My husband and I came here for brunch and had a really nice experience. When we arrived, we were told to sign in to the waitlist but I had already checked in online (great option if you don't want to wait too long), the host sorted it out quickly and had us seated within a few minutes. She initially sat us inside, but when we asked to move to the patio, she gladly accommodated with a smile! As soon as we sat down, we were immediately brought waters and utensils. The outdoor patio is super cute and clean (just a heads up if you hate flies, they were a little annoying, but that's outdoor seating for you!). We waited a bit for the food, but it was worth it. I ordered the crème brûlée French toast with a side of crispy bacon, and it was so yummy-the sugar coating was perfectly crunchy and the center was nice and moist, plus it came with delicious cream and berries. My husband got the kimchi omelette (which had spam and pork) and the seasoning was absolutely perfect. Luckily it wasn't too busy today so that made the visit that much better. This was my second time coming here, and I absolutely love this brunch spot! The restaurant is on the smaller side, so I've had to wait about 40 minutes each time, but the food and customer service make it 100% worth it. The first time I visited, I had to sit outside, and the staff even brought out a fan to help keep the flies away, which I thought was such a thoughtful touch. So far, I've tried the longanisa bowl, fluffy ube mango pancakes, pork belly bowl, and chicken bowl, and every dish has been delicious. I especially love that the fluffy pancakes aren't overly sweet, so they're perfectly balanced. My favorite dish is definitely the longanisa bowl. Came here after a short hike in Chino Hills and it did not disappoint, it has a very modern approach but its delicious! I did not get to try their super fluffy hot cakes but that was only because I was so full from their eggs and potatoes . The potatoes are crunchy and their eggs are so rich in flavor. I ordered an orange juice because it was a hot day and it did not disappoint. service is amazing, everyone is so quick to assist and make sure you are well taken care of. I hate to leave 3 stars for any place, especially for a place where it's not necessarily the service was the issue! I think if anything, it's more like a 3.5/5 My boyfriend and I came on a Monday around 11:20AM. I had joined the waitlist on yelp and checked in when we arrived. They offered to seat us outside, but it was kinda chilly that day so we opted to just wait for a seat to open up, which was about 10-15mins. Upon being seated, she informed us of their souffle pancake, which is what they were known for before leaving us to browse the menu. I was super excited to try it since this is all I've heard about this restaurant. We were kinda left there for a while before a gentleman came to take our order. We ordered the spam musubi, their seasonal strawberry cheesecake cloud souffle pancake, and TUS breakfast sandwich subbing fries for home fries, and a cup of orange juice. Orange juice: I love me a cup of freshly squeezed oj and not many places have them (typically it it tastes like bottled oj). BUT!!!! this oj as 100% freshly squeezed and it was soooo good. If you like freshly squeezed oj and crave that natural sweetness, this is a must. Spam musubi: very flavorful! I really liked the sauce they used for the inside it and it was a great way to start the meal. The downside is that the spam slice was pretty thin and the musubi itself did fall apart pretty easily, which made it very messy to eat. TUS breakfast sandwich: the sandwich had great flavor and was huge. My boyfriend really enjoyed it and found it to be very filling. I liked the home fries a lot, seasoned very well and so crispy. Strawberry cheesecake cloud pancake: I won't lie...I was kinda disappointed with this. It was a huge portion, which is good if you want to have your money's worth. The strawberry flavor was pretty subtle and it tasted more like strawberry pocky. The pancakes themselves were pretty dense and not as airy as I would prefer it though, so I was full after like 1.5 pieces. The cream on the pancakes was a good balance though so it wasn't too sweet. It also had cheesecake bits, which was good too. Overall, the food was just okay. I think if I were to come back, I'd probably get something else. As to why I had take away some stars, the wait for the pancakes were kinda insane. I think it was like 15 mins? and I wouldn't mind had I been told how long it would take, my bf was already halfway done with his meal by the time my order came. On top of that, another group of two that came in after us was able to get their orders and finish before the pancakes came out....which kinda made me feel like were forgotten, especially because no one came to update me. It was also kinda difficult