Tally's is the quintessential classic Tulsa diner full of classic diner foods ranging from breakfast to chicken fried steak. I've always enjoyed the food at Tally's no matter what I get, but they have a delicious giant cinnamon roll. It has more of a buttery, glazed icing and, for the price, is quite large. I'm of the firm opinion that 'diner food' varies by very small margins no matter where you go for it. A scrambled or fried egg can only get just so bougie, same for bacon, pancakes, etc. What makes a diner stand out from the rest? In my experience it's ingredients sourced from suppliers that are outside the mainstream, and excellent service. This isn't Tally's. Tally's is a celebration of the mediocre. Once, years ago, I ordered a breakfast burrito and I got a white log on a plate that sat under a heat lamp too long. There was no sauce on it or anything on the side, just a slightly stale tortilla wrapped around some filling. Meh... I went again this morning hoping for a better experience. I ordered the corned beef hash since it's not a typical diner breakfast. Though there were only a few tables occupied it took 20+ minutes to get my food, and though it had a decent enough taste there was a chalkiness to it that put me off. I also opted for a biscuit rather than the pancake that appears on the menu, and it had a sourness to it that I just couldn't figure out. The biscuit and gravy were cold too. The staff seem to be disinterested unless you're a regular. The toaster caught fire and required three fourths of the staff to deal with it. Also, while I waited they brought out a plate of food that was apparently today's lunch special, and the entire staff stood around it taking pictures with their phones while I watched from my booth. Even the cooks came out! They totally ignored everyone in the dining room. This went on for 10+ minutes. However, on the positive side, I see loads of people eating at Tally's every day! It's very popular! They also serve meals to service members and others at the Holidays, so credit where credit is due. I'm happy they support the community. Good on them for that! I wish more restaurants did the same. For that they get a second star. read more

As soon as we pulled into town, we headed straight to Talley's as soon as we pulled up and saw the sign we knew we had found a good spot the chicken fried steak and breakfast steak were incredible it was super cheap and huge portion sizes. The customer service was amazing. Everybody was so nice. In the interior was so nice. It looked like it was stuck in the 1970s with all the cool posters highly recommend. read more

I was craving a chicken fried steak for a couple of days and came to try theirs. The food was a good portion, the steak itself was pretty good. I must admit it was slightly under seasoned but salt is on the table. I had a single pancake with ice cream for dessert which came out looking as amazing as it tasted. The service was great, our server was very nice and energetic. The a restaurant itself looks great, clean and takes you into a different era for sure. Mashed potatoes were really good, had a better texture than most runny potatoes. These are a bit more solid, which I just learned I prefer them this way. Overall a really nice experience. read more

We were greeted and seated very quickly on a Sunday morning at 11:00. We had our drinks fast. I don't know if you've been following me about this sweet tea thing but, my goodness this is some good sweet tea! Fresh brewed good and sweet but not too sweet. Our server was awesome. We told her it was our first time and she really gave us a good rundown of a really big menu. Who is split the pork chops and eggs and added two eggs. The pork chops were tiny. I didn't know you could get them that small. They were all right. My husband's eggs were over easy not medium. She offered to fix them but we declined cuz we were pretty much done by that time. The hash browns were not individually made they were pulled out of a pile on the grill if I had to guess. They were crispy but not my preferred sort of hash brown. Crispy on the outside soft on the inside folded over and made each individual order is my preferred. The gravy was your typical restaurant gravy. Not a lot of flavor. We ended up with the famous cinnamon roll. I had said we might order it for dessert and it ended up coming for dessert. It's as big as a dinner plate. Which means there was not enough cinnamon to bread ratio for me. I had about three bites. My husband had two and we gave it to the table next to us. Service was 10/10 they were so attentive! The place was a little dirty though, like a black piece in my drink, dirty table, etc. but the avocado toast was good. We knew that Tally's is a 50s style diner so no surprises except for the presence of a falafel wrap on the menu. Despite, the lure of falafel, I had a Reuben sandwich with fries. It was tasty but different from Reubens I've had. The pastrami was chopped and mixed with the sauerkraut. Thankfully, it was less quantity and more quality. Still I prefer the pastrami sliced and layered with the other ingredients. The fries were pretty good. Fresh but not so hot that they burn your tongue when you bite into one. I had 1/2 & 1/2 sweet/unsweet tea and it was perfect! Not too sweet. My husband had the Fat Boy burger and fries. He said it was very good. It's a fairly large (ergo the name Fat Boy?) burger. He was too full to eat his fries. One downside is they serve Pepsi products and he is a Coca Cola lover as am I but I don't drink sodas very often. Our server, Corinna, was delightful! We talked with her as often as her work allowed. We had not been to Tally's in several years, but we were nearby and thought we'd treat ourselves to comfort food. read more

