I got my oil change at another facility after being a customer here for awhile and learned that due to the poor service and lack of training from the staff, they damaged parts of my car and stripped my oil plug to the extent that the good mechanics at Pomp's could barely get it out and had to order a replacement part for me. Long story short, this business is the worst. Poor and rude staff, high prices, long wait times, and more. I've had issues just about every time I've been in and it doesn't seem to be a one time thing from this company. Save yourself the money on new parts and car repairs that this place will add to your bill and go elsewhere. So I just moved to Tampa from Maui and had my truck shipped over, always keeping it in mind I knew it was time to get an oil change. I usually do this myself although I don't have any of my tools. While driving and also researching some places previously, I came across Take 5. I saw that this place offers military discounts so I stopped by to ask for an estimate. Immediately I was greeted by Kanye, awesome 18 yr old young man who was polite and professional. He was very kind and informative while being interested in my vehicle and where I was from. Couldn't have asked for a better welcoming. After discussing the estimate he looked up the total cost and then told me what it was after the discount, I couldn't pass up this great deal. They began to work on my vehicle and I noticed how safe and intelligent they were with mechanics. I was shown the new air filter being installed as well as the new oil filter. I watched as torque wrenches were used and they really kept cleanliness in mind. I was seriously out of there in minutes. I was so impressed I would never consider going anywhere else in the future. I went for an oil change and immediately after a low oil pressure light came on, which can destroy your engine. I went back was told everything was done correctly and to take it to a full service shop. After $120 and an overnight stay, it was determined the wrong filter was used. Now I have been unable to get ahold of anyone at the store and no call back after messages left. Will update if I am reimbursed for repair cost. Also, $70+ for an oil change is a rip off. So I have taken my car here for oil changes. This time was different. My friend who is a mechanic was helping me change my battery and said he was going to check my oil since he was there already. First thing he said was "when was the last time you got your oil changed" I told him last month. He proceeded to tell me and SHOW me how low my oil was. The next day I go to autozone the guy confirmed it was low and it's not the first time he hears this happening with this company. If you have kids and have to work in oil changes between work and pick ups and drop offs and whatever else, this is the place to go. They advertise on being really fast, and they were indeed really fast. I was in and out in about 7 minutes total, from driving up to driving out. They showed me the 4 or 5 oil options with the price clearly marked along with how many miles each was good for. I wouldn't say they tried to upsell me, they just read them and asked me to pick. And when I didn't pick the most expensive one, they didn't try to talk me into something more. I interacted with two employees and both were pleasant and friendly. They had a tiny Zephyrhills water bottle for me and a Capri Sun for my son. The price seemed on par with the other major chains. Definitely more money than if I go to my personal mom and pop mechanic, but also way way way faster. read more

After a long day at work,the last thing anyone wants to do is get an oil change. But, I've been passing this place for weeks and decided to swing in on a Friday at 5:45pm. Hey, at least it's one less Saturday errand to deal with, right? Well, these guys were great! Soon as you pull up they direct you into the garage. Hand you a cold water bottle and while your sitting in your car, one guy is getting your info for the computer, the other one is already underneath the car working! Went here after moving from St Pete. The 4th St location there is amazing. Unfortunately I did not receive the same level of service here. Was never offered water and had to wait a very long time even though there was only one other car there with 5 workers present. When finishing up my car they had a line develop and one of the guys started loudly complaining about it. I felt awkward as I was one of those customers he was complaining about. Also he printed out that my car had 200k miles when it only had 20k. I pointed out the error to him only because of the different oil types used for both. He got kind of defensive and then had someone else give me a hand written sticker with the correct number. I didn't care that there was a typo. I just wanted to make sure I was given the correct oil. Anyway two stars because at least they put my oil tank cap back on unlike what they did to a previous reviewer. I love take 5 oil change. I've been using them for years, but this location is poorly managed. There was two cars in the bays when I arrived and only one person working. I waited an hour for them to get to my car (by then there was 6 cars waiting). They changed my oil quickly and sent me on my way. My car started shaking after I left so I pulled over to look under my hood. THEY FORGOT TO PUT THE OIL CAP BACK ON. I don't blame this on the kid working. I blame this on poor management and having one person try an keep up with the business demands while two other people stand around doing nothing. I'll never come back to this location and I highly recommend anyone else to go elsewhere.. They should really understand the liability aspect this poses. A total rip off and they totaled my car! Went for an oil change for my Scion xD and they charged me 99$ which is the most I've ever been charged for an oil change for this type of car. Later to find out my oil started leaking directly afterwards and my car started making a weird noise by the time I took it to the mechanic they told me there was no oil in my car and that my engine was ruined and that it would cost 7000$ for a new engine and labor. Now I'm in scrambles trying to buy a new car and I wasn't prepared for this! If I could give this place zero stars I would. read more

