This is first Vietnamese restaurant I've ever visited that does not skimp on the slices of fresh beef in Pho. All the ingredients are remarkably fresh and tasty. If you visit in the winter months and get cold easily, sit in the booths. During our visit, overhead air ducts were pushing out cold air on the chairs and tables situated in the center of the restaurant and it became uncomfortable for us after sitting for more than 30 minutes. I didn't dispute it because was really good so I just paid and asked for a receipt. But I was anxious to see how my $4.50 lunch combo ended up being so expensive. I went to my car and went over my receipt. The ramen was FULL PRICE at $16.50, $1 for the rich soup add-on, $2 for the level 3 spice, $8 for the very watered down adult mixed drink which contained "Japanese vodka" and a separate bottle of club soda I had to mix in myself and guess what was $4.50? The pork Chasu Don side dish. I was livid. Maybe I didn't read the menu correctly. Or maybe it was poorly written. But I feel like they got over on me. And I'm upset about it. Atlanta is not a ramen city. There is neither a Japanese population nor the excitement for ramen…read moreamong locals to support it. Opening in 2016 with many more years at the Suwanee location, Hajime brought something very new at the time, focusing on Hakata style ramen with thin noodles. Since then, places like Jinya, Ramen+ and countless others came to call Atlanta home. With all that, Hajime still remains is one of the local ramen outposts that isn't a big chain. It's an industrial style space in a strip mall that has long been forgotten. The popular ultra spicy ramen here is certainly spicy, but the broth is fairly basic in terms of actual flavor. Unfortunately the ramen was served barely warm, with very little broth to be enjoyed. It's a very noodle heavy bowl of ramen. It would not be fair to compare, so perhaps it's just a matter of taste as to whether one would enjoy this ramen or not. With that said, it's nice folks working here, the establishment is very clean and it's one of the small locally owned businesses that is a pleasure to support through a visit. Thus, genuinely hoping that others might enjoy the ramen bowls at Hajime.
