Chilaquiles verde
Sunny W.

The café de olla coffee was good, the location is a small hole in the wall with only outside seating. I'm a picky chilaquiles critic, so I'm sure most people would be delighted, but I felt the white raw onion overpowered the flavor. The meat was okay, what I call cheap meat, with an off texture and flavor. The salad verde was delicious, and the rice was okay it was very soft and mushy like bean consistency. There were too many raw pieces of white onion that also threw off the flavor. Overall, it was a good average plate of chilaquiles, hence the 3 stars. The location was clean, but there was no menu when I arrived, so I just ordered what I wanted without knowing what was available.

Trash

The worst ever!!! Jalapeño and cheese tamale with fake cheese or cheese sauce it's disgusting The nerves to sale this trash u can find better in a parking lot or street corner!! And for $4 yuck!!!

Their beef tamales are hot and delicious. I prefer their beef over their pork tamales. Their chips and salsas tasted like it was made fresh.

Honestly, I was skeptical about the place because of the prices and the lack of good pictures but decided to take one for the team and try them out. I didn't think anything could justify the price of the tamales but honestly they are larger than most and hefty. I would say it's about 1.5 times the size of a regular tamal. I got the green chicken and red pork and they were both really great ! I also had the asada sope, while I'm not sure if the sope was made in house or not the flavors were still great. Also i can't forget about their guacamole , it was delicious ! Definitely recommend people try it out !

Living in the IE for over 15 years, it's hard to find a good authentic place. This place is actually under new management and they have a variety of Mexican dishes. Everybody is very polite super friendly. The food is really good and I am picky about food they actually have something going on Friday through Sunday. They have a buffet now where you get to try a little bit of everything. The ambience is great. The buffet consist of many Guisados and posole also seafood and homemade taco station.

As of now 1 star due to inaccurate business. Establishment was closed upon arrival. There hours online and on their door states a 6 pm closure arrived just under 15 minutes before closing and they were already shut down.

There are no seating tables inside so it is more of an order to go spot. Once I walked in, I was quickly greeted with the staff the tamale menu is posted up front and the staff told me they also do tacos and burritos. This was not posted on the menu so not sure if it was just for the day or part of the standard menu. I ordered a mix of chicken, pork, and cheese tamales. Pork and cheese were my favorite. They come out straight from the steamer so it is nice and hot when you receive them. Tamales had a good balance of masa and good amount of meat/cheese which was definitely a plus. The chicken was a tad bit dry, but the pork and cheese were moist and delicious. Will definitely be back for those two flavors and interested in trying the strawberry and pineapple.

Bread had mold on it

The bread had mold on it I noticed after already taking a couple of bites. I am so disappointed

Pricy Tamales but the tamale size is fairly large, and the beef had a good portion of meat as well as flavor.

$48.00 for 4 tamales & 2 sides of rice 2 sides of beans. Also took them 20 minutes to put tamales in a bag. Will not return.

Our waiter was good at first, but after asking if they had a sauce that was more spicy... he said that there would be a extra charge. Soooo... I asked when they started charging extra... when several months ago it was free. Explanation was satisfactory. I ordered taquitos with extra sour cream that came with beans n rice. So when it arrived the rice was cool... the beans were barely warm. If you notice in my photo... there is no sour cream on my taquitos. The taquitos were warm at best. Some parts of the taquitos were hard and and some of the meat was cooked ok. There was several times that the waiter was MIA. He kept the drinks up pretty good until my question about the salsa. So I had to ask the busboy for refill on salsa. Less than a minute later my salsa was at my table. Unlike the five minutes wait for my sour cream. And when the bill came... our waiter went MIA again for 10 minutes. A very nice lady came by and took care of it. For the hostess at the door... I would have given five stars for you. But today we had a very disappointing adventure

This place was packed and for our table of 6, we had to wait about 45 minutes. Pro tip (call ahead, you'll be happy you did). But we walked around the cute town and came back with a table waiting for us. To start, I had to try the iconic salad. My mom and her friends raved about how yummy the salad was and I have a sneaking suspicion why. That bad boy is packed to the brim with so much cheese. But yes it was totally yummy. My favorite part is they bring you a whole squirt bottle of vinaigrette dressing. Yes please! I totally understand the hype. The rest of our meal was ok. We got the fajitas which were seasoned great and the tortilla soup was nice. Drinks were totally great! I got the jalapeno margarita and white peach sangria (which had a little fizz - totally appreciated) Pleased with our visit to Espiau's! But even happier I got to see mom and her friends enjoy themselves at this historical spot.

Hostess was sweet and helpful with a large party (12) Server was passive aggressive and just not the kindest gal. When our food came out, it just wasn't good. My chile relleno tasted almost burnt, the sauce it came with was basically just the salsa they serve with chips. Beans tasted SO off and like they are canned. I honestly didn't even try the rice it looked really dry. Tortilla soup was flavorless. I've given this place a chance many times and each time i leave more disappointed than the last. :/
