This is hands down the worst meal that I have ever had, ever. I actually feel obligated to warn people away from this restaurant. Even the cocktails were bad. But the food? Awful. We left both of our meals 3/4 uneaten. We had the calamari as an appetizer- it was soggy, but that wasn't the problem tbh- it was the other two dishes we ordered: the southwest pasta tasted bad. How do you screw up pasta? The description of the dish sounds delish, pasta, mushrooms, chicken, spinach in a tomato cream sauce, it was horrible. Something must have been spoiled in the above listed ingredients to have it taste that way. I had ordered the chicken lettuce wraps as my main and it tasted reheated. The Paloma and Smoky peach margarita had way too much alcohol and also had zero flavor, we asked for them to be removed from our bill because we could not drink them. You can enjoy sunset without eating here as there is a lookout. Save yourself the waste of money and don't eat here. We literally left the Mesa Grill and had to go grab