to wave someone down since no one really walked by us. When we were ready to pay, we waited like ten minutes for the check to come out. Only after locking eyes with one of the servers did they finally come to tell us that they were working on the check and was running into issues. Again, another instance in which early communication would've been appreciated vs letting us just sit there and wonder what was going on. Don't get me wrong, they were very nice and accommodating (the table behind us had an antsy baby and they were able to accommodate them and moved them to a bigger table/space). However, the lack in communication about orders and issues did sour this experience. This place seems to be always busy even on a Monday afternoon. The inside seating area is very small. We chose to be seated outside in their small patio since there is no wait for outside seating. We had their Berry Cloud pancake and Big Five breakfast. The berry cloud pancakes were soft and fluffy just as advertised. It is served with whipped cream, strawberries, blueberries and a side of fruit preserves. It is like a cross between an Asian sponge cake and pancake. It was delicious all by itself without the fruit preserves. The Big Five breakfast item was also good. I especially liked the Longanisa sausage. We also had an iced Americano and a hot Americano. Both coffee were no good. We did not liked the taste of their coffee. No amount of creamer can make it taste better. Their coffee was the worst part of our meal. I'm quite disappointed that I didn't have the experience I was hoping for. Quite a few people recommended this place to me. I wasn't feeling well enough to go to work, so I decided to buy some breakfast one day to eat something good and get some rest. I did a phone order and the person working that day convinced me to try their seasonal apple cloud cakes and I also got a pandan coffee. Drove over to pick up the food. I watched my order get packed and noticed the cashier asked the cook about some item in my order. Sure enough when I got home, no apples in my cakes at all and the coffee wasn't good. I decided to give them a call and a different employee than the one in person picked up. I shared that part of the order was missing and the coffee wasn't good. She went back and forth with another person and then told me next time I come in and order other stuff they will give me the apples for free. Next time? Lmao that was their initial offer... that I would get a side of apples with whatever I was going to order the next time I come in. I said no. Eventually someone else came on the phone and was willing to offer a full refund because both items I ordered were not up to par. Parking: I came here after a hike around noon on a weekend. The parking lot was actually pretty crowded even though it was a big lot. You can probably get parking more easily if you park a bit farther away from the restaurant. Exterior: There were some benches outside for people waiting. Unfortunately for me, it was a pretty warm day and there wasn't any shade. Interior: The restaurant is a decent size but it was very busy so it felt a bit crowded. Service: I waited for about an hour for a table. The waitress was very nice and came to check up on us a couple of times. Food: I got the Tip Me Over Plate which came with a tri tip in chimichurri sauce, eggs, tomatoes, potatoes, and fruits. Unfortunately, my steak was overcooked. Saw Take Ur Seat and the soufflé pancakes definitely called to me. As such, we signed up for the waitlist and headed over to reduce our wait....or so we thought. Upon arriving, we were waitlist #3 but noticed it never improved so we went to ask the host and was informed that they had called our table but we didn't respond so they moved on. What?! Why turn on waitlist if you weren't going to use it properly! We were informed that we would now have to wait 45 minutes because we are at the back of the list (mind you, still being #3) so we pretty much decided to give up. After expressing some frustration we decided to leave but just after turning out of the lot, Take Ur Seat called us and suddenly made a table available. Weird? Upon sitting down we immediately put in the order for the soufflé pancakes and ordered some coffees. The lattes came out first but were kind of lukewarm and the house coffee required a couple follow-ups. Refills also required a lot of asking. Service wasn't the best, if you haven't realized it yet. When it came to our meal, the pork belly bowl was properly delicious and we also really enjoyed both soufflé pancakes. The crème brûlée French toast was also a hit with the kids. Paid a visit to take ur seat during for weekend brunch, and it was about an hour wait until we got seated. You can't join the wait-list via yelp, as you'll only be able to join once you arrive. We got the belly2belly bowl, which