Well on this particular Friday it just seemed easier to come here for an oil change instead of going to one of thr many dealerships around the Valley. I pulled in just before 9 a.m. and waited a few minutes for an attendant to acknowledge my arrival. This entails a brief greeting, the offer of a chilled bottle of water, the request for current mileage, followed by instructions pertaining to being guided forward when car ahead in slot pulls out. No lobby, no reception area, you just sit in your car while they complete the service. And it's more than just an oil change. It's 924 a.m. now and they just rolled me/my vehicle into the bay. I was advised that they'll proceed once they have completed service on the vehicle in bay to my right. So basically, three vehicles ahead of my arrival and it's been a reasonable wait. 932 a.m. and they begin the oil change process -me picking the oil change service (Advanced Full Synthetic 120.99 +12.99 per extra qt -under 75,000 mi vs. $122.99 +13.99 per extra qt. at the high end and $51.99 + 7.99 per qt on the low end. (SEE PIC). Quick tip, go to their website and you'll find coupons. That's what I did while waiting for service to get started. It's a small savings but enough to buy you a special coffee. Isaiah, the main attendant at window and register, courteous and informative. Gerardo, the gentleman doing the oil change, cleaning off my windshield, also asking if i had questions, concerns, or needed anything else, also courteous and efficient. 953 a.m., service completed, safety checks done, and I'm pulling out of service bay. Overall it was quick, easy, and less stressful that trying to make an appointment at the dealership. I took my Acura ILX into the Take5 Tempe location (8805 S. Mcclintok Dr., Tempe, AZ 85284) for an oil change on Saturday, 10/11. They changed my oil (full synthetic) and recommended I get air and cabin filters, which I did and paid $188 out the door. On the Monday after, a lot of white smoke started coming out from under my hood. As I opened it, there was coolant liquid splattered out of the radiator cap. I did not want to drive it as it seemed unsafe, and had it towed, a cost of $150 to my Acura dealership. They inspected the vehicle and the reason was that the coolant cap was NOT put on there properly, which caused the spillage and smoke, with no other issues of any kind found. It was simply because the Take5 technician that worked on my car did not seal it. With their time to take a look at this to diagnose, it came to a $285 bill. And $20 for my Lyfts. So with that being said, I spent $455 out of my pocket to also pay $188 oil change with filters from you. This is outrageous. This was completely Take5's mistake. I just went over to the location now to explain the situation and an employee told me that a manager was not around and that I can stop by and talk to them tomorrow. And gave me a claim phone number to call, in which when I called, the inbox was full. This is ridiculous. I have to make a claim when it cost me double to take care of an issue Take5 is responsible for? I will stop by the shop again tomorrow to talk to the manager, but I have never seen or dealt such a lack of care for customers. read more

I've taken two different vehicles here and was not super happy either time, so never again. The first time was with my truck and they advertise such a quick oil change but it still took 33 minutes. When I asked about the two different synthetic oils they carry, I was told, "oh, ones better" and that was it. They stared at me as I stared back at them and I finally said, "oh, it's BETTER?! I guess that's probably why it costs more?" They also didn't offer any real preventative Maintanence services so if I need any of that, I have to go somewhere else. The second time was in my accord and was about the same deal. This time the workers were cool and nice but they really did not know much about the stuff they sell. Again, their 10 minute oil change took a little over 30 minutes. I asked the same question about the oil given it was a different crew this time and the answer was that "the one has a different consistency" Really?! I actually looked up the two oils and found the info myself but they don't offer much confidence that they know what is going on or that they know about their products. read more

I waited over an hour for the oil change & paid twice as much for "convenience" only for them to strip my oil plug and cause an oil leak. I've called twice to get a refund. The first time they said they'd call me back and 3 days later, no call. The second time they said they would forward it for someone to call me back. I just wanted a refund. It was a regular sunday and needed some service ( oil change ) on my Honda Civic. Jose and Isaiah were both on shift and were highly effective getting me in and out not only in a timely manner but a professional one. They greeted me with water, gave me an in depth understanding regarding my coolant, air filter, and oil change. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone needing an oil change. read more

This place is located right on the SE corner of Ray and McClintock. I have a guy who I normally go to for all mechanic work (See review on Robs Auto Repair). He is excellent but does not work on weekends. So I needed an oil change and was going to be busy during the week for a few weeks. One Saturday I drove all around Chandler and stopped in at a bunch of places including Jiffy Lube, Sun Devil, and other places. About 5-6 places had no time or the wait was 2-3 hours. I finally came across this Take 5. I got in to one of the 3 stalls. If you look at the other reviews, the negative reviews are correct. Yes they have 3 people working on one car so it is less efficient then it can be. Yes their prices are high (see photo). For a high mileage synthetic oil change it cost me over $100 when normally I pay about $70. So it was expensive and less efficient but it was on a Saturday and got it done in about 45 mins. When you are desperate and many other places have no availability it will work. I did not have a problem with a leak and it did take 6 quarts but my oil is at the right level and looks clean on the dipstick. read more

