Taisho SF... where to start? Food: I'm just visiting the area and this place caught my eye, Open late, Japanese food, and Karaoke! I ordered Spam Musubi, and the Curry Loco Moco. Very delicious fusion of flavor! And I'm a big Original Loco Moco head! The service: Man the staff was so inviting. We stepped in for dinner right around 10pm, Karaoke was going and the staff was able to seat us right away. Due to the music volume, I guess I misheard the waiter Confirming my order. And I said yes to the wrong order. I got Katsu Curry instead of the Loco Moco. I informed the waiter and they made it right no questions asked. Superb. I wish I had more time to hang for the night and do some Karaoke but it was getting late lol. 10/10 would recommend to friends and family visiting the SF area for food or fun.

We went on a wednesday night. They were a bit understaffed but they gave us some sake to compensate which is really nice. good amount of seating and a bar. The asian cabbage salad had so many red onion lol. tempura was too battery. I like the spam fried rice even though it was a little too moist. I think they used normal rice. it heated up so good at home after frying in the pan. Loved the karaage nice and crispy. Would love to come back to try karaoke.

We stumbled around the block looking for soul food and a place to eat. We found Taisho. Supes fun, low-key crazy karaoke and kitchen! Real talk. The karaoke slaps right away. Just scan the QR code and go. Pro tip: get on the karaoke list before you order! Also you can track the queue from your phone. The kitchen is open late and the katsu is legit good. Beer and sake hits the SPOT! Here's what I'm saying: you'll have fun if you come here. Bring a group and stay a while! "Don't threaten me with a good time!"

Came here on a Thursday night around 10pm and this place was live. There were people all around the restaurant participating in kareoke as they have multiple microphones. They also had pokemon playing on another tv and another anime moving playing on a third tv in the main room with the kareoke that was going on. We waited a few minutes to be seated, server greeted us with water after a few minutes and took our order shortly afterwards. For the restaurant being so busy, we didn't wait that long for our food. Food was good, nothing special. Will come back to try other things on the menu and maybe kareoke too! I think they also have private kareoke rooms too.

What a spot! Laid back in its assumption, but full of character and optionality. You can enjoy a karaoke booth or simply enjoy a meal. Most of the curries were similar, but incredibly warming and hearty - especially in the SF fog. The highlight may have been some sake though! I'd never been a particularly big fan when I've tried it before, but theirs was light and easily drinkable, especially when in their mixed drinks.

Loved the vibe of the restaurant! The staff was very nice and accommodating to our large party on a week day. I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry. The curry has a mild flavor. I wish that there was a touch more curry. Like another half a ladle full at least. The chicken was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. A few coworkers ordered the Curry Loco Moco, the Pattie looked homemade, but in need of some moisture. The spam fried looked really good. I think the price was fair for the portion size. The price is low enough to share several dishes. There is karaoke in the back. Which I would love to try next time. I would definitely come back and try other items on the menu.

Even on a night where they were understaffed, we felt very supported and service was fast and very friendly. As a party of 6, we didn't make a reservation and very appreciative they were able to accommodate us. In terms of appetizers, the asian cabbage salad and spam fries were so good! I ordered the kahlua pork quesadilla and just one half was so filling! When we ordered hot sake, the waiter recommended cold and boy, was that a great move. The sake went down so much smoother.

We had a great fun evening Thursday night. We were party of six arriving for HH; then karaoke. Our friend reserved a private karaoke room for 7pm. HH bar bites were great, and moderately priced. And it wasn't deep fried bites only. HH between 5p-7pm. Parking can be challenging. We had our good luck parking karma hat on, and found metered parking across the street. Service was great. And food items were warm out of the kitchen. We had so much fun we all agreed we'll come again. And by chance we met the owner who was a very gracious host.

One of the better meals that I've had in sf recently and great place to share. Kind of a rowdy spot (or at least loud lol) cause they do karaoke in the back but kind of fun. Reminds me of japan and lots of fun fusion, comforting food. The oxtail porridge and taisho fries were my favorite. The fries was SO well seasoned. Honestly, a great spot for a big group for shareables and good vibes.