Tally's is a delicious place to eat. Literally the whole menu is available at all times. This is really nice because my husband works nights and wants dinner and I want breakfast. I ordered the grilled cheese on Texas toast, because that sounded healthy. I added the tomato to it (the pickles were a bonus) and to make sure it was super healthy, I chose cole slaw as my side. Everything was delicious. I could not have been happier with my choices. I was with two friends and one had chicken and the other had something else, but I don't remember now. They both enjoyed their meals as well. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive and the prices were good. All-in-all, it was a really great experience and a very pleasant time was had by all. My bride decided we could stop at an antique mall as we were entering Tulsa, OK. We found Tallys Mall on Route 66, which was nice, but as I've found has nothing I like, sports cards and that's it But, the prices for those are higher than eBay So, attached to the mall is the Tally cafe. A classic 1950s dinner on route 66. The diner is indeed classic with two counters for dinning and lots of red vinyl booths and chairs at tables. They have a very large menu menu, with all the classic choices, plus daily specials. I wasn't terribly hungry and ordered their chili and beans bowl. It came with cheddar cheese, onions and fresh chopped tomatoes. It was so good, I'd forgot to take a picture to post. My bride ordered the Chili Frito plate. Which was good, too. We ordered mushrooms first which are the best mushrooms ever!!! Thats where the good ended, my husband ordered a burger and I ordered the chicken parmesan. We saw my husbands burger sit in the window for over 10 minutes and it was dried out and cold. My food was just hot but that was the only good thing about it. My family and I stopped in for a late lunch on Friday. We were a bit hesitant at first only because finding an American style cafe with great food is sadly turning into a rare find. Today we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Tally's on south Yale ave. still has a hold on vintage American and is able to produce something that American needs to find its way back to. The staff at Tally's were friendly and attentive. The restaurant looked as though it just had finished its lunch rush and the staff were still trying to get things cleaned up while also keeping the current customers taken care of. Our table alone had 11 people at it and the wait staff were working hard to keep the restaurant flowing and the customers taken care of. Our food came out in good time and the quality was spot on. Which tells me that the cooks in the back of the house not only know what they're doing, but actually care about the product they're producing. This combined with the good wait staff is what keeps people coming back for more. My family and I will most certainly be back. read more

This place is a historic treasure, and just like stepping into a T I M E M A C H I N E or time warp going back to the 50s-60s. Very cool posters of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, 50s diners, and other emblems of that era adorn the walls. The chicken fried steak (I believe their signature dish) was excellent and I got the okra as a side. The lemon meringue pie was delish, and the substance they used to create the meringue is fascinating. Also the ice cream is not bad. This was by far the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. They took about 20 minutes just to get our order. Before we got our food there was a disgusting burnt smell from the kitchen. Once the food arrived the avocado that was on the food was old and there were two hairs in my dish. The other dish that we were served was cold. The silverware we were given still had food on it and was clearly not washed from its last use. It then took another 20 minutes after eating for us to get our check and pay. When we finally paid, they charged us twice. I cannot think of a place where I've had an overall experience this bad. read more

She was leading us to the back but we requested a table in the front so we can keep an eye on our company truck so apparently that made her mad and so when she brought my tea she actually SLAMMED it down in front of me where it actually spilled on me!! No apologies what so ever!! She shouldn't be in costumer service if she takes a simple request as an offense!! The other lady was nice but she made a joke about her co workers delivery of my drink and laughed it off. I will pass on EVER going there again!! I actually had to run to the bathroom and throw up after I ate some of the food, and of course the toilet handle was broke so I wasn't able to flush. We stopped in after our flight in to Tulsa. We were all hungry and Tally's was the first place we saw. It's a cute old restaurant kinda has an "old" smell to it. Not stinky just....old. Food was okay and service was fine. Not really a lot to say. I wouldn't go back. We ordered the 2+2+2 the 3+3+3 and the Denver omelet. My BF said gravy was gross and son said bacon was chewy. My food (2+2+2) was fine. It fit our need at the time, It wasn't horrible but I would recommend it to anyone I knew. My recommendation to restaurant, have friendlier greeters. Our waitress was nice. Clean up/update a little bit, bathroom was dated, restaurant just seemed like it needed a little TLC. read more