DO NOT BOTHER COMING TO THIS LOCATION!! They had 3 guys working on 1 vehicle. Actually they were standing around the vehicle. One guy was on the phone walking around and not helping anyone. When I arrived they brought me a water and told me it was a 30 minute wait so I said ok I will wait. 45 minutes later still no help. When I finally pulled into a bay the pricing was $ 102 for a synthetic oil change. Plus $7 for waste / disposal. A basic oil change with regular oil was $53 plus a $7 fee. The gentleman running the shop was quite knowledgeable and very educational of the variety of services they offered and the items they were selling. I was thankful for this. STAY AWAY!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! On Wednesday, November 22nd My daughter took her car to have her oil changed on her Chevy Cruze at the McClintock & Warner Rd. After waiting for over an hour they finally asked her to pull forward to change her oil and of course, they took another 30-40 minutes and it takes 3 people to do the work. Now, why I'm writing this review. When they change the oil, remember they will also pull both air filters for you to look at them to see if they need to be replaced and this was where the problem occurred. After the oil change, my daughter went straight home and didn't drive the car again until Monday, November 27th, and on Tuesday the 28th the check engine light came on and the car started driving horribly with a bad stutter step. We took it to AutoZone for a quick diagnostic check and they gave us the error codes which we had no idea what it meant so I had to take it to Machenic to look at. Well, it turns when they reinstalled the air filter they re-installed it incorrectly and ended up damaging the air retainer. In this case, it allowed air to travel to the fuel injection system and made the car drive horrible. The total repair cost to fix this was $510! When I say stay away from this place, do so!! read more

My boyfriend and I came to get his oil changed and we had the best experience. It was our first time coming as we usually would go to a big brand to get it done. We'll never again this Take 5 is going to be our now go to. All employees were so kind and helpful. They kept checking in to make sure we were okay while waiting in line. We had Isaac and Jaylan working on the car and they were amazing. They communicated to us about everything, checked with us about different things, and were just so friendly. I just wasted 55 minutes sitting in a bay while at least three kids were busy working on a truck two bays over. We were the only two vehicles there. I'm not sure why they need three or more people to do an oil change or have three bays if you're only going to service one vehicle at a time. I got tired of waiting and left. Tried this place for the first time and I definitely recommend this location at least. Our advisor was Shane great guy! They give you different options. They check and top off your liquids. Their communication is awesome. I had the oil, air filter and cabin filter changed. All thru the process the crew was quick and clean. I really felt bad because the day was a scorcher. The company should place more fans in the pit. What I most like about this experience is that it took them no more than a half hour and I was out, my car done!. Went in for an oil change as soon as my alert came on. After about 25 minutes worth of work my oil and filter charge was complete. I then left, ran some errands, then headed home. Got in my car the following morning and noticed my check engine light, and oil light had turned on. Took it right back to the shop, turns out the crew the day before failed to replace the 5 quarts of oil my car requires! Then had the nerve to ask me why I was driving the car?! maybe because I thought you had completed the service I paid 130 bucks for! My engine could have been destroyed! We had an oil change done at one of their locations...............it doesn't matter which one as this review indicates the level of corporate influence and control. Employees that know and understand corporate expectations do not function this way!! Does the corp. have any expectations or QC? We were traveling across country when our oil change was due. All seemed somewhat OK at the facility but I felt a bit uneasy in the customer service. Upon my return to home, I was doing some other routine maintenance on my vehicle when I noticed the metal engine protection plate under our vehicle was not reinstalled after the service. This has caused me an additional $80+ for a replacement after spending about $90 for the oil change. I would NEVER return to one of these facilities ever again. read more

Okay, bad news first! The prices are crazy expensive. Their base price is $15 over dealership service pricing. At the dealership you get an oil change, multipoint inspection, and a tire rotation for less then the base price at Take 5. After receiving significant discounts I accepted service and was very happy to see the amount of attention that went into my oil change. The crew were young but knowledgeable (An oil change doesn't require a Masters degree). The amount of care that was provided ensuring my service was perfect was top notch. JaTwan and the team were great. Seriously, they really were amazing. Listening to the team work sounded like being in a 5 star kitchen, crew calling out orders, technicians making checks, verifications, double, triple checks, Manager signoff, customer signoff. It was really impressive. Despite having a great experience, I wont be back. You are paying more money for less service. I am also not a fan of their sales model. Offer a service at a price, customer declines service, then offer same service with a significant discount. Seriously, just start with a good price and keep the service exactly as is. read more
