Double Chocolate Mousse Cake with caramel gelato

Incredible atmosphere! Watching the planes take off and land while eating was easily the highlight of our visit. Our food was exceptionally good, the crispy trout and the creamy shrimp dish were both delicious, and the double chocolate mousse cake was the perfect ending. The only downside is the 3% credit card surcharge applied after sales tax. On the plus side, restaurant parking is free, saving us a $3 airport parking fee. Highly recommend for the food and the runway views!

All 8 of us absolutely LOVED our meals. From 10 years old to 59 years old. From chicken to burgers, steak to fish. They were all amazing! The chef there really knows what he or she is doing! Service was super friendly and very knowledgeable. Beautiful inside the restaurant and the views were gorgeous! Very welcoming and dog friendly.

We met my sister-in-law and nephew here for brunch, and it was an unforgettable experience. My nephew is a new pilot getting his hours in, so he actually flew in from Chandler to meet us! Even the drive up to the edge of Sedona is picturesque, but Mesa Grill has to be one of the best local airport restaurants in the entire country. The Vibe: Floor-to-Ceiling Views & Aviation It was a busy brunch hour, but our reserved table was ready right on time, and the service was prompt and attentive throughout. Due to chilly temps, we opted to sit inside. Thankfully, the dining room features massive floor-to-ceiling windows, so we still had incredible, unobstructed views of the surrounding area and the runway. The absolute highlight of the atmosphere was getting to walk out to the tarmac after our meal to see my nephew's plane, say our goodbyes, and watch him take off. So cool! Drinks & Brunch * Hibiscus Sun Tea (4.5/5): I skipped the coffee and opted for this instead. It was vibrant, incredibly refreshing, and I strongly recommend giving it a try. * Huevos Rancheros (4.75/5): This might be the best I've ever had--at the very least, it's the best I can remember. The chile is rich and deeply flavorful, the pulled pork is executed perfectly, and the borracho beans tie it all together beautifully. * Elote Corn & Green Chili Grits (4.5/5): We ordered this as a side for the table to share. It was a unique, slightly spicy take on grits, and we were all in. It ended up being a ton of food combined with our entrees, but we had to try it, and it was completely worth it. Tip: Make a reservation in advance, as they get busy! Request a table by the windows if it's too cold for the patio, and don't sleep on the Hibiscus Sun Tea or the green chili grits.

Food was perfect. Josh the bartender was even better. Gave great recommendations, friendly but not fake service which is hard to find. Chef and cooks produce some of the best food around. My wife literally is making me take her back and stay an extra night on vacation. Great views of all the planes taking off and landing with the red rocks in the background.

My favorite meal in Sedona. While the menu is filled with relatively standard dishes (steak, simple fish, etc) they prepare everything to perfection. We started with the Hummus & Mint Tabouleh and I went with the trout. The hummus was homemade and the tabouleh on point as well. It came with a few simple fresh, sliced veggies and plenty of pita bread. The red trout was cooked perfectly and seasoned just as well. I loved the crispy skin and appreciate that it was removed from the fish and on the side in the event I had not liked it. Service was amazingly friendly. We got there a bit earlier and they were able to offer us a seating option fairly quickly. When our app arrived, the waiter noted to give him the thumbs up when we'd be ready for our mains and they would get fired up - love that so nothing sits under a heat lamb forever. Pro tip - arrive 20-30 minutes ahead of time, park in their lot, and walk back to the outlook for a few quick photos prior to heading in to eat! Enjoy!

We were here for dinner on a Monday night, arrived around 5:15pm, didn't think we need reservation for Monday, we walked in, and there are already bunch of people families waiting there. We registered our phone number, the lady told us the wait could be 45 mins. We said okay. So we walk outside to look at the surrounding views, when we come back around 5:40, our table is almost ready. We were grateful. Their menu is extensive, we end up ordered their shrimp ceviche as shared appetizers. It's huge and a lot of stuff. Different from the ceviche in a Mexican restaurant, but still tasteful and refreshing. I also get their chicken lotus wrap as my main course, husband got their tuna. Both came out really great. We are both satisfied. Our server is also pretty good and attentive.

    Just after sunset

Wow!!!! This restaurant offers stunning views of Sedona. We arrived just after sunset and were treated to the beautiful Sedona colors and scenery. We kept our food simple--burgers with an outstanding salad. My pecan old fashioned was pitch perfect. My sister's spicy margarita was tasty. The prices were reasonable and the service was professional, lively, and fun. I regret that we didn't return the next morning for brunch because the scenery was wonderful.

    Blood orange margarita

Cocktails were not good. We all had different drinks and no one was happy. Flavorless. Even the non-alcoholic lemonades and soda were flat and tasteless. Food was good! The chicken lettuce wraps were delicious as were the tacos and eggplant meatballs. Great views and good service.

Closeup of planes, seen under the tent
    Elaine F.

We were looking forward to the views and we had hoped to be able to sit outside. When we arrived, they took us into the second room, which I guess is indoor/outdoor, but last night, the plastic sheeting was down so it felt more in than out. We did see some patio tables outside but they did not seem to be using them. It is cool to watch the planes come in and take off. There is a big tent outside that also impacted the view to a degree. Our server was pleasant. The food was good, and the servings were huge. We ordered the chips, guacamole, and warm salsa as an appetizer. It was really tasty, and it would be great for a table of four to share. It was a lot for only two. For our main dishes, my husband ordered the salmon and I had the chicken schnitzel. It was very tasty, but it was a full chicken breast pounded flat, so it was much more than I could eat. We could have shared an entree and been fine. So it was an interesting meal, watching the planes. People were gathering at the airport mesa vista to stay and watch the sunset.

