    Overpriced breakfast burrito
    Zoe T.

I was craving a breakfast burrito. I've been trying to find a good one in town. This one was OK, nothing special- I got the beef- but I feel absolutely robbed that I spent $20 on a burrito this size. Including horchata, I spent almost $30. Maybe their tamales are worth it? I should've just gone to chipotle.

Fabulous place to eat! Loved the chilaquiles! Great outdoor seating with view of mountains. Lovely service.

After a long hike, I was starving and ready for food. This simple spot is perfect for a casual lunch. Tamaliza is a must, especially for veggie and vegan options. There are two parking areas. One behind the restaurant, which comes up first and connects to other businesses, then the dedicated front parking area. Once parked, go inside and order at the counter. Tamales are incredible. Ask for suggestions if you need help. The horchata is made vegan and it's fabulous. Give it a try. I got veggie tamal (~$20) with all the works and it was heavenly. The mushroom tacos were also good but the tamal was where it's at. The masa is seasoned really well. I think it's the best I've ever had.

The service was warm and welcoming. It was hard to decide what to get as we watched other customers food being prepared--everything looked incredible. We settled on chicken burrito and a chicken mole tamale. Chips and salsa were a solid addition. This was one of the highlights of our day in Sedona, so glad we found it!

tamale supremo: black beans, raw spinach, cheese, sour cram, salsa, guacamole + house-made pickle radish = $19.50

Tamaliza was probably my favorite meal I had during my visit to Sedona. I came for the tamales. We ordered two: -vegetarian tamale supremo ($19.50): poblano peppers with cheese and corn -pork in red mild sauce supremo ($19.50) For what it's worth, for an extra $9.50, your tamales get dressed up with black beans, raw spinach, cheese, sour cream, salsa, guacamole + house made pickle radish. All the accoutrements were great, but honestly, you could do without - the tamales packed plenty of flavor on their own. I also thought that the raw spinach was a weird addition to the medley of toppings. The tamales themselves are fire. The masa to filling ratio is perfect. If you like a good tamale, Tamaliza is great. It's cute and good. Come.

I found Tamaliza on Yelp while traveling to Sedona. This place is amazing, probably one of the best chilaquiles I've had. I came in for lunch it was not packed when I came in. However when I left there was a line to order. I was given a menu and ordered at front desk. Once they give you a number you sit and they bring your food and drinks. I started with their fermented pineapple. It was good yet different to any pineapple drink I've had. I liked it, it felt like it had some spice or ginger like. When I came in was planning to order tamales as that is their signature item. However chilaquiles are some of my favs. For the chilaquiles, I ordered pork. I was surprised how simple the plate was but yet had so much flavor. It really came to the sauce combined with the pork. It did not have an egg like in other places. It did not need it. The plate held well with beans. I also ordered a chicken green sauce tamal. It was good too! The chilaquiles were my favorite of the two. The tamal was longer than I've had but packed with chicken and sauce. He brought me the mild green and the hot red sauce. They were both delish. The green sauce was a lemony tomatillo flavor. The red sauce was good with a bit of a burn if like spicy. The place is small but can accommodate seating. I sat by the windy which was a side room. Everything is nicely decorated, from the furniture to the plates. There's plenty of parking in the front and side.

This was the cutest little place in Sedona along 89A. The decor is so cute and cozy. The food was delicious, so fresh and tasty! We ordered tamales and a taco plate. All amazing! The service was top-notch. Definitely check them out if you are in Sedona.

We really enjoyed this small family owned place. The tamales were fresh and the masa was the smoothest I have ever tasted. The beans and rice were nice. We ordered beef and onion supremo tamale , chicken supremo tamale, side of rice and beans and a coke. All were good. We thought it was a bit pricey for the tamales, but they were so fresh and clean tasting. I would eat hear again. I forgot to take a photo of the beans and rice.

It's been 8 years since I found this place by accident in Sedona. I finally made it back and my memory had failed me. They make the best tamales I have ever had and the enchiladas are not far behind. I travel all over the US and have not found one better. This is a family owned business and the service is fantastic. This restaurant has counter service to place your order and they bring out your fresh made meal to your table. What I found to be really cool was the young man at the counter is the son of the owners. He was the teenager that was hanging around 8 years back when I first went. The restaurant is a really cool, quaint, Mexican themed place. We ordered the Tamale Supremo Pork, Plato Casero chicken enchilada and they were both fantastic. My favorite is the Tamale. I recommend this place to everyone and it should be a Sedona stop if you like authentic Mexican food.

Un solo tamal costó $15. El precio de los tamales individuales regularmente es de $2.50 a $3.00, excesivamente caro.

It's just okayyyyy .. very expensive for what you get . The food was good but not great . I believe they advertise that everything is "homemade" and organic maybe ?! Again food was not terrible but it was very basic ingredients. Overpriced double times what it should be in my opinion. It was 60$ with tip for two plates of food and a bottle of jarrito I removed from the fridge and popped the top myself . We sat outside the patio of plain plastic tables and benches under a tarp canopy. The bathroom is detached from the main building . I do appreciate that it's dog friendly. When I asked for a bowl of water and gentlemen told me I can help myself to the water hose by the side of building . My dog enjoyed the spray down with water after his morning hike in the red rocks. It took a good 30 minutes or more for our food to come out . No chips and salsa . It's 6$ extra if you want it. The pork tamale was ok . Tamale itself was a bit dry but the toppings helped. The chile relleno was again not bad but tastes like the 10$ plate of the same food at other establishments. It wasn't a huge plate of food . Not that anyone needs to eat a pound of food at lunch , but again the price is high , 21.50$ for one chile , a little bit of rice and beans . Also their menu calls these plates " family meals" and charges an extra 5$ to split ! What is there to split ? Not not really a shareable amount . Totally ridiculous. Overall , I would not be excited to recommend this place to friends . Expensive food . No views. Ok service . Pet friendly is a plus . The inside is small and tight . You order at the counter and they give you a number . If your diet is very particular and you need to have organic , Gf , ect , then this place might be a good option for you .

