    ARROZ CON LECHE
    Sofis K.

*I ordered the chilaquiles verdes with chicken, arroz con leche, and the orange juice through Postmates! CHILAQUILES 5/10: These are some ok Mexican chilaquiles. The tortilla has a nice bite to it, the salsa is good, and there is a very generous amount of chicken! The one downside is that I found a lot of oil in the dish and was unable to finish the rest of the chicken because it was covered in it. I only say this as some people's stomachs are more sensitive to oil (like mine). ARROZ CON LECHE 3/10: I docked down the points on this one due to flavor, texture, and also the product itself. I assumed that the arroz con leche would have been made in house but it was unfortunately a store bought Juan J's arroz con leche. As for the rice pudding itself, it's what you would expect from a store bought arroz con leche. It has a subtle gummy texture, slight aftertaste, but a good sweetness. It isn't terrible but it also isn't necessarily good. ORANGE JUICE --/10: I won't put a rating on this one as I am not entirely sure if it is freshly squeezed or not. The description on Postmates said it was fresh squeezed but I found that there was no pulp (not even some slight fiber texture from the oranges) and it did not separate-- freshly squeezed orange juice typically does after some time. The price was roughly 4 dollars which isn't bad at all but just wish that it was not advertised as freshly squeezed. I typically only buy orange juice from restaurants if it's natural and if it isn't, I don't buy it (preference). PACKAGING 6/10: There was a postmates plastic sticker placed over my drink to ensure that it wasn't tampered with, which is great! Unfortunately, their to go containers are prone to leaking so when I got my food the beans had seeped out a bit and it got messy.

We wanted to eat pozole (my first time) and decided to try out this local spot near us. We also ordered the empanadas (Birria, Chicken, and potatoes w/ chorizo). We dined in everything came out quickly and food was amazing. Pozole was flavorful (I won't do it justice by trying to describe it) but I definitely will be ordering it again! Empanadas also crisp and cooked to perfection. Excited to try other things on the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself clean and staff very kind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Was craving chilaquiles and authentic Mexican food. There was authentic p and original flavor in everything I tried here! The lady we placed our order with was so kind, attentive, and patient as we asked for recommendations and even samples as we couldn't decide which salsa we want for our chilaquiles. There seems to be a lot of variety in their menu, I would love to come back and try something new! I got the green chilaquiles which weren't spicy but very delicious and packed with flavor. They also had chile macha available for the tables so I added that extra spice of course. We also got the chorizo breakfast burrito which was big, tasty, and bomb!! We split both of these meals between two people and I left stuffed! Barely even had any of the burrito. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot is small and feels very homey. It's not too loud but it's a comforting ambiance of music and life.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Tamales! Mole, jalapeño & cheese, green sauce
    Susie D.

Dame los tamales! Craving tamales, came here, and they delivered, literally and figuratively. Got one of each and all three were fantastic. My personal order of preference - green sauce, jalapeño & cheese, mole - but can't go wrong with any. The homemade chips n salsa were banging, and I mean it when I say it was one of THE BEST horchatas I've ever had. The guy running it was so nice, too. I need to book a trip to Veracruz if they make food like that!

Tamales Veracruz MRV may be on the smaller side, but the food delivers big, authentic Mexican flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is simple and cozy, and the service was friendly and efficient--our food came out in about 10-15 minutes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the enchiladas with salsa verde, which were packed with flavor and came with rice, beans, and a drink. My total was around $19, which felt reasonable given that most menu items range from about $10-$30 per person. Everything tasted fresh and genuinely homemade. I'll definitely be back to try their tacos. Overall, I give Tamales Veracruz MRV a 4.5 out of 5.

Great Mexican food if you're in this area. I would always drive past this place and not give it much attention since it gives a hole in a wall vibes. But to my surprise, it offers some good Mexican food in the area. The carne asada burrito was delicious but what sold me was the tortilla chips. They are well seasoned and the salsas that it comes with takes it to the next level. All of it combined gave a great dining experience. I will definitely come back for more. The service was wonderful since it was just us in the restaurant.

