Consistently wonderful! Great portions & great food! Beautiful outdoor seating in the summer time!!!!!

Food was good but nothing stood out to make this place a must stop.

Although the seating inside was empty, it took 1 hour to be seated inside. We did have a large party of 9 adults, so we waited. All the reviews said the food was good. I wish I could say that was true but it was not. I ordered a patty melt with onion rings as my side. When my food came I received a burger patty on bread (not toasted) with an onion ring (not grilled onions). Accompanied with 3 onion rings as my side. The meat had good flavor but this meal certainly did not meet my expectations. The service was ok, our server was very friendly and kept our drinks filled. The other people I was with felt the same. Sorry I don't have more positive things to say. read more

The friendliest service adds the last star:) I imagined the cooks could not execute the refined menu offerings and was so surprised and humbled by the gourmet meal we got!! Definitely have the cottage pie! I've had cottage pie across the country and this was at the top of the "best" list. It doesn't actually come in a pie crust, however the top is layered with potatoes and cheese and perfectly browned. The pie is filled with gravy, vegetables, and ground BUFFALO meat, delish! The boyfriend had the buffalo burger, which he wolfed down without incident and proclaimed it to be one of the best burgers ever. They do not do breakfast, so hit up Vida Cafe for that! :) They do make food to go, and have a large selection of pizzas. read more

Really great mixed drinks! Not a "bar" but they have a unique drink menu with 5-6 different cocktails that have always been delicious. Great home style food with a salad bar. Haven't had the pizza but it did look wonderful. Lots of seating so if the parking lot looks full go on in anyway you'll get seated easily. Wait staff are friendly. read more

Nice garden except for the yellow jackets and Mosquitos . Nice wide ranging menus advertising all varieties of specialized and locally sourced products. I have my doubts on this count. For breakfast we ordered the "fresh made " hash browns. If by fresh they meant freshly rehydrated, then that would have been accurate. Having spent several seasons in the food service industry, I can tell the rehydrated carton Sysco kind from the real thing. I am ok eating these if that is what your write in your menu, but you clearly indicate and highlight the freshness on your menu, which is my problem. It is patently dishonest to do so. I actually had better and fresher hashbrowns in the Portland airport. This makes me wonder what else is on the menu that is not as you claim. Enthusiastic and optimistic tourists are easily duped. Is the cheese really artesianal? Is the buffalo really buffalo? I' m from NC, so I know the pulled pork is less than legit. Where's the smoker? Liked the salad bar, liked my burger which was perfectly cooked, but doubt it was as organic and local as claimed. Liked my French toast which was exactly as I like of the egg dipped Texas toast variety . Just make your menu servings reflect their dubious claims or adjust the actual menu and you would get 4.5 stars. No one likes being taken advantage of. Your food is executed well enough, the staff friendly and competent, the iPads are a nice if not hipster touch, just don't lie to me and we can all get along. read more

Delicious, with large portions, reasonable prices, a mix of standard & craft beers, good service, & was open til 9 pm. Sasquatch burger & shepherd's pie both so good & well-prepared. Sweet potato waffle fries were a little off - overcooked a bit so lacking in real sweet-potatoey flavor. (The less-cooked ones in the batch were the best.) If we lived here, we'd probably be back often. read more

This place is literally a 45 minute drive from our house, and worth every minute of it. Everything I have tried on the menu I have loved, and sitting outside at the McKenzie is a great place to hang out with family and also have great food. read more

As a local, I eat a Takotas quite often as it is the only restaurant in the area worth going to. I enjoy catching up on local news with the servers. The food is consistently very good. They have a great breakfast menu and are always accommodating. It's hard to find a place these days where.your coffee cup never goes dry. Well, mine never does at Takotas. The coffee is fresh ground and an eye opener on these cold winter mornings. I'm not a big fan of the pizza. Just not my style or to my taste. I've found everything thing else on the menu consistently good. Some of the specials latley have me wondering, but I stick to the menu. The other caution is the prices. Kinda spendy. I know the location is out there, but still, it's up there. A special prize for you men out there. You must take a trip to the men's room. A very unique sight awaits you! Overall the best food and service on the river. A little pricy, but money well spent if you want more than a deep fried chicken strip on a stick. read more

While on vacation, my two boys and I stopped at Takoda's for breakfast. We were seated and set there for at least 5 minutes before the waitress came to take our drink order. We decided on our food and waited 25 to 30 before it came. The food was less than average and the coffee left a lot to be desired. read more

This restaurant is so gross. Went in the other day me and my husband were about the only people in there. My food took over an hour to come out then had mold on my bread and the food was cold like it had been sitting out. The service was probably the worst i had ever received. our waitress was an older lady with grey hair had an rude tone with any question we had about the menu we also over heard her complaining to her coworker that we didn't tip enough. will never be going there again. read more

Darling back dog friendly patio. Everyone else's food looked great, unfortunately ours was not. It was downright horrible but only deducting 2 stars because I should have known better & ordered a sandwich or burger. This is NOT a salad place. The BBQ'd Chicken Salad was a glob of unappealing chicken cubes drenched in gloppy BBQ sauce with warm end of an old head of warm lettuce with some canned corn & beans thrown in for good measure - the worst I've ever had. Would have sent it back but did not see our waitress for another 45 minutes. The pizza was not great either. Oh well, still loved the outside seating area! read more