Hubby and I came here for brunch. I ordered the tamale supremo (chicken) and he had the large tacos (shredded beef) plate which included rice and black beans. My dish was topped with cheese and some greens and salsa Verde. I had the horchata and it was very good. Got hubby the Mexucan Fanta grpae soda.

We really like Tamaliza! Ricardo is so friendly and the food is so fresh and delicious. It's so difficult to find Mexican food that's healthy, and their food is non GMO, no lard, and as organic and unprocessed as possible. I love their vegan menu! I got vegan horchata and vegan tacos, so it's made with a mushroom in a red sauce. It felt meaty and hearty and fulfilling. The rice is flavorful and delicious. I love the view from the inside of the Sedoba red rocks. I can't wait to go back!

They don't only have some of the most delicious, moist gluten-free 'bagels,' (which are more like whole wheat buns and are delicious, so good toasted or fresh) but they also fresh bake a ridiculously broad range of sweet cakes and pastries, including this divine peanut butter pie, which, straight out of the fridge tastes like creamed peanut butter fudge atop an almost chewy, lightly crunchy, chocolate biscuit base. Parking was easy, and we were greeted and welcomed as soon as we walked in the door, then ushered to our seats right away. Our server, Harmony, was speedy, attentive, and super knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere was relaxed and warm, with a great window view of the surrounding Sedona beauty! It made all of us feel at ease and ready to dig into some grub! I'm the only GF-er in my family, but none of them ever mind going here. We've been to Picazzo's lots of times down the hill, and I was hoping they'd be just as consistent up the hill too--hopes granted! I enjoyed the Limoncello Margarita--very tart and tequila-forward. I substituted a salt rim for their usual sugar rim...rookie mistake. They know their stuff--the sugar rim would definitely have made it that much better! For appetizers, we ordered the Baked Brie with GF focaccia bread (the fig spread was delish, and the Brie was ooey-gooey, salty perfection), and the spinach artichoke dip with the GF flatbread (so delightfully creamy). Delicious on all fronts-- even better together on the focaccia! For our meal, my husband and I shared two plates: Spicy Baked Rigatoni and the Spicy Chipotle Chicken. Both had savory, cream-based sauces with rigatoni that did not taste GF (kudos!) and were mouthwateringly good! We didn't have enough room for dessert, but we definitely left content. Safe to say that Picazzo's is a consistently delicious and welcoming place to share a meal...in the Valley or up the hill!

The anticipation was high, and unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype. For context, I'm from California and am accustomed to fresh, authentic Mexican food. To be fair, Elote Café does not claim to be authentic Mexican cuisine. If that's what you're looking for, this is not it. The menu leans much more toward a Tex-Mex/fusion style. Drinks The margaritas were fine. We requested Tajín rims, which they accommodated, but the presentation felt underwhelming for a restaurant of this reputation and price point. High-end cocktail programs typically include thoughtful touches--dried citrus, smoked cinnamon, herbs, or something that elevates the experience. These arrived as basic margaritas with salt and a lime wedge. Appetizers The complimentary chips and salsa were just okay. The salsa had an unexpected sweetness that didn't work for me. The famous Elote, however, absolutely deserves the praise. It was the best thing I ate all night--savory, balanced, and packed with flavor. Easily a 10/10. The guacamole was also excellent. No complaints there. Entrees The chicken enchiladas had flavorful chicken, but the green sauce was overwhelmingly tart and lacked the seasoning needed to balance that acidity. The shrimp and pork belly dish was disappointing. The pork belly was good, but there were only two very small pieces. The shrimp were underseasoned and lacked flavor. The carne asada was the biggest letdown of the night. It arrived covered in a red sauce that seemed to be attempting an enchilada-style sauce, topped with pickled onions and a slice of bleu cheese. While I appreciated the pickled onions, the bleu cheese felt like a strange addition to a carne asada dish. More importantly, despite being described as a prime cut skirt steak and cooked rare as requested, the meat was surprisingly tough. Rice&Beans The entrees came with rice and beans. The beans were acceptable, though nothing memorable. The rice, however, tasted like boxed or instant rice. At a restaurant where a dinner for four can easily approach $300, I expect better than something that tastes like it came from a pantry packet. It's a small detail, but details matter when a restaurant has built its reputation around being a must-visit dining destination. Dessert By this point we had no intention of ordering dessert, but we were celebrating a birthday and received a complimentary ice cream dessert. It was actually very good. The vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and caramel sauce all tasted house-made and had a rich dulce de leche flavor. Final Thoughts Our bill was nearly $300 for four people, and the overall experience simply wasn't worth the cost. Aside from the elote and guacamole, most dishes felt underseasoned, unbalanced, or failed to justify the restaurant's reputation. What puzzled me most was seeing several empty tables throughout service. Given how difficult reservations are to obtain, I expected the restaurant to be completely full. This is one of those restaurants where the hype far exceeds the reality. If you're worried about missing out, don't be. In my opinion, you're not.
