The salmon is so soft and buttery. The wasabi is definitely hot. It's gonna make your eyes water and the service...those two ladies are so kind and very compassionate. Today I went to pick up some sushi for my birthday and I just lost my mother and my job so it was tough, but they were so kind. I can't review for sitting in, I don't do that. I always get it to go, but it's always busy at lunchtime and that's usually when I am there. The food is excellent. They do put a little too much rice on their rolls, but I simply take some of it off, so it's not that big of a deal. Their lunch specials, are outstanding. Taipei Tokyo has my absolute favorite egg drop soup. It is delicious tasty broth filled with egg ribbons and savory goodness. When, they closed their restaurant on Shady Grove Road, I was heartbroken. I would come in regularly for my soup and other dishes. But, today I was able to stop by and visit their Rockville Pike location. The service was excellent. The lady who waited on me was charming. We talked about why the other location was closed. She confided in me that the owner was trying to downsize since she was getting a bit older. But, the best part of my visit was getting to savor my delicious egg drop soup. The restaurant is nicely decorated and they have both a sushi chef and Chinese chef on premises. The prices are reasonable. So, great service, delicious food, reasonable prices....I will definitely be back. And, a happy Buddha that greets you as you enter. read more

The beef and broccoli was your typical American Chinese takeout style. The beef noodle soup flavor was really good. Slightly spicy and broth rich in flavor. The prices are super reasonable, the portions are solid, and the food always hits the spot. The sushi is fresh--especially the fatty salmon, which I love--and the bento boxes are perfect for a quick, filling meal. I've also had the beef noodle soup (so flavorful!) and the chow fun, which is seriously good. The only thing I'd say is the tempura can be a little too greasy sometimes, but that's really my only complaint. What really stood out was the service. I came in once with my elderly dad and they were so kind and accommodating. Just really thoughtful and above and beyond, which meant a lot. A very unassuming place when you enter and just to beware the parking can be tricky here. The restaurant seems to serve both sushi and cooked entree foods. We opted for the entrees including taiwanese sausage fried rice, fried fish, beef noodle soup, and chicken karrage. The chicken karrage (6/10) firstly was more of battered chicken (not karrage breading) so I'd skip this if you are able to. The taiwanese fried rice (8/10) was really flavorful and seasoned, but on the dry side. The fish fillet (7/10) was adequately saucy but overall lacked unique distinct flavor. Lastly the beef noodle soup (8/10) was a solid bowl of noodles and the soup did not overwhelm the flavor of the beef. Mild yet flavorful and a good hearty meal. Service was just fine and they took our order promptly and then let us enjoy the dinner peacefully. A Rare Gem Hands down one of the best sushi spots I've been to in a long time. Staff is super friendly and actually on it--water stays full, orders come out fast, and they don't hover or rush you.