Came here because the high schooler in our party needed internet to do homework and decided to make dinner out of the visit. The food was great and the staff is wonderful. We ate ourselves full (on ribs, salad, and beef dip, calamari, etc) and then still dived into the dessert. We originally sat outside (it had great ambiance), but had to move inside for better internet. My advice, try the pie it's really good. We had the strawberry rhubarb with ice cream. It's awesome! We will probably do another trip for homework and dessert.... or maybe just dessert. read more

The food and service were excellent. Ate here a few times when camping. Everything we tried was awesome. Was not disappointed at all. The first night we got there 10-15 minutes before closing, the staff had no issues staying late and making us dinner and they were very friendly. I was actually expecting them to tell us it was too late but that never happened. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

After a long drive from Shady Cove. Stopping along the way. We ended up here for dinner. It was busy. But they got us in and took great care of us. We met the owners and they where both extremely nice. Had a all meat pizza. It was great. The beer was cold and local IPA's. Will be going back for breakfast. Held our family reunion dinner on the patio. It was fabulous! The staff was great to work with during planning and event itself. Our menu was house-smoked baby back ribs, grilled salmon, caprese pasta, rice pilaf, fresh vegis, salad. Food was delicious and plentiful! Pretty disappointing tonight . We're passing through on an RV trip and it happened to be one of our kids birthdays. We decided to do a birthday dinner at Takoda's. The place is very cool looking and decorated with awesome local art for sale. The waitress was pleasant but was absent most of the time. The food took a while. We didn't mind because we were a party of 9 and they had other customers. After a long wait, they brought out most meals except for our birthday boy's dinner and our 3 year olds mac n cheese. We were told it would be a couple minutes. About 10 minutes later the birthday boy's meal arrived but no mac n cheese for the little guy. Again, we were told it would be a couple minutes. The waitress was again MIA. My dad got up and did his own refill because the last time she said she would be back to do it, she didn't return. He also got his own to go boxes. Everyone was done and still no mac n cheese. Eventually the mac n cheese was just put in a to go box. The waitress said there was a computer glitch and the mac n cheese was never actually ordered. That may have been but it was still at minimum a 30 minute wait for the mac n cheese after she realized it wasn't ordered. They did comp the mac n cheese and make another deduction to the bill. That was a nice gesture. I hope if we come through again in the future, we get a 5 star experience like the other reviews talk about. read more

We ordered the iced tea, salmon burger, and marionberry cobbler. I give this a solid 3 stars and my husband 2 stars, based purely on the food. I should preface that by noting that I prepare almost all of our meals from scratch with America's Test Kitchen and other recipes and make gourmet desserts all the time. Homemade bread, ice cream, pasta, etc. So we are foodies. We care very little about the setting or service, but are spoiled for good food (oh well). We entered the restaurant and were greeted in a few minutes then immediately seated. The inside of the restaurant is a gorgeous wooden building, though somewhat random in that they have styled it a la coffee shop with local art with a pink glitter feminine theme and other random art, instead of going with the beauty of the building and doing their own decorating. But I digress. We chose to sit outside, which was very beautiful and relaxing! Again the landscaping was just random plants from Home Depot that didn't maximize the huge potential of this space, but it was quite pleasant. It does get really dark out there after a certain hour, with very little lighting. I enjoyed the salmon burger with its Asian style coleslaw and mild wasabi sauce, but I think that a more advanced chef would have chosen a recipe where you can actually taste the fish, whose flavor was completely overpowered by the slaw. Yummy to me (not my husband, who had the same), but again it mostly was the taste of the slaw. The cobbler was IMO overly sweet but ok. The server was super friendly and the service was good. This may be the best place in town*, but I just wanted to write an honest review for other foodies like me... Go in with average expectations and you won't be disappointed. *A reviewer corrected me that this is not a "town." It is an "unincorporated community." Duly noted ;) read more

We attempted to eat at Takoda's on Sept, 6, 2011. One of us had the "Pretty Darn Good Rueban". Well it wasn't. The bread was burnt, the cheese and meat tasted old. Then when we complained about it the "Gentleman" got angry and was barking at one of the waitresses. She walked away angry. We will not go back to this place. Also in the so called General Store next door, the staff was very unfriendly. It was 6 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon and they did not have enough cooked chicken to even do an 8 piece meal and said they would not have anymore that night. With still 3 hours to go until closing on a holiday weekend. All in all that parking lot is one to stay out of when you are passing through. No service and bad or no food. read more

The first time in my life I have been refused service because I have a food allergy. I would never go back to a place that is too lazy to find out what is in their food. Scary, too. The place was less than half full, and the waiter said they were too busy to check. Disgusting. read more

The ribeye was funky tasting but everything else was okay. The clam chowder was the best tasting part of 2 meals.

Really felt like I got a good amount of tasty food for the price. The atmosphere was good, nothing really bad to say. If I were to pass by on 126 again, I would look forward to having dinner here again. read more

I had the pulled pork over fries ad it was awesome, more then I could eat! It was so good we went back the next night for dinner and had pizza and Turkey sandwich on Focacia bread, another great meal. We enjoyed sitting outside both nights. We went camping at Mona campground for the 1st time and we found Takoda's while exploring Blue River and Mckenzie. We ate there for breakfast and we were very impressed with the service, food was delicious, price was good, and the restaurant was clean and well maintain. They even have a nice Gift shop upstairs and they have a beautiful outdoor seating if you choose to eat outside. I ordered the "The Mckenzie" with a side of country gravy, my son had the Biscuit & gravy, and my husband also got "The Mckenzie" with gluten free French toast. My son had orange juice, my husband & I had coffee, and our total for 3 meal was $30. We tip well for a good restaurant, good food, and good service. We ate there again the next day and we will definitely be back again. read more
