    Spicy Tuna Tataki Roll
    Kristina M.

I ordered the spicy tuna tataki roll, which consists of spicy tuna, cucumber, topped with seared tuna, ponzu, & green onion. It's my favorite! I also enjoy the Tom yum soup! We love to sit on the patio! Elliot is always taking very good care of us!

This is my first time visiting Madai sushi and it was pretty good! I like how it was a Thai and Japanese fusion. Ambiance: There was a medium noise level and it was a pretty chill environment. There was not many customers when I went during the weekday. There is plenty of seating: booths and table and chairs. Service: The server was very nice and accommodating! There was not many other tables but he did check up on us often. Thai Fried Rice: The fried rice was soooooooo good!! We got a moderate spice level and it was honestly so delicious!! There was such a good flavor and it wasn't too spicy. Sushi: We got the Alaska roll and a eel roll. Both of the sushi rolls were very good. They taste like how they should have tasted and it was a good quantity.

I came here with a friend last weekend based on his recommendation. This restaurant used to be a Thai restaurant and had either a change of ownership or expanded their menu. Anyways, when we arrived, we were welcome fairly quickly and asked where we wanted to sit. Originally, we decided the bar area but ended up moving to a table nearby. Our waiter, Sean, greeted us and provided us with 2 menus - a paper one and a more descriptive menu with pictures and ingredients. We were also served warm water with lemon in a mug. Sean was helpful in giving his recommendations when we wanted to decide our order. We ordered Veggie Egg Rolls for our appetizer. We also added on a Bonsai Roll, Cosmo Roll, Wasabi Caviar, and Quail Eggs. We received the Veggie Egg Rolls fairly quickly. It was served fresh and hot. The pastry in itself was very flaky and I enjoyed the bite of the egg roll. It went really well with the duck sauce. Next, we received the Bonsai Roll and Cosmo Roll. The Bonsai Roll had spicy yellowtail and avocado in the middle, and was topped with albacore tuna. I really enjoyed the ponzu sauce on the side of the plate and it tasted fresh. I generally lean more towards smoked salmon when I get sushi so the Cosmo Roll was interesting. The Cosmo Roll had cream cheese and smoked salmon. The exterior of the roll was lightly fried with some tempura batter so it added some sweetness. The crunch and texture was really good. This was probably my most favorite roll of the 2. My friend had never had caviar before so we originally ordered the black caviar because we noted that we indicated it was buttery in the menu. Unfortunately, we were informed that the black caviar had run out so they offered Tobiko (red caviar) and Wasabi Caviar. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of wasabi in excess so I was hesitant towards it. My friend, however, is a huge fan so we ended up getting it. I was very very surprised by the taste. The wasabi was not overpowering and it was surprisingly good when served with the nori. I'd love to give the black caviar a try. We also ordered quail eggs and that was new for me. They were served with the top taken off and a mixture of sauces were added on top. As soon as I took this "shot", I made a face. I wasn't sure if it was the mixture of sauces, but it was definitely an experience. If you've never had quail eggs, I'd recommend giving this a try. Ultimately, I plan to go here again. My experience here was quite nice, and I look forward to trying other dishes. I also have to thank Sean, our waiter, for being patient and very helpful. We received top notch service from him!

I think this is my first review for a restaurant but had to recommend. Elliot was phenomenal customer service, the food is FRESH. From their oranges, the fried food, the meat, all of it. So good and LARGE portions. They even brought out the baby a little orange teddy bear treat. It was so cute.

Cosmo Roll and Pineapple Fried Rice
    Tayo A.

The pineapple fried rice had raisins in it & seemed to have a touch of curry power. These are two things I do not typically expect to be present in pineapple fried rice. The rice was colorful, but I would have appreciated if it had more flavor to accompany its vibrant appearance. Now the sushi... some might not get this, but the fish in the rolls tasted fishy... more funky than fresh. On the upside, the presentation was beautiful (especially the yellowtail) and the server was kind, but I won't be coming back here.

Good and fresh sushi, kids love the chicken katsu bento box, husband loves his spicy yellowtail roll, volcano roll is one of the good ones, spider roll is yummy for sure.

It's not bad but it isn't great sushi. The flavors lack distinction and was overall okay but unimpressive.

The Pad Thai was packed with flavor and perfectly balanced, while the Pad See Ew had that rich, savory taste with noodles cooked just right. I ordered everything at the highest spice level, and I was honestly impressed that the heat never overpowered the food. It still had tons of flavor behind the spice, which is something a lot of places struggle to pull off. The dim sum was another standout. It was fresh, flavorful, and paired with a house-made dipping sauce that was absolutely incredible. That sauce alone is worth coming back for. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it a great place to sit down, relax, and enjoy your meal instead of feeling rushed. On top of that, the customer service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and happy to answer questions or make recommendations, which made the experience even better. Between the flavorful food, authentic spice, great atmosphere, and outstanding service, this place easily earns a 10/10 from me. I'll definitely be back to work my way through more of the menu. The entire restaurant vibe was amazing, beautifully designed, clean, waitress was friendly, and took my shellfish allergy seriously. If you're new to Thai food OR to this restaurant, I always recommend starting mild and working your way up. Every place is different. The pad Thai & house fried rice were simply amazing. So much flavor depth! Also, PLEASE do yourself a favor and order the Thai crispy spring rolls. I could eat a dozen of these by myself! And the sauce that's served with the spring rolls?! So good. We were planning our next visit before we even walked out the door! lol! We'll be back soon! Thanks Thai Spice for an incredible experience & amazing food!

I can give grace for that since I too want to not test the Texas grid. It's really clean and well set up when you first walk in. It was so hot inside, my legs stuck to the seat of the vinyl booth. Ugh. Service is slow, but the food comes out fast. I had to call out for refills on water. No ice. I prefer my water cold. Room temperature water is not my thing. I'm guessing I'm missing something. My soup was fresh and the broth was delicious! It was a spice level of 5. I like my food spicy. This was off the charts! My friends had a hard time eating their food. It was supposed to be level 2 spice, instead it was level 5 like mine. It was not enjoyable for them. Theirs went in a to go box. Then to the trash when they got home. I ate all my soup, no togo box for me. I paid the price for 3 days after eating here. OMG! Your tummy will be dying. Be safe. Don't eat level 5 at a new restaurant. You would think I'd learned that by now. We all have stupid moments. Mine was epic! It's supposed to be vegan and gluten free which is a big plus for those that require that as their diet. Less sugar items is a plus too! Way to go green. For me, because I messed up, I'll start at a lower spice level if I return. There were 4 people in our party. Got the feeling this place will be out of business before I even think of returning. I hope I'm wrong and wish them luck! June 2024

Food: We ordered large tom yum shrimp soup to share, Sakhuu white pad Thai with beef and pad kee mao with tofu. Spice level 3 for all. Order of food received at the table: pad kee Mao, tom yum soup then pad thai Wife ranked the tom yum to be the best so far that we have tried in the Dallas area. We didn't enjoy it as much as pad kee mao. We should have tried the traditional Pad Thai. We wouldn't order the Sakhuu white pad Thai again. Service: this is where we were disappointed. Started off good by getting seated, received glass of water with lemon slice without ice. Order was taken and as the food was served and dropped off there was no follow up to ask how the food was. Not even once. We had to ask another employee for our check only to see 18% gratuity included in the check. I expect automatic inclusion of gratuity for larger groups and don't have any problem with even higher percentage gratuity, but not for a two top with a sub par service. Very disappointed. Although food was above average, the lack of service received and automatic inclusion of 18% gratuity just left a very bad experience for us. We won't be back...atleast not this location.
