I really enjoyed the food, especially the torta de bistec. The only issue I ran into was that I ordered a togo , and it felt like the food wasn't quite at its full potential flavor-wise. The chicken mole taco had a good tortilla, but it was a bit hard, probably because I ordered it to go. The mole itself was very rich, traditional, and on the sweeter side. My boyfriend also mentioned that his burrito was a little dry. I would like to come back and try it in person. Hopefully next time changes my opinion.

The Oaxacan food here is amazing!! My wife and I came for our anniversary before the Dodger game and the Tlayudas and tacos are so good! The service was great and the staff were super friendly. The place was clean and it was a great spot for us to grab lunch together. Highly recommend!

I had a great experience visiting this location. It is small inside, but the food is very delicious and the service was extremely attentive. The handmade tortillas were absolutely delicious and the highlight of the meal. everything was extremely flavorful and adding a little bit of red sauce was fantastic on the meat tacos . Great place to stop for some authentic Oaxacan food!

My friend and I were looking for a late lunch spot since we were starving, and Tlayuda happened to be nearby so we decided to check it out. We came on a Sunday afternoon around 4:30 pm and it was pretty empty with only one other customer in the restaurant. Luckily we found street parking right around the corner, but it didn't look like there was much parking available in this area. The restaurant is quite small and we missed it the first time driving past. Had to circle around again before we spotted it. As the name suggests, their specialty is the tlayuda, which I would describe as a Mexican pizza made using a large tortilla. There's a nice description and picture of one on the front of the menu. Because I was starving, I wasn't feeling particularly adventurous and decided to get the carne encebollada ($16.50) instead, which is a plate of grilled meat with onions, rice, beans, and tortilla. Rice, beans, and meat, you can't go wrong with that combo! I asked for half chicken and half steak so I could try out two different meats and was really glad I did. I liked the chicken more than the steak since it was juicier and more tender. It was a lot of food, but for me it was the perfect amount, and I finished everything off. This meal hit the spot and was exactly what I wanted. My friend got the enchiladas verdes ($15.50) and enjoyed his food as well. The owner was super nice and gave my friend some mole to try when he was considering getting the enchilada de mole but wasn't sure if he would like mole since he's never had it before. That was really nice of her to offer!

Yall.... This was so damn good!! I searched the maps "Lunch" and did not want to eat any fast food, and stumbled across this restaurant! First time ever trying it and I've listed the things I've ordered below. I went with my very picky Mexican grandmother and she absolutely loved it. She likes her food spicy so we ordered another side of their salsa verde. "Estaba muy rico" my grandmother says!! They also have bathrooms so that's a good bonus as well! So, overall this was a really good experience and the glass jars the Jamaica came in was cute :)!!! Service was great, we got our food in like 10-15 mins of ordering! And since it's like reaching 90 degrees here in LA, it had good ac and the vibe of the restaurant was small and cozy!!!

Looking to support your local business and fresh authentic Oaxacan food? Look into Tlayuda L.A. Restaurant Everything was fresh and made to ordered. I saw the cook cut and scooped out the avocado to make the guacamole. Staff is friendly and attentive. Great art work on the wall, very homey feel. Like family! Their main attraction, Tlayuda Supreme, is amazing! Crispy! You gotta come try this place!

Please stop settling for fast food Mexican pizza and make your way to Tlayuda LA for the real thing. We came here for the tlayudas, (large tortilla with beans, lettuce, cheese and meat - like a Mexican pizza) but everything we tried here was homey, made to order and soso good, down to the kids meal! It's a simple, casual dine-in spot off Santa Monica Blvd near the 101 entrance, but it seems like a lot of people get their orders to go. Finding street parking on a Sunday afternoon wasn't fun even when it's free that day. I appreciated all their street/pop tlayuda art that was displayed throughout the restaurant. They have a lot of food options, such as a vegan menu. We also really enjoyed their mole which is hard to come by! Definitely coming back for another tlayuda and their breakfast.

Vegan Chipotle Torta Black Beans White Rice

Tlayuda LA is a gem in Los Angeles. Some of the best Oaxacan food in the city, offering plenty of variety including vegan and vegetarian options. The flavors are rich and comforting. My favorite dish is the vegan chipotle torta with Serrano salsa, a side of black beans, and chips with guacamole. The horchata and cafe de olla are special as well. Ultimately though, the vegan mole made with Jamaica as the "meat" substitute is INCREDIBLE and the highlight of the restaurant in my opinion. I strongly encourage everyone to try just about anything on their menu because I promise you will come back for more!!

I used the reviews on yelp to find this place!. So as we walk in its a small restaurant which was clean, simple and had some art work on the walls near the entrance representing Los Angeles. Right away we were acknowledged and seated... this is a bonus. The manager Jahir was very friendly and attentive. His service was so amazing that because my friend and I weren't sure what drink to choose he let us sample them all!!! They had the aqua's Fresca which I liked the Hibiscus flavor and my friend chose Tamarind. The food all around was all homemade even the tortillas!!!, however the sauces were amazing hot but not fiery which gave lots of flavor!!!! Yummy!!! This place is a golden gem. A place that not only treats you like you're a part of their kitchen but provides a positive experience. The overall visit was DELIGHTFUL which is the word that best describes Tlayuda.!! Go support and try it yourself because trust.... You're getting good quality, authentic Mexican food!!! 10 THUMBS UP!

Love the greetings from a very nice person. Their speciality is Tlayudas, but thought for the first time I'd stick with tacos. Next time I will be more adventurous and try them.

Green chilaquiles with chorizo & Green chilaquiles with chicken

love love loveee it here!! they're food is so good and homemade. their chilaquiles are my absolute favorite (get medium if you want it spicy but not tooo spicy). I travel up to an hour every time just to eat here. highly recommend their food and the aguas frescas! service is kind and attentive. it's a small restaurant, family owned and very much gives that vibe which I personally prefer. 10/10

No apology, no real explanation--they basically just brushed it off. Thankfully, the food saved the night! The Michelada oysters were TO DIE FOR--seriously one of the best oyster flavors I've ever had. We also had the short rib plate, which was delicious. The outdoor atmosphere and decor are really cute too. I would come back, but ONLY for those oysters--definitely not for the service.

Sonoratown was our first stop as it was highly recommended by my boyfriend's brother, and it did not disappoint. It immediately earned a spot in our top five favorite taco spots for carne asada in all of Southern California! The location that we went to is located in between Elysium DTLA and Perfumeria Starlux on E 8th St in downtown LA. There is only paid(?) street parking around the area that could be extremely difficult to find during work days. Because we couldn't snag a spot, my friends and I opted for takeout and didn't end up eating until about 30 minutes later. Despite the travel time, the tacos were still absolutely incredible--I can only imagine how spectacular it tastes fresh! My friends and I ordered the carne asada tacos, and my boyfriend opted for the cabeza. Before I even took a full bite, I tasted a piece of the loose carne asada and was blown away; it was perfectly cooked with a wonderful tenderness and deep smokiness. The use of a single, thin, handmade flour tortilla--rather than the standard double corn--was a total game-changer and exactly how I preferred my tacos. The salsas were equally impressive, offering fantastic flavor and a great kick. My boyfriend's cabeza taco was just as standout, featuring super-tender meat with a rich, savory profile. Wowowow! Between the exceptional meat quality, bold flavors, and great value, this is easily one of the best taco spots I've visited. It's a huge bummer that they don't have a location down in San Diego, but we will definitely be back!

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.