If you are craving some good authentic Mexican food, you have to give this place a try. I had the chilaquiles with green sauce and birria, and my husband had the carne asada burrito. I also got a side of chips and guacamole and loved that the chips were homemade and warm. They were probably the best tortilla chips I have ever had. The staff were super friendly and helped me decide what to get. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is a little small but has a good amount of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking may be a little tough as it is limited to street parking but luckily we didn't struggle to find a spot. Overall highly recommend this place.

Green Chicken Enchilada plate. Fresca juice. All hella good.

Yup. Writing this review while I'm still eating, cause y'all playing. This food hella good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]First off, it's cute and clean customer service is GREAT and plenty of on-street parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just please read the signs cause the commute hours make parking tricky. [[HIGHLIGHT]]6 tables inside, a few curbside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's a little market too, can buy fresh fruit, drinks, and sweets. This about to be a regular spot Will update at I return and try more items. But if ya enchiladas are banging, then everything else gonna be fire. THE FOOD Chicken Enchiladas w/green sauce: look! Stuffed with tender shredded chicken stewed with tomatoes, rolled in fresh tortillas topped with broiled cheese and sour cream. 2 enchiladas plate came with rice and beans. THE SAUCES I don't know if I like the chili oil or hot sauce better but hot damnit, the both were delicious with a nice medium-hot heat. FRESCA Mix of mango, watermelon, pineapple, something else I dunno it was sooooo good!

This is some of the best Mexican food I've had in a while! I ordered takeout and got a bit of everything: two crunchy chicken tacos, chicken enchiladas in green sauce, and a churro. Everything was absolutely delicious and still tasted fresh even after a ~15 minute drive. It was ready pretty quickly, too. I saw nothing but good reviews which, honestly, I'm usually a little skeptical of--but this place is definitely worth it. I was really happy with everything I ordered and I feel like that's pretty rare. I will absolutely be ordering again the next time I'm craving Mexican food.

Quick spot to get Mexican food, I was staying across the street at the Hollywood Historic Hotel and was looking for a quick spot for lunch. Pretty good food, the salsa's were delicious too along with their drinks like the agua frescas.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a cute and small Mexican restaurant on Melrose Ave.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's intimate, has great Spanish music, vegetarian/vegan options, and delicious Mexican food and drinks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The gentleman at the cash register hooked it up with a nice sample of their Macha Salsa and it was soooo good. I want to update my review about the location of Zinc that I wrote over a decade ago. Since my…read moreinitial review, I've continued to come to this restaurant. It remains a unique addition to the neighborhood, as well as a good place to grab some interesting dishes. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. Meaning, if you're looking for an interesting place to eat, with some good dishes, at the far Southeast side of DTLA, near the lofts district, and you want a place without a long wait to get a table and/or your food, this may still be your place to go.

