I was craving taquitos for some reason, so I came by here to try them out. I was asked what flavor I wanted, and then I asked which one tasted the best. He asked me if I wanted all three flavors and of course I agreed! The least favorite of the bunch was the chicken. The potato was really good and the softness of the potato balanced extremely well with the crunchiness of the taquito. Then the beef was the star of the show with the perfect flavor that paired extremely well with the crunchiness of the taquito. The lettuce, guacamole and sour cream is always a necessity with taquitos. As far as the hot sauces go, I normally go for a green sauce, but this place's red sauce was really solid, even if it makes you sweat a bit. The horchata here is pretty good too. I don't know how to tell the difference between rice or beans, so I would say that they're good here too, but I don't know how to judge these items that well. The service is pretty good. The ambiance is chill and cozy. Good place to get some taquitos for sure. read more

I ordered the chicken mole plate, which came with black mole, rice, beans, and plantains. Unfortunately, it didn't arrive in the best condition and looked like it had been shaken around a bit during delivery, so the presentation was pretty messy. That said, the mole itself was good. It had the complexity and subtle sweetness I was looking for. I do think it could have been a little richer and more flavorful, but overall I still enjoyed it. The rice and beans, on the other hand, were fairly bland by comparison. I also tried the al pastor tacos. They were decent, with tender meat that wasn't overly fatty, but pretty simple overall, mostly just meat and onions without anything particularly memorable. read more

*I ordered the chilaquiles verdes with chicken, arroz con leche, and the orange juice through Postmates! CHILAQUILES 5/10: These are some ok Mexican chilaquiles. The tortilla has a nice bite to it, the salsa is good, and there is a very generous amount of chicken! The one downside is that I found a lot of oil in the dish and was unable to finish the rest of the chicken because it was covered in it. I only say this as some people's stomachs are more sensitive to oil (like mine). ARROZ CON LECHE 3/10: I docked down the points on this one due to flavor, texture, and also the product itself. I assumed that the arroz con leche would have been made in house but it was unfortunately a store bought Juan J's arroz con leche. As for the rice pudding itself, it's what you would expect from a store bought arroz con leche. It has a subtle gummy texture, slight aftertaste, but a good sweetness. It isn't terrible but it also isn't necessarily good. ORANGE JUICE --/10: I won't put a rating on this one as I am not entirely sure if it is freshly squeezed or not. The description on Postmates said it was fresh squeezed but I found that there was no pulp (not even some slight fiber texture from the oranges) and it did not separate-- freshly squeezed orange juice typically does after some time. The price was roughly 4 dollars which isn't bad at all but just wish that it was not advertised as freshly squeezed. I typically only buy orange juice from restaurants if it's natural and if it isn't, I don't buy it (preference). PACKAGING 6/10: There was a postmates plastic sticker placed over my drink to ensure that it wasn't tampered with, which is great! Unfortunately, their to go containers are prone to leaking so when I got my food the beans had seeped out a bit and it got messy. read more

We wanted to eat pozole (my first time) and decided to try out this local spot near us. We also ordered the empanadas (Birria, Chicken, and potatoes w/ chorizo). We dined in everything came out quickly and food was amazing. Pozole was flavorful (I won't do it justice by trying to describe it) but I definitely will be ordering it again! Was craving chilaquiles and authentic Mexican food. There was authentic p and original flavor in everything I tried here! The lady we placed our order with was so kind, attentive, and patient as we asked for recommendations and even samples as we couldn't decide which salsa we want for our chilaquiles. There seems to be a lot of variety in their menu, I would love to come back and try something new! I got the green chilaquiles which weren't spicy but very delicious and packed with flavor. They also had chile macha available for the tables so I added that extra spice of course. We also got the chorizo breakfast burrito which was big, tasty, and bomb!! We split both of these meals between two people and I left stuffed! Barely even had any of the burrito. This spot is small and feels very homey. Great Mexican food if you're in this area. I would always drive past this place and not give it much attention since it gives a hole in a wall vibes. But to my surprise, it offers some good Mexican food in the area. The carne asada burrito was delicious but what sold me was the tortilla chips. If you are craving some good authentic Mexican food, you have to give this place a try. I had the chilaquiles with green sauce and birria, and my husband had the carne asada burrito. I also got a side of chips and guacamole and loved that the chips were homemade and warm. They were probably the best tortilla chips I have ever had. The staff were super friendly and helped me decide what to get. The space is a little small but has a good amount of seating. This place is a gem and deserves all the great ratings it's already received. It's a simple cafe with counter service and food brought to your table. Everything is delicious, homemade, and authentic to Veracruz. The tamales are especially good. The owner/chef is really nice and pointed out takeaway items like pozole, mole, salsa, chips, guacamole, and homemade drinks like horchata, tamarindo, jamaica, etc. It's not fancy, but it sure is delicious and reasonably priced. This is some of the best Mexican food I've had in a while! I ordered takeout and got a bit of everything: two crunchy chicken tacos, chicken enchiladas in green sauce, and a churro. Everything was absolutely delicious and still tasted fresh even after a ~15 minute drive. It was ready pretty quickly, too. I saw nothing but good reviews which, honestly, I'm usually a little skeptical of--but this place is definitely worth it. I got them on Uber eats cause they had buy 1 get 1 free for the green chilaquiles birria but that was more like buy ONE. These were like 2 half portions at BEST. We ordered jalapeño and cheese empanadas, chicken empanada combo, shrimp taco combo and guacamole. -Their empanadas are shockingly good, especially the jalapeno and cheese. The dough has just a touch of sweetness that contrasts nicely with the filling. Satisfying crunch but not at all dry and covered in a good amount of queso fresco. -shrimp tacos were cooked perfectly. Tasted very good but I might try something different next time. -guacamole was some of the best we've had in ages. And they actually filled the container so that 8oz meant 8oz, unlike so many other places. -the puréed salsas weren't my favorite but the pico de gallo was fresh and made with really ripe tomatoes. We were craving comfort food so we ordered a chorizo burrito, mole tamal plate, fried plantains, passionfruit juice, sweet corn tamal, a few sides of salsas and chocoflan. Everything was delicious. I saved the sweet corn tamal and fried plantains for the next day and they were so good as leftovers. I'm so happy we finally tried this place. I love the variety of food, especially the tropical ingredients that you don't always find at Mexican restaurants. The basics, like the rice, refried beans and salsas, were so flavorful and familiar. Right on the corner of Melrose and an easy walk from work for me, this dinette serves fresh tender tamales, empanadas, and enchiladas with amazing sauces. The friendly counter staff patiently answered questions about the menu. We got our drinks of horchata and hibiscus agua fresca and grabbed an empty tabletop. Excellent Quality and Taste! Our company does breakfast Wednesday every 2 weeks and we had some tacos and burritos from VMF for todays lunch and the employee feedback was stellar. The Asada Soft Tacos were the star of the show, but the burritos are a very generous portion and the flavors were really good and the various flavor layers were easy to taste individually, which most burritos is just a tube of squished together ingredients.