Overall experience: 100/10 The staff was welcoming, provided great service, and had such an inviting attitude. This is honestly some of the better food I've had since moving to SF and definitely a great spot to share with others. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere made the experience even better. I ordered the chicken katsu curry and a Spam musubi, and both were so good. The Spam musubi reminded me of back home in Hawai'i, and the katsu curry was flavorful and comforting. The prices were a little on the higher side, but honestly it was worth it for the quality and nostalgia alone. I'll definitely be back & I Highly Recommend!

Came here as a group of 6 people on a busy Santa Con night and it became our group favorite. Luckily we were able to squeeze into a table and order our food. We got two Katsu Curries, Curry Loco Moco, Angel Wing Gyoza, and Furikake Fries. Service was understandably slower and it took a while for our last Katsu Curry to come out. I believe as an apology they gave us sake on the house and that night they were giving out complimentary Dole Whip & Tajin...which was delicious! Would come back here if we're in lower nob-hill again and the portions were plenty to share, as well as tasty! More generous than expected! The owner of the establishment was very warm and sweet as well.

Really cheap happy hour, you'll get big portions for about $5-$10 bucks. They have a very limited gluten free menu, and it looked like they forgot to omit the fried shallots on the furikake fries. I just didnt eat the egg, it was overcooked anyways I also ordered the edamame dip and chips and really enjoyed these. The dip was tasty

I came here for my friend's birthday celebration on a Saturday night. The kalua pork dinner plate $16 was really yummy and big portion. They add SF health care mandate fee and mandatory 20% tip for eating at the karaoke room though. I think my friend should've arranged eating dinner at their dining area, and then sing karaoke for 2 hours. Since we ate while singing karaoke, we barely talked. It was nice of them to provide water in the room and the lightening was good. The dining area has beautiful decorations. I noticed all of our plates have good big portions so I would come again, especially to try their happy hour menu 5-7pm from Sunday to Thursday.

Is there a age limit for entry?

Not as far as I know! We brought our 8-year-old and 12-year-old there and they were just fine. Lots of fun for kids as well!

The themeing is so on point inside! Some of their drinks are interactive which adds on to the themes. My friend thought the wands were available for show and borrow and got charged $20 for the wand xD I gotta say the night we went, bartender was pretty slow... it almost felt like he forgot our order bc it would take a while and when finished making drinks it was actually another groups order. The bartender wasn't super busy either. The drinks were hit or miss, espresso martini they had on the menu is probably premade bc I asked to change the liquor and he said I wouldn't be getting the one that's on the menu. Tried the one on the menu and lowkey hated it, tastes watered down and bitter. Although I tried my friends "butterbeer" cocktail and omfg if you have to order something get that. It was so good. Drink costs were about $16-$18. For me, it was nice to try and a fun experience! But probably one and done ToT

We especially liked their Hazy IPA, but the Oktoberfest was very good too. The bartender said their Kolsch is a bit of a classic, and we liked it too, but it wasn't a stand out to us. From the outside, The Beer Hall almost blended into its surroundings - I almost walked right by if it hadn't been for the neon "The Beer Hall" sign. The taproom is quite spacious and could accommodate several large groups; however, the night of our visit was relatively quiet, perhaps due to the cold weather. Since there weren't any large tables, our group spread out over three smaller tables. As people came and went throughout the evening, it was convenient that we could each order our own beer and food at the bar. I selected an IPA from Fieldwork, a local favorite, and the beer stayed cold and refreshing throughout the evening. The food menu was limited, but I was craving something warm and salty to pair with my beer. For nearly $10, the fries weren't cheap, but the plate was piled high with some of the best fries I've had in a while. They were served piping-hot alongside two dipping sauces - aioli and ketchup. My friends sitting around me couldn't resist them either, and the mountain of fries disappeared in record time. The servers at the bar were very friendly and checked in on our group often. We spent a few hours enjoying our conversation and beer, overall having a fun, laid-back evening.