My son took his car here and since he knows nothing about cars (new driver) they charged him $35 more than the dealership itself charges, and it left dripping oil which resulted in us having to change out 2 pavers in our drive. I sent him back and they were non apologetic and said it was overflow from when poured in. I had tried calling to discuss and they never answer the phone for a straight 4 hours, while the shop was open it went to voicemail. So summary is they charged WAY to much and did a sloppy job especially for what they charged! read more

I visited your 4319 Ehrlich Rd, Tampa, FL 33624 location today and had a terrible experience. I pulled up and a guy named Nick approached me. I rolled my window down and asked him how much the oil changes were. He paused for a little while and said that the oil changes started at $69.99 to $80, but that the one for my car would the $79.99. I was shocked to hear the prices he was quoting me because I have been to this location in the past and the oil changes were not that expensive, I never paid more than $30 something. I saw a big sign that said 25% discount and he did not mention the discount to me. He then proceeded to tell me that his credit card reader was not working and that he could only take CASH. But something in his demeanor did not seem right, my intuition told me that he was lying to try to take some extra cash for himself. I told him the prices were too high and left. I decided to confirm if Nick was trying to steal because I was concerned for other women., so I drove to another take 5 location nearby, the 5309 Gunn Hwy, Tampa one. I pulled up and asked how much oil changes were and was told that with the 25% discount, it would be about $35 with taxes and fees for my car, that the regular price was $42 minus the discount. I went back to the Erlich location and confronted Nick for lying and trying to steal. He was so nervous that he was almost shaking. I told him how wrong it is to try to steal from someone and told him that I was going to report this to corporate, and his response was "Do what you got to do." He did not even deny lying to me. I called the other guy working with him, Raymond, and told him what happened, but I wonder if he was in it with him. He agreed the credit card reader was not working, but when I mentioned the higher prices Nick was trying to charge me, he did not say anything. I was very upset and drove off. We stopped by Take 5 Oil Change while traveling from Kentucky. (Didn't get a chance to change oil before leaving home and now it was a necessity)! We saw this place and pulled in. What a great choice that was. The nicest employees came out, gave us two bottles of cold water and guided us in. The paperwork as well as the oil change went quickly and smoothly. They noted that our air filter was clean and NOT in need of replacing as well as our wiper blades were nearly new. They checked the air pressure in our tires and replaced all the little caps, as ours were wearing out. They used a high grade oil, reset our oil light, and gave us a military discount, as my husband is a Vietnam Nam vet. If I lived in Tampa I would do all my oil changes here. So I have been to two different of your locations and had very similar experiences at both. The staff wasn't very organized or knowledgeable about what they were doing. Which made you feel like they weren't trained or competent enough to work on your vehicle. Upon completion of both of my services I immediately stopped at the nearest gas station to check out my vehicle and both times I had greasy hand prints all over my hood and fenders. When I opened my hood my engine cover was not securely fastened. Neither was my air filter housing. What upset me the most is upon checking my oil level (because I drive a Jeep I paid for an extra quart) it barely registered at the very bottom of my dipstick and you and I both know that means that they shorted me my extra quart of oil. Which could have caused significant damage to my vehicle if not caught. I am very disappointed in the service that I received at both of these locations and to top it off your prices are extremely high for the poor quality of service that you provide and the poor training of your staff. I will not be a returning customer and will be highly recommending my family and friends take their vehicles elsewhere. read more