Its been over a year since my celiac diagnosis. One thing i missed the most is fried calamari. Mesa frill has GF fried calamari and it was magical. Came with fried pickled jalapeños and omg they were amazing. My trout's and grits were great. BFs tuna steak was also amazing. Definitely would come back! Next day wasnt sick at all!

As often as I have been in Sedona I don't remember ever trying this place. It was great although it didn't start that way. We were a group of 5 and walked in without a reservation which appeared to piss off the hostess. Later we figured out she just was cranky with everyone. Ha. The wait staff were very nice. I ordered the trout and substituted garlic mashed potatoes for the green chili grits. The trout, spinach and potatoes were all yummy. Trout skin was flash fried and placed on its side in the plate. It was good too. They have a decent wine selection too.

If you are Looking for a great view there isn't one. The biggest window view in the restaurant is of a boring airport parking lot. Not of the red rocks. This is advertised as the best view ??? Food was a bit off medium is actually rare And we were advised incorrect about how pink "medium temp"burgers truly are.

Biscuits and Gravy with eggs over easy, egg white omelet with spinach, dripped Coffee, orange juice.

We stopped in for breakfast today and were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait. We were seated right by the window, which gave us a great view of the planes coming and going outside. It made for a fun and unique breakfast setting. The service was pretty average overall. Our server started off fine but seemed to disappear after taking our order, and there were a few delays along the way. Our food was brought out by the runner, who also ended up helping us when my order came out incorrect. I really appreciated how quickly they worked to fix the mistake, it only took about 10 minutes for my corrected plate to come out, which I would say was handled efficiently. One highlight was the pressed coffee, which was much more enjoyable than standard pot-brewed coffee. It tasted fresh and flavorful, and definitely elevated the meal. As for the food itself, the breakfast plates easily made it to the top of our list of places we've tried in Sedona. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The only thing we would change would be the breakfast potatoes, they weren't quite what we consider traditional "breakfast" potatoes and could use a little improvement. Overall, once we received the correct items, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the atmosphere, and the view. It's definitely a place we would return to.

Mesa Grill - Sedona Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Mesa Grill - Sedona

What's the difference between standard seating and patio seating? We will be going beginning of June so is the covered patio have air conditioning?

It is a covered patio with plastic windows. I know it has heat but not 100% sure about a/c. Being in the AZ climate I would assume it does. Make the call to make sure.

    Do you have happy hour?

    Yes they have happy hour.

    How much for Burgers?

In April 2022, the burger prices range from $14-$18 I posted photos and a review. We loved the food!!!

    How much is brunch?

We offer brunch menu and prices range from $10 to $30 . Happy new year

Will Mesa Grill be open on Thanksgiving? I've tried to call but no one is answering.

Yes ...call before 10AM or or at 8PM

    What type of attire recommended?

It was pretty casual. My husband & I went for a late lunch on a hot day, and we had shorts on. (It is by the small airport ; and it seems several other diners had just been on a plane or helicopter ride as well.)

    Do they allow dogs?

Yes! They allow dogs on the patio & even have a section on the menu for dogs!

How do you make a reservation here ? They dont answer the phone

I apologize , when would you like to come in and how many people ?

Is there a children's menu? If you've dined here with children, what did they order? I've tried calling a few times but no one answers. Thx!

In my opinion, they have a children's menu. Depending on the ages of your kids, and what they like to eat and what you like to feed them, I think we have a match! Check with…

After visiting the Pink Jeep tour, we headed over and immediately loved the vibe. The restaurant has a funky, eclectic feel that's full of personality, and we ended up sitting outside on the back patio, which was such a great atmosphere. It felt relaxed and distinctly Sedona. I'll address something that may be helpful for other travelers. As we were leaving, a group of women mentioned to us that they had experienced some prejudice during their visit. As a Black couple, that naturally gave us pause and stayed in the back of our minds while we were there. That said, I can only speak to our own experience, and throughout our visit we felt welcomed, comfortable, well-served, and completely taken care of. We saw a diverse mix of guests and staff, and everyone we interacted with was kind. I mention it only because I know other travelers may be looking for that perspective when researching places to visit when from out of town. Now for the food. The fresh-baked biscuits were massive and absolutely delicious. I also really enjoyed the coffee, and I have to mention the mugs because they were surprisingly cute and added to the charm of the experience. Of course, the real star here is the omelet menu. There are over 100 omelets to choose from, and as people who love a good omelet, we were in heaven. Our meals were excellent, and honestly, I wish we'd had more time in Sedona because I would have happily come back to work my way through several more options. When a restaurant specializes in something and does it well, I usually stick to what they're known for. Between the unique atmosphere, great coffee, giant biscuits, and seemingly endless omelet choices, The Coffee Pot ended up being one of our favorite breakfast stops in Sedona. If we ever make it back, it's definitely on the return list.

Throughout the meal, not a single drink at our table was refilled or asked to be refilled once. We spent most of the time with empty drinks, and basic table check-ins were lacking overall. I did jokingly ask the server "What do we get for leaving a review" and I can tell she was taken aback by the question but still came back with my order saying all she could was extra whip cream because she didn't have that kind of reputation. I feel as though this shows her lack of confidence and experience. I don't expect free things, but I do expect attentive service -- especially when asking customers to publicly praise the experience.
