Lunch today with family at Tailgators in Locust, North Carolina was excellent! Everyone got wings and they were really delicious! The fries and homemade chips were excellent as well. And we had the apple empanada. The atmosphere was really great and our server was so attentive! She had such a great personality and really stayed on top of everything from our drinks, extra ice, napkins, dipping sauces, to-go cups, etc. I didn't get her name but we tipped based on her performance which was stellar! read more

I've always had good experiences here. Great food variety on the menu, as well as drinks. I will say that it does seem like the place is somewhat understated at times, but I think that's happening everywhere right now. The wait times for food are sometimes really long, but the food has always been good and fresh-tasting. The staff/waitresses are usually pretty nice and welcoming for the most part. Called in a to-go order lady taking the order was very nice and helpful. Waited and arrived to get the food, food was hot and ready and once arrived home it was found our orders of chicken tenders were overcooked and disgusting, Fries had no flavor and were mushy. Went at noon before a football rush crowd. Sat outside and watched the waitresses scramble outside to determine their sections. We waited for a greeting whe 6 other tables arrived, ordered and received drinks. I raised my hand and asked if we had a server, was told that they would check. Few minutes later we had our drink order was taken. I asked for a draft list and was told they had Bud. I asked for the list again. Was provided with a verbal list was recited and I orderwhat I was told was an IPA, turned out it was a wheat ale. Not good for sports bar but fine... went in and asked the bartender what IPAs she had. She went to the cooler and grabbed a Sweetwater IPA... done! Thank you Eventually, our food arrived and we enjoyed our meal until I came to my last wing. It was covered in feathers. I told the waitress who shrugged it off and said " well, chickens have feathers" Shameful! The customer service was spotty since the hostess was very nice and made sure we got a waitress. Had went to a Car Show in Locust, Won a $25. Gift Card there a while back, for Tailgaters. Decided to go there last Friday night, WHAT a MISTAKE ! If I would have knowed before I went, I would have just throwed that Gift Card in the trash ! First off, was asked by the seater if I wanted to go outside because it was pretty loud inside. I said that was ok. Waited,waited, then waited some more. In the meantime 3 waitresses going to other tables RIGHT pass me, ain't said nothing to me. FINALLY, 1 ( I hadn't saw yet ) came & asked what I was gunna have to drink, I told her Coke Zero. After bout 5 minutes, she brung it & took my food order. I ordered rack of ribs, I know it takes a while to get them. She brung me the plate, asked if I needed anything else, I said no, not at the time. Got bout half done eating, ( I had to force myself, have had ribs at MANY different places-ALL good, but these here had a BAD taste ). Drink glass empty, she finally came back with water. She said, Oh, you had tea, I said no Coke Zero. She brung me some, also the bill. I had eat all I could ( not near all ) my glass empty again. The total bill was $27.90. I waited & waited for her to return, then I decided to leave the Gift Card & $3.00 cash on the table & leave. ( they got a exit gate outside ) Bout the time I was gunna get up, she returned. Asked if I wanted a to go box, I SAID NO ! She took the card & money, without looking how much it was, asked if I wanted change back ? I said no. When she went inside, I hit the gate ! Now I BELIEVE in tipping depending on my service, have l have left $5.00 down to $0.00. But I let her have the .10 cent tip I thought she deserved. I drove nearly 1 hour to & then nearly a hour back home. Boy I wish I would have STAYED at home, eat a sam-itch, & THROWED that card away. We went to Tailgator's to get a quick bite to eat. My wife ordered hot dogs and I ordered a hamburger, no salt, no onions. 30 minutes later I was presented an onion burger. I told the waiter I was allergic to onions. When he asked if he could bring me something else I told him "No, I can't wait another 30 minutes to get a simple hamburger".It was then that he committed the greatest sin you can commit. He gave up. From then on he didn't care if we got served. I asked to speak to the manager and when she came to the table I asked her why was there so much chaos in the store. She informed me she was dealing with the band that was setting up. I asked her who was expediting in the kitchen, and she told me she was. So, the problem here is obvious. The owner needs to make up his mind, "Do I want a successful business" or "Do I keep my head up my [Expletive Deleted]. I can't blame the waiter if he is poorly trained. I can't blame the manager for trying to do two jobs at once. The owner of the restaurant has this responsibility. If he is sitting on his [Expletive Deleted] instead of being at the store or hiring enough people to do the job, he is to blame, nobody else. The level of disorganization here was epic. If the owner doesn't know what he is doing, hire a full time manager with a proven track record. Right now Tailgator's is the only sports bar around. Went here for the first time despite the reviews. Because let's face it, I'm new to this small town, and there isn't many places to eat at in this small town. However I was surprised, the food wasn't awful. It's typical bar type food. I got chicken wings, hot mixed with their general Tao sauce and it was delicious. I also got their Cobb salad, I believe it was a small. But it was massive! We had a couple mixed drinks from the bar.. they weren't as good. My French Dip was actually pretty good and the service was good (despite reading about it being poor). HOWEVER, my friend ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich that came out with tiny little mites crawling on the lettuce! They were responsive and apologetic, but it still happened. This place has so much potential. Without any competition they have somehow remained to stay open. Whoever owns this place is running it into the ground. I will no longer order food here. My last visit was on a Sunday. They were not busy at all. I ordered a simple cheeseburger and fries. Ten minutes later, to my surprise came the food. I know from experience that it takes much longer than that to prepare fresh food. I looked at the perfectly round, dryed up patty. I knew right away that this was not made from fresh ground beef. I can't say whether it was precooked but it definitely came from a box out of the freezer. It was like eating a frozen Bubba burger that was thrown onto a grill. A cheeseburger has to be the most basic, easiest, simple item that a place like this could make. But, they screw it up using frozen ground beef. Yuck! read more

