Nina tailored my wedding dress which was detailed with 3D appliqués and also made me a custom veil with the appliqués sewed on. I do think she is a skilled tailor but simply does not have the time, energy, or attentiveness to brides for something as special as their wedding wear. I cannot in good faith recommend her to other brides for wedding alterations but think she is better off working in garments that are lower stakes. My biggest complaints are: - She gives you attitude if you push back or have feedback on work she's already done. She is very unwilling to course correct or adjust. - Is not the most respectful of your time. During my bridal appointment, she would allow multiple clients to come in and out during it and other customers would also offer commentary on my dress which I found extremely inappropriate. - Often had to be reminded to do a complete job. Some times the dress wasn't ready or hemmed yet and still had pins which resulted in at least 2 more appointments than necessary. - Lacking attention to detail. I had to clean up a lot of loose ends, fraying, threads, trim excess fabric, remove pencil marks when my final dress was done. I expected better for the price point I paid. - Finally and most egregiously, I asked Nina to sew on appliqué fabric I provided to my veil, both which were custom. She initially sewed the appliqués to the wrong side and said she would correct it by removing and resewing. When I received the final veil, it was beautiful but I noticed that rather than correcting her mistakes, Nina cut the entire veil from the hair comb and resewed it on. I found this to be extremely dishonest and upsetting. She also cut up the fabric I provided and butchered a lot of beautiful details I was hoping to preserve. I found it incredibly misleading of Nina to cut corners and literally cut a perfectly created custom veil rather than owning up and taking the time to correct her mistakes. My dress ended up being fine and wearable ultimately, but it would've been more worth it for me to pay a bit more to have a better experience overall. I do not recommend this business for other brides specifically. read more

Nina is the most wonderful person and best tailor one could ask for in the Mt Prospect area. It's a shame that all these bad reviews are solely for the fact her place of business is out of her own residential home. It's 2023 guys and give people a break. She runs the business professionally and just cause it's in her house, shouldn't be a reason to ruin a business's reputation. I got my black suit completely altered/tailored as well as one white dress shirt. Nina knows exactly how to shape out a suit or any piece of clothing to your body type. She makes you feel comfortable to ask any questions and gives her opinions but allows you to pick your alterations. Her place of business is in the basement with a neat waiting couch and a changing room she built herself. It's a great setup and it's everything a tailor would need. She was able to get my suit done in 3 days which is crazy fast. Given I had a lot of alterations to make. Everything from bringing the back of the suit jacket in, shortening the sleeves, hemming my pants and adjusting the waist line. A lot of alterations and Nina did them all perfectly She priced it all reasonably and it felt good to support her and her business. So , don't look negatively on the fact she operates out of her house. The address is correct and her place of business is amongst the several other townhomes on the street. She's reliable and excellent at troubleshooting any ill-fitting garment without compromising the fabric, fit, or unique details of your outfit (especially in the case of formalwear and ethnic wear). Nina is thoughtful and honest in her approach and works hard to make sure her clients leave smiling. There have been a number of times I've brought her dresses that I considered hopeless or items in my closet that just always feel "off" and she makes the right tweaks that make them not only wearable, but flattering and some of my most preferred articles of clothing. To give some context, I bought a wedding dress from a pushy salesperson who pinned it up so quickly that I had no idea how big it was for me. Of course, it was a final sale and they wouldn't take it back even though she lied to me completely about the structure of the dress. I thought I was going to hate my wedding dress because it was nothing like what I imagined or what I was told it would look like. We took the dress to Nina and I can't say anything other than she was a miracle worker. She worked with my schedule to see me at times that were convenient because I live in the city. She met with me multiple times to make massive adjustments to the dress while paying attention to the little details. She was sweet and hardworking and I'm so grateful that she made me love my wedding dress. I had a lot of fun on my wedding day and someone stepped on my dress and tore it a bit. I cannot say enough about Nina and her handiwork! Purchased my daughter's prom dress from Peaches (an overall nice experience - and from whom we