This was, without a doubt, the worst experience I've ever had at Zinc. I've been coming here on and…read moreoff for the past four years and have never experienced customer service this bad. We started with coffee. My boyfriend ordered a mocha, and I ordered a salted caramel latte. His drink was fine, but mine had absolutely no flavoring. As a former barista, I could immediately tell it was just a plain iced latte. I politely asked the waitress if they had forgotten the syrup, and she insisted, "There is syrup in it, but I can ask them to add more." I knew there wasn't any syrup, but I didn't want to argue, so I said, "Sure, please add more." A few minutes later, the manager came over and told me they actually didn't have salted caramel. So I asked if I could just get a regular caramel latte instead. She then told me they couldn't make that either because they were out of caramel sauce, the very reason they couldn't make the salted caramel in the first place. So why hand me a plain iced latte and tell me it had syrup when you knew you didn't even have the ingredients? Why not simply come back and let me know you were out and ask if I'd like something else? Instead, I was given a regular latte at the price of a flavored one (plus they later charged me for the syrup they never even added). For context, I had originally ordered a dirty chai, which they also couldn't make. So that's two drinks they didn't have, yet no one thought to communicate that before serving me something completely different. When I told the manager I'd look back at the menu for another option, she responded, "Okay... are you going to tell the waitress what drink you want?" I just looked at her, confused, and said, "Well... yeah?" How else was I supposed to order a replacement? The interaction came across as unnecessarily rude. Then it was time to order food. My boyfriend ordered the truffle burger, and I ordered the French toast. The waitress came back a few minutes later and said they couldn't make the French toast. No problem, I told her I'd also have the truffle burger. She acknowledged it, wrote it down, asked how I wanted it cooked, and what side I wanted. I ordered it medium-well with fries. So both burger orders were sent in at the same time. About 20 minutes later, the food arrived, but only my boyfriend's burger and an extra side of fries that we never ordered. At that point, we didn't even bother saying anything about the fries because we were trying to avoid making things more difficult. We waited another 20 minutes (even though it was so slow). My boyfriend finished eating, and my burger still hadn't come out. Finally, we asked for the check and requested that my burger be removed since it never arrived. That's when the waitress told us I had never ordered a second burger. I was honestly speechless. I reminded her that she had taken my order after telling me they couldn't make the French toast. She had written it down, asked how I wanted it cooked, and asked what side I wanted. Her response was that she thought I meant only my boyfriend's burger. That explanation made no sense because my boyfriend's order had already been taken before she took mine. It honestly felt like we were being gaslit over something as simple as ordering a burger. To make matters worse, after we paid and were finally leaving, I looked at the receipt and realized I had been charged for the salted caramel latte that I never actually received. We had to go back yet again. Thankfully, a different employee, not the waitress or the manager helped us. They were friendly, understanding, and quickly corrected the charge. I'm not sure if management has changed, but this entire experience was unnecessarily frustrating from beginning to end. Everything that could have gone wrong did. Honestly, I should've taken the "B" health grade posted on the window as a warning. We ended up walking over to Blue Bottle next door for coffee instead, and I'd absolutely recommend going there if you're looking for a place that actually values customer service. After four years of coming to Zinc, this experience has me seriously questioning whether I'll ever be back.

Lastly, I really dug the tostadita de atún. It hit perfectly on these hot summer days. Low-key, I still want to try the El Rey de Noche. Tacos de beef trompo are starting to hit LA, and dude was ahead of the curve making picanha-brisket tacos de trompo. Service is smooth too. The servers are helpful, and solid at the bar. Overall, it's a cool spot with a menu that feels unique to LA.

The outdoor space was absolutely beautiful and the perfect setting to celebrate with my closest friends and family. We did a family-style brunch, and let me tell you, they did not miss. We started with the arugula salad, Louisiana shrimp aguachile, and cream biscuits. Those biscuits? Listennnn. Order them. Fight over them if you have to. lol They were THAT good! For the main dishes, we shared the French toast, chilaquiles, and shrimp and grits, along with house-made bacon and butterball potatoes. The French toast and bacon were my favorites by far. My goodness. I am still thinking about them. The shrimp and grits were also perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. What made me laugh was that our group is usually very chatty. There was so much talking, catching up, and laughing. Then the food arrived and suddenly all you heard were forks and spoons hitting plates followed by a bunch of "mmm," "oh wow," and "girl! you've got to try this." That's when you know the food is doing its job. Our server was amazing and took such great care of us. Everything came out smoothly, and we never felt rushed. Between the beautiful setting, incredible food, and being surrounded by people I love, it was one of those afternoons I'll always remember. I'll absolutely be back, and those biscuits and French toast will be the first things I order.

I called a month ago to make a reservation for July 12, and af tree r going back and forth with Kylie in the private dining, sent an email on 6/20 letting her know to cancel as they were inflexible for our group. Shame on them as we went elsewhere to sent the $2,000+ for a birthday brunch. Lo and behold, I am now being charged $275 for no reason. Does this place practice fraud or just bad communication? I expect to Have my money refunded back to me asap. This has been the worst restaurant experience I've ever dealt with from the snooty reservation process to the now fraudulent charges on my card. I expect to get have a call back ASAP,
