I came in to change my oil and have a state inspection. They do not have Royal Purple oil. But they do have Mobile 1. I do not use anything less than Mobile 1. Penzoil will sludge up your engine so bad...lets not go there.lol They found an oil leak in my pan..just a seal leak which I can fix. They also found that my transmission was over filled. !?! They did a good job no doubt. Only thing was they kinda left dirty hand prints on my hood and both fenders.. Had to take it to the car wash to remove greasy prints. Would have been nice for them to attempted to wipe it off but oh well..if it weren't for that they would have gotten 4 Stars but life isn't perfect. read more

*ATTENTION* If y'all could help spread this around It'd be much appreciated as corporate won't answer (due to their vm being full) and the Charles from Mesquite seems to take our situation lightly. My sister Diana Villafana took her Tuscon to get an oil change on Tuesday, July 20th at Take 5 Oil Change. We (diana, Juan and my 2 kids) embarked on a roadtrip to Oregon for a summer vacation. Well on US-95 in the middle of the Nevada Desert, the oil light came on and the car started to smoke! We pulled over and weren't sure what was going on. After 2 hrs a nice man came over and offered helped. He was a retired mechanic (who now takes care of his goats) and said that whoever did the oil probably didn't tighten the oil plug, oil screw (whatever keeps the oil from draining out). Well he was right be cause the nice man came 1hr later with some oil and sure enough it just went through. While this is happening we are waiting for roadside assistance. Another hour later another man comes by, another retired mechanic (now he raises lobsters) and he tried to find us a plug, but nope no luck. I KOD YOU NOT, WE WERE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT FOR 6 HOURS WAITING TO BE TOWED. When we finally got towed the nice people towed us to Reno, NV. There at the dealership we had to leave the car. This was not planned for. We had to quickly book something online (yall it was Friday, and everything near was booked!). Then when we got the hotel we couldn't find an UBER because we had a large party (5). The dealership literally was going to give us a ride, but alas we found an uber. On Saturday we get the call from the mechanic at the dealership who gives us the diagnostic results. It was Take 5 Oil Change fault (the one in Mesquite). Now the engine is shot. We had to stay in the hotel for 3 nights (which we didn't budget for), while we figured a way back home. We were without a car so we had to frantically look for uberxl whenever we wanted to got anywhere (which we didn't budget for) and pray there'd be one availableto return to the hotel (again it was the weekend and couldn't find a rental anywhere). We are on our way back today on a flight that again we didn't budget for. Here was the response from Charles. "I can't do anything." "I'm in Texas I can't do anything." "I can't do anything until we have a guy go out there on Monday" (and that was AFTER my parents who were in Mesquite went up there to talk with him). My service tech Simon noticed that I was a veteran and called out "military veteran on lane 3", then every tech in the garage yelled out "thank you for your service". I have came to this location twice, the first time I brought my own oil and everything went well, for the most part. We heard a slight rattle for the next three months but just put it off until it became an issue. After we hit the miles recommended to get an oil change we return again & once again everything went smoothly. There was a guy there talking to me and entertaining me and my passenger while they 'worked' on the car. We didn't bring our own oil so it was a bit pricey but we were okay with that. Last week my father-in-law decided to do a tune up on our car, he drains the oil and replaces the filter and tells us that the oil looks like it hasn't been changed in 6 months, that it looks black. Then he tells us that the oil filter was so loose he removed it by hand. Then it clicked.. the reason why the mechanic was entertaining us was to distract us from the fact that they were bulls***ing our oil change. I will never come here again and will spread the word of this fraudulent activity. read more

Typically, I'm in and out in 20 minutes. Today, at 9:00am on the 23 of April 2021 I've been waiting an hour just to start. I'll try one more time after this, then move over to another facility. Jalen was great once they got to me. Started my change at 9:50am. Update: once my oil change started, 3 more guys showed up. Seems they run a small crew until 10:00am. Makes sense since they're open until 6. Will definitely return. More expensive, but I don't have to get out of my car, and it usually is very quick. Definitely not the fastest oil change, for one. I waited an hour to get into the service area, only 3 cars ahead of me. Trust me, I get it. Sometimes, especially on a Sunday services may take longer. I had two guys come to my car and make me scoot my car a few inches to get more people in line. They asked what I was here for and I said a oil change. I'll cut to the point... an hour later I get to the service area and had my hood popped. The guy to work on my car said he'd be back in 5 min, that's fine. 15 min go by and he's still messing with ugh the truck to the left with another serviceman. So another man comes and looks under my hood, closes it, walks away, then comes back two more times and does the same thing. Finally he comes to my window and has some excuse as to why he can't service my car. Ok? So I had to wait an hour just for them to tell me they can't work on my car. To be honest the service was super exceptional at this location and over beyond what I was expecting while pulling in for an Oil change. Currently with the world how we are living they have a drive thru service with extremely friendly workers and exceptional superb service that I have never received from any simple auto service location in my life. Got my oil changed her before heading to Oklahoma last week. I made it to Sherman before I had to pull over when my oil light came on. There was a lot of smoke and the smell of burning oil... I opened the hood and the oil cap was gone.. there was oil everywhere and it was smoking like crazy! Keep in mind it's 102 outside and now I'm stuck! I called the store and I was told there wasn't anything they could do, if I brought the truck back they would clean up the mess! I didn't want to drive without an oil cap, so we sat in the hot car until my sister could come get us and take us to get a new oil cap. Bleh... I cancelled my trip and took the truck back before they closed and they cleaned up the mess, still smells like burning oil every time I use my truck and I'm not yet confident there was no permanent damage... The manager (who was the same guy who did my oil change and signed the "safety check" on my invoice) was nice and gave me a refund after I asked him to, he even refunded me the money for the oil cap, so I gave them an extra star. Um this place was awesome. Super quick service. When I drove up they gave me a cold bottle of water and told me to drive in. I had no idea that all I had to do was sit in my car. It was so nice. I came in for an oil change and was greeted with a bottle of water. Three gentlemen and a lovely lady finished my oil change fairly quickly and it was suggested I change my air filter and perform a coolant flush. I only agreed since another location suggested it the last time I came in but I declined. The cost of the coolant flush was a bit steep in my opinion but after the employee realized I didn't have any coupons he offered one to me. Another employee answered all of my questions and gave me advice on where I could find a part I needed since they were out of stock at the store. ATTENTION: I was a customer and last week on Tuesday I got an oil change with them IN TEXAS. My car broke down in the middle of the desert IN NEVADA with not just me but my sister, her two kids and husband. It took 6 hours for someone to help us out. After taking it to the NEAREST dealership (more than 2 hours away from our break down) and getting a diagnosis, take 5 has yet to take responsibility. Had to get an oil change on Mother's Day before heading back home to Austin. The employees were very friendly and offered both my mom and I drinks as they worked on my car. 25% off military when I went this past weekend!! Jermaine the manager was very sweet, I had a coupon I used and didn't tell him in time to apply it but he still honored it. I had an oil change, it ended up being $37, I really needed air in my tires but their machine was broken so Jermaine apologized and gave me a card with a few coupons for next time. Discount Tire always has free air check though so I just went to one on my way home and got it taken care of, no big deal. read more
