So I can't speak for anything that goes with that. The fried rice has been consistent every time I ordered except once. I could tell they had someone else working that day. But I have to tell you... life changing. As far as sushi I have ordered a bunch of different rolls. I feel their selection on those is lacking... I want more sauces on my rolls and more choices. But they have always been fresh and they aren't cheap on the fish or fillings. My favorite roll is the Canoe. If you told me I would like a sushi roll wrapped in a fried tortilla 2 years ago I would laugh at you. They don't have any of my favorite sashimi online but I can't speak for in store. All in all, pretty legit little sushi place here in Mckinney. Don't place an order without the fried rice or you will be doing yourself a disservice. read more

Enjoyed this establishment for lunch. I am glad I chose to try it. I was hungry and almost finished before I took a picture. I ordered the Texas roll, vegetable spring roll and pork quoza. The roll was the strength of this review. The ingredients were fresh. The pairings were tasty and unique. I love the fact that the crab meat was snow crab. I can't wait to try more sushi rolls. The vegetable spring rolls were ok. Ingredients were good. I prefer a light and crispier shell. The gyoza was ok too. They were worth the try. Next time I will stick with the sushi rolls. Review for a to-go order I was initially hesitant at first from the mixed reviews but my experience was very pleasant. Placed an order right at 12PM, food was ready within 15min. Ordered a Japanese fried rice and sunflower roll with miso soup. All the items were very tasty, my husband and I really liked the sunflower roll. Needing sushi in our lives, we decided to give this place down the road a shot. No regrets! The food is the best. I opted in for The Beginner: Cali roll and shrimp tempura roll. Ah-May-Zing! I always get the basic stuff because that's an indicator if they're good and they got it down to a science. My husband ordered the Tempura Don, which comes with a big ass bowl of tempura over rice, a delicious salad, and tuna California rolls. Again, freaking tasty as all hell. We finished the night with tempura banana and vanilla ice cream as a dessert. It was... different. In a good way, but it leaves an impression on you. I'm still trying to process the meal, but it was quite good. The restaurant, in other details, is nestled in a little plaza off Stacy Rd and is quite cozy. Probably not good for large groups, but definitely a go-to spot for a nice lunch/dinner with your S.O. Service was pretty good. Last minute lunch here last week and I was nervous because of the very mixed reviews. So here it is: this is what I call strip mall sushi, which is basically most of Frisco, Plano and McKinney. It's a hole in the wall, very tiny spot. It's not the best cut of sashimi but four stars because they were friendly and priced accordingly. Since moving here, we've been to many strip mall sushi places that are way overpriced for mediocre fish. Densetsu is a prime example. We've been on a mission to find a new sushi restaurant and Tai Sushi House had been bookmarked for a while so we decided to check it out. The restaurant is tucked away in a little plaza off the road...not an area that has much traffic. It's very small inside, but luckily we went on a Wednesday night and there was a table available right in the front. The ambiance was incredibly casual and very family-friendly. It's BYOB which was nice. The staff is super friendly! Sunny was our server and we even met Albert, the very sweet owner. These two made sure our food arrived in a timely fashion and were super attentive throughout our entire dining experience. Albert made sure were pleased with the food and even helped us by making a few recommendations (including the tempura cheesecake!) There were four of us that night, all sushi lovers, which allowed us to try several of the rolls. Before I start with the rolls, let me begin with the appetizers. We tried the spicy edamame, the seaweed salad, and my friend ordered the seafood soup. The edamame was coated in kimchi sauce, which gave it that little kick. It was good, but probably not something I would order again (a "one and done" for me). The seaweed salad was good, very typical in flavor. We ordered four rolls to begin with (knowing we would be ordering more...this was just round one.). Of all the rolls we tried, my favorite was the Dallas Roll and the Fireworks Roll (both have a good kick to them). We did try the lobster roll as well and, although the presentation was beautiful, the roll itself was just ok. I have added pics of all the rolls we tried. I will say that when the rolls arrived, they looked smaller than what we were expecting, but we were definitely full after eating the EIGHT rolls we ordered...so go slow, you definitely won't leave there hungry! If you find you have enough room after dinner, try the tempura cheesecake. It's definitely sharable (enough for the four of us) and worth checking out. Overall I would say this place is good for a quick bite if I'm ever in McKinney, nothing too fancy, but decent enough to go back one day. read more

Was not a fan I was there last night ordered the crispy bagel roll..which is lightly fried the roll tasted like bad, old grease so I had to send it back.