got Nina's initial referral), but soon after we got home, looked closer and realized that the amount of tailoring necessary to properly alter the dress (intricate lace and bead work at the bottom, as well as a bustled train), was going to be enormous (as even in four inch heels, my daughter's a respectable 5' 9'NOT a 6' runway model). Wasn't sure at all if the (all sales final at Peaches) dress could be hemmed without losing it's fashion sense and structure, but Nina worked miracles. Very fair and reasonable prices, very thorough fittings and such sweet personal assistance (in her home). From start to finish have never had such a professional and enjoyable formal dress 'fitting' experience (yes, she also does weddings)...Nina's staying in my speed dial forever. It's been a year since I went to Nina and I still think about the great job she did. I got married in August and had my dress done in June. Meaning I brought my dress to her at the beginning of June and it was done by the end (including 2 fittings). She's so quick and everything was done with quality. I had quite a difficult dress to alter, basically 2 sizes too big and had lots of wavy ruffles, so she took in the sides and was able to shorten it to just the right length. I read the great reviews here on Yelp and took my daughter's graduation dress to be altered to Nina. Nina did not pay enough attention, cut the material too much to reduce length, ended up having to go way shorter than we wanted. And her prices are not the best. The business is run in her basement, I would expect better prices from Nina than from a business that rents a store front. Importantly, I do not have the confidence to go to Nina in the future. I contacted Nina at Pizzazz Tailor- Alterations to sew military patches on my military jacket to recreate a jacket I once had many years ago when I served in military paratrooper divisions. I was not able to keep this jacket throughout the years and this newly recreated jacket brings back good memories of those times from years past. Nina's workmanship on the sewing of the seven patches is highly professional and very well done. The jacket looks like it was many years ago. Nina's pricing for her work is very reasonable. She is very good to work with and follows requests very thoroughly. Her responsiveness is very good and she keeps her promised schedule to complete her work. I highly recommend her work to anyone interested in having patches, of any kind, sewn onto uniforms, jackets etc. I will soon ask that she does some alterations on some some pants that requires work. Nina is fantastic and very reasonably priced. She altered my dress for my wedding 3 years ago. I had this vision for my bustle to go under my dress rather than be bunched up on my back side so that when it was pinned underneath it would just look like a floor length dress. Okay seriously I could write a novel. If you do not bring your dress to Nina you are making a mistake. I have been taking my dresses to Nina since I was a teenager. I am now in my mid twenties and she just finished my wedding dress!!! Now let me say I am very picky and want my dresses to look perfect and all I can say is wow!!! When I have explained what she has done to my dresses it's summed up like this: she has basically taken dresses that look like a garbage bag on me and turned them into something beautiful. I am really glad that I found Nina! I had to alter the length in the front of my wedding dress (which otherwise fit me perfectly) and I have contacted many tailors in Chicago and the suburbs. Unfortunately, as soon as they heard the word "bridal" they all asked for colossal prices without even considering the simple change that had to be done. When I e-mailed Nina a picture of my dress - she got back to me right away with a very reasonable price; and since I saw a bunch of good reviews on her on google reviews I decided to go with her. Nina is extremely nice and very professional - she quickly measured everything she needed to do and even gave me a couple of hints about my dress that I didn't consider before, such as pulling my train up for dancing purposes. She wasn't pushy at all which I also liked but I went with everything she suggested and I am glad I did because I would be tripping all over on the dance floor otherwise. Nina is amazing! I wear a size 0/2 dress but had to get a size 6 to stand up for a wedding. The dress was too log, too big and not flattering at all. The dress has multiple types of fabrics and flowing layers. I thought it would be impossible to fix. the wedding is on 4/20/13 so i was running out of time. Most places I called quoted me double what Nina charged me. I emailed Nina and she got back to me right away and worked around my crazy schedule. I met with Nina and told her what I wanted and she explained to me what she needed to do. She reassured me she would help me. I picked up my dress today and it was AMAZING!!! I was blown away with how beautiful it was, it doesn't even look like it was altered! it fit me PERFECT and she also added built in bra padding. Nina is truly talented and experienced.