came with spinach, pork belly and a poached egg over rice. The pork belly sauce over the rice was really tasty and the sides were delicious, although I was hoping for a more tender pork belly. We also tried the U2 cheesy, which was essentially a grilled cheese and fries. Good, but nothing to write home about. The last item was the berry good cloud pancake, which was delicious and there's a reason it's one of their top dishes. It comes with three soft and fluffy souffle pancakes and a side of berry compote and some fruit. From what Ive heard, the souffle pancake is a difficult technique to master and they do it well. Do note that the pancake will take 25-30 mins (which the server warns you about). As for ambiance, it was nice and lively (although a bit crowded for my tastes). The waitress informed us the pancakes will take 30 minutes to prepare, but they are able to bring our rice bowl and drinks early. They also provided us extra plates for sharing as well. The waiter and waitresses also were attentive and provided water when our cups were empty and took away our dirty plates quickly. The overall service was great. Onwards to the food, the Pandan Sweet Tea was very sweet. It was actually too sweet for my pallet, but I can taste the Pandan flavors. The Belly 2 Belly rice was delicious. The pork belly was fatty and crisp, providing great texture and flavors. The spinach helps balance out the dish's richness. Finally, the star of the show, the pancakes. These were the best souffle pancakes I've had. Delicate and fluffy, and the pancakes were the perfect sweetness. Add on the fresh berries, the pancakes were the best way to end the meal. Quite frankly it's some of the best brunch food I have ever had. There are tons of super yummy sweet and savory choices. The staff is kind and on it. They had a special posted on Instagram (if you liked the post, showed it to server, and said secret word you got a cloud pancake free!), for a free Cookies N Scream pancake for the month of October and I was thrilled since I've been wanting to try their cloud pancakes. It didn't disappoint. Fluffy and delicious - didn't remind me of a pancake at all. My boyfriend ordered the TUS Breakfast Sandwich and it looked great and came with a ton of delicious fries covered in tasty seasoning. I opted for the Tofu Mushroom Bowl which was out of my comfort zone since I've never had eggs with rice. Glad I did because yum! And the tofu was seasoned perfectly. Bakers and Baristas really knows how to make brunch feel special. I kicked things off with their Mexican Sidecar, a double shot of espresso with cooked whiskey syrup (no alcohol). It was smooth, rich, and had just the right amount of sweetness. Honestly, it's the kind of drink that wakes you up in the best way. We decided to share the Cookies M Scream Pancakes as our "appetizer" and it was the best decision ever. Fluffy cloud pancakes topped with milk tea cream, crushed Oreos, and fresh strawberries, each bite was soft, sweet, and a little playful. It disappeared from the table pretty quickly. This is a loooong overdue review for the brunch spot that's putting Chino Hills on the map. When I think OG cloud pancakes before the hype even started in SoCal, I think Take Ur Seat. Filipino-inspired? Indonesian-inspired? God-inspired? Whatever they're doing, they're doing it right. How you have a line out the door every time with that many people and somehow still make me feel like family? It's part of the magic being there. You feel at home and you truly feel the love. Belly 2 Belly's been my go-to but I swear everything there is chef's kiss. It's no wonder they pack the house out every weekend. This place is primed for it, from their atmosphere to their hearty meals. Local Coffee came outta here too, setting yet another golden standard in ultimate brunch spots to visit. They ain't your mediocre diner coffee, trust me on that. Take Ur Seat has been so successful in their initial run, they expanded to like.. 5 more locations around LA and SB county. I seen em featured on IG a handful of times too. On my bias though, the OG Chino Hills location will always be the most special. And maybe because it's the one closest to me. Portion to price might be on the higher end for $18. Longanisa was tasty and hit the spot. The rendang curry has completely different interpretations and taste. Not your typical South East Asian style. The meat was tender. The sauce was on lighter side. The sambal hit the spot and complement the meal. Very friendly servers, and we were seated immediately for a party of 4 on a busy Sunday morning. It was on the patio and was a little chilly but they made sure to turn on the heat lamps. The food was good, I got a side of home fries & egg along with the pancakes. The potatoes were super good ! The pancakes were good just not my cup of tea. The orange juice was also good.
