The chicken pad Thai was good however I found a shrimp shell in my to go order. I'm really hoping this was pulled off and the shrimp was added to another dish and not bitten off and somehow ended up my food. Also this is so dangerous for people who have shell fish allergies! This place was EXCELLENT!!!! If you have not you MUST try it. I ordered a wonton soup and it was so flavorful, it needed no extra seasoning or sauces. I ate it as is without adding any additional condiments, hot sauce or soy sauce. I have never tried something so good. I also had the shrimp spring rolls they were so fresh and delicious . And we ordered the spicy fried rice and OMG it was delicious. Again no additional condiments were needed. I ordered from Talay last night for my birthday. I got the beef Panang curry, the Tom Kha Gai soup, tofu pad Thai and chicken satay. Everything was great except the pad Thai. It had no flavor to it at all. Just tasted like noodles with some oil and tofu. And the noodles seemed like they'd been sitting around for a while, and were all stuck together. Almost like I was reheating pad Thai the next day except this was supposed to be freshly made. The rest of the food was great, but the pad Thai definitely was disappointing. read more

We were visiting in the area with some friends in La Quinta. My wife and I decided to try to find a good Thai restaurant, and found Talay Thai. We ordered the yellow curry and red curry, both with chicken. After several tastes, we each agreed: this is the best Thai we have ever had! The curry was so very tasty and rich, and the portions were sizable enough to take home for lunch the next day. We had a nice conversation with the owner, and she was very lovely and gracious, and so complentary towards her staff. If we lived here full time, we would definitely make it a habit to come here for dinner. read more

A welcome and impressive addition to the Palm Desert takeout scene, especially in the otherwise shaky Thai category, and so good that I've ordered two weeks in a row. Crab Rangoon and the fried dumplings are tasty versions of the classic appetizers, and the curries are all delicious. There's a slight up-charge to add vegetables to the dish, but the variety and quality of what you get is worth it. One downside: Noodle dishes are inconsistent. Also, we are spice heads and can take the heat, but by spice level 3, even we are blown out here. Highly, highly recommend for quality Thai food. Visited the restaurant with a friend after the gym not expecting too much from this restaurant. After being welcomed by staff and attended to by a super nice waitress (sorry didn't catch the name). The chicken Satay was cooked to perfection and the peanut sauce was rich and thick. Entree was also pleasantly good as I really enjoy Chix Pad Thai. The ambiance is laid back and the staff seem to know the locals which is always a good sign. I would recommend this restaurant to any Thai Fan! read more

He did not offer to put spice on the side on my first order . 2) when he took my dish back to make it less spicy , he told me owner refused to make it less spicy or make a fresh one since I couldn't eat it so he brought same dish back saying owner says you need to order another one at cost . So my friend and I decided to order another one so he wouldn't be eating alone . Then is when server asked if I wanted spice on the side and I said to him no spice on side or dish . Direct slap in the face to a long-term repeat customer. Over the past number of years, I've eaten at Talay Thai probably 30 times between their Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert locations. I have introduced many friends to their restaurant. I have ordered through GrubHub dozens of times. Tonight, I mistakenly forgot to ask them to keep egg out of my fried rice. When I told them I made a mistake, cannot eat egg, and asked if they could remake my dish, after checking with the kitchen, the restaurant flatly refused. No offer to remake a dish at a discounted price, no negotiations, just a flat no and double the cost ($40) if I wanted to eat fried rice with no meat and vegetables. This was such a short-sided decision. They have forever lost a repeat customer who has spent a thousand or more dollars at the establishment. At the same time, they have gained an spokesperson who will eagerly tell everyone exactly how they treat their long-term repeat customers. RIP Talay Thai!! read more

Wow! I really hoped that this place was going to be awesome. I love Thai food and it's close to home. I used to eat at the Thai restaurant that was in this spot prior. This was hands down the worst service I've had in quite awhile. We were treated terribly and the server was unbelievably rude. My mother ordered directly from the menu. When the meal came it was not what was on the menu. It was entirely a different dish. When I inquired and asked the server, I was told that we were supposed to order it differently. What? Why wouldn't I order directly from the menu and receive exactly what was on the menu. We ended up walking out without a single bite of our meal, so I can't say how the food tasted. I also went a little Karen when he told me that " Not my mistake, not my problem ". It was a very disappointing experience. *** that is an absolute lie. The servers communication was extremely unprofessional. It's really too bad you can't be accountable for what your video shows. I got two sips of my tea and left them both on the table 80% full. As a new business you should correct mistakes and behavior. You get one 1st impression. Additionally, your menu clearly states what is in the dish I ordered. That is what I wanted. Okay, the Panang curry was pretty good. That's about it. For 13.99 I ordered the egg rolls..... it's literally 2 eggrolls cut up in small pieces. You aren't fooling Anyone. Either up your portion or lower the cost. That was honestly ridiculous. Here was the most disappointing part... the pad Thai... the noodles stuck together and the sauce tasted so sweet.... Way too sweet. I LOVE pad Thai, this was so bad though. We are locals but I don't think we will be back. Oh, also 3.00 for an extra small cup of rice for my curry.