Typical sports bar atmosphere with multiple TVs on every wall all with different channels playing. Appears to have a full bar in the center, booth walls prevented clear view across the restaurant. Hubby had the bone in wings with general tso sauce served with the usual celery and carrot sticks and one choice of different dipping sauces. No sides were offered. I had the taco salad with chili, chicken was the other option. It arrives table side and looks like a good portion of salad but underneath a small amount of lettuce was an equally small amount of the chili and on the bottom, piled high were broken tortilla chips. This took me by surprise, especially the porta potty blue corn chip. One can only hope these weren't "left overs" The "salad" is served with pickled banana peppers and pickled jalapeño peppers, which even after adding the salsa and sour cream left me with an overwhelming pickle taste. This place used to be great, but has sadly gone down hill. We used to eat here once a month. I loved the wings, my wife loved their chopped steak. Burgers, salads and service were good. The best thing now is the green beans. Beer choices very limited, wings are sad and the service has been terrible the last three times we visited. Food cold all three times, hostesses and waitresses didn't want to be there. Off our list. Others noticing too, not crowded anymore. Sad. read more

I can definitely say I've never had great service. This place has a decent crowd on the weekends but I prefer it for the food. Unfortunately I can no longer support this establishment due to consistent errors that are never rectified correctly. One time I went there and ordered 50 wings and did not get any blue cheese or ranch dressing, the response was "you didn't ask for it". The last time I put in an order for 24 wings, I didn't get 24 wings in my order, they took my order to the back and said "we will just make you a whole new order" I agreed, however I got the same order back that they agreed to make over. Very disappointed with my visit. As another Yelper reviewed, the wings are dry and overcooked. I went with the very hot (extra hot?), this is a dry rub and not too hot. The blue cheese is house made, very commendable, but I thought it tasted more like ranch. The flavor was okay, but too runny for me. HERE IS MY MAJOR ISSUE WITH TAILGATOR's ----- the beer is WARM!!!! I had a bottle - warm. I complained, but ended up drinking it. I asked if the tap was colder and was told yes - warm. FYI - the homemade blue cheese was warm too. Something is wrong with their cooling system. We went to another place down the road and had a cold beer, I jokingly said its nice to have a cold beer. The bartender and several patrons busted out laughing and ask if we had been to TAILGATOR's. So if they are getting complaints and the community knows that they have warm beer, why isn't the issue addressed? Surprised they stay in business. We stopped here with friends for lunch on our way through the area. It was not crowded during the lunch hour but seemed like it was geared more towards the evening and sports crowds. There were TV's throughout the restaurant showing different sporting events and were easily viewable from all seats. I ordered the Chicken Philly Cheese Steak sandwich which was pretty good! The winner though was the Buffalo Chips! They were round cut french fries with buffalo seasoning and a side of ranch dressing. My friend ordered the homemade chips but they did not leave an impression, they were very crunching and thin. Overall the food was average! The service was great, very attentive and friendly. I went here with my mother and brother. We had three different waitresses coming to our table which was very confusing. We ordered wings which were very dried out, the celery that came with it looked old as well. When the food came out, my mother and brother got their meals but mine didn't come to the table. When the waitress came back to ask if everything was okay, I told her I had yet to receive my meal. She had to look in here notepad to see what I ordered and then proceeded to go to the computer they had to put the order in. After waiting a while I finally received my food. I'm guessing the waitresses could read my face that I was unhappy. They kept coming to the table and gave us to go cups I guess to make up for it. We paid our bill, one waitress got the book and cash. As we got into our car one of the waitresses rushed out and asked us if we paid for our food. But, we had to find someone to seat us and she had a "discussion" with a wait person about whether to seat us in a booth or table, yet never bothered to ask us our preference. We waited an unusually long time to get our food and they were not very busy. The chili was cold. I mean cold! The cheese was not melted on top at all. And my dinner was not hot. It appeared it had sat in the kitchen for a while. The prices were way too much for the food and service, also. Good food, we used to order there twice a week. We no longer support this business because customer service is terrible. I have never called and got an answer on the first time and have even been hung up on (several occasions) when their staff is too busy to say hello and answer the phones for take out orders. How can people run a business like this? Simply because they are one of the only so so restaurants in our terribly lacking town, but as soon as someone sets up shop here with actual quality service and food they will go out of business hopefully. read more