Simply outstanding food and service. We went on a Saturday mid morning and were seated immediately. The waitstaff were so helpful and personable and our drink order arrived almost instantly. We came in to have a late dinner last night. After being seated and asking for a server to get an appetizer started, we waited about ten minutes before a server came out with a male employee from the back. She proceeded to sit at the bar counter next to our booth chatting with the man, rather than greeting our table. After several more minutes we got up to leave, as no one had come to the table. The lady who was chatting at the bar asked "what's wrong?" (Maybe she was her server. I informed her we'd been waiting around 15 minutes and had not been greeted, and were heading out. Driving along Route 66 and we spotted Tally's so de decided to have our brunch. We were greeted as soon as we entered and were seated right away. I ordered the Roast Beef with a side of corn and green beans and Chris ordered the Smart Bomb with an extra egg. Our server, Tiffany, was cheerful. She always had a smile on her face. She even brought us an extra plate, in case Chris and I will be sharing our food (which we always do!). The Roast Beef was very tender and flavorful and it paired well with the pillow-soft fresh dinner roll, buttery corn and perfectly cooked green beans. It seems Atalya Alame is still criminal, only this time he stole an opinion from a loyal customer. I have photos to prove it. I've been ordering from them on & off over years. I'm a 75 yr old paraplegic, bedridden, and I can only afford one meal a day. 12/21/25, today, I ordered the usually delicious cinnamon roll. I received a bag and contacted covered in melted frosting that also got all over my hands, delivery box and comforter. It was because the icing hadn't been allowed to set up enough for it to be firm so that wouldn't happen. The co. I order from had already given me a full refund but I thought it would help Tally's from it happening in the future. He wouldn't even listen to me and kept blaming the driver for it making such a huge mess. He actually said "No, I'm not going to listen to you" so shocked, I hung up and in future I won't be ordering from them. It actually harms us both; me from getting other items from there that I like and him from getting my money and if he has to steal things from places like Sam's I don't think he can afford to lose a good paying customer. His time in jail and pretending he didn't know about the self-pay registers at Sam's should've taught him a listen. Apparently not. read more

This was our first visit to Tally's in July and noticed the restaurant previously driving the old Route 66. We were taking our grandson to the airport and he wanted to try a chicken fried steak. We were greeted immediately upon entering and seated promptly. When looking around, you get the old time diner feel of a bygone era with a modern day mix. The waitress was helpful and friendly. We ordered the chicken fried steak, liver and onions, and Ruben sandwich. Whoever works in the kitchen has the love of making food within their heart. Very disappointed with overall experience. Monte Cristo sandwich my husband ate was good but it was served with strawberries in strawberry juice with large bits of strawberry so very hard to dip properly. But, who serves a Monte Cristo with strawberry chunks instead of raspberry jam? We asked our waitress if there was raspberry jam and she just looked at us like we were crazy and in a dismissive tone said that all they had were the little jelly/jam packets sitting on the table. Her tone and attitude were totally unwarranted. My husband ended up mashing up strawberry jam and trying to use it. Cheeseburger I ordered was ok but certainly nothing special. I have had better from fast food joints. Fries were good. There was plenty of wait staff but service was minimal and came with an attitude from our main waitress. Bathrooms were awful. Sticky floors and stall walls and doors looked like they had never been cleaned. Everything was sticky! Ugh. 2 stars due to the food being edible. Total experience was a bust. read more

We were passing through Oklahoma and thought a diner on Historic Route 66 would be the perfect place to have dinner! The location was convenient, parking good, people were amazingly friendly, and the theme was spot on. Then we went further back to our table- the smell was not horrible but is wasn't pleasant- the server stations were part of the the dining room and the beverage stations and refrigerators were open to the dining area but not really a good look for patrons. The food was hit and miss- there were 5 of us- 2 had great meals, 2 didn't eat much of theirs because they weren't great (not bad just not good enough to finish or take away), and 1 like their sides (sweet potato fries were amazing because we shared them) but not their entree. Would we go back? Maybe- but we would request to eat in the dining room that you enter the restaurant through (with the dining counter) and we'd stick with diner food like patty melts or chicken tenders. read more

She was very friendly and took good care of us. I ordered an appetizer of fried onion rings and they tasted great. For the main course I ordered their world famous chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and brown beans. It also comes with a side of gravy and a homemade roll. I enjoyed every bite of these delicious items. I was stuffed! Huge portions of everything. The restaurant is a great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The bathroom was very clean, and the entire restaurant was well maintained. There is also plenty of parking behind the building. Tally's is a "return if in the area restaurant". We usually go early for breakfast but this time enjoyed lunch there. Portion sizes were large, food was hot and as ordered. Pricing was reasonable. Waitress was on the ball keeping our party of five satisfied. If in the area, this iconic restaurant is a must visit! read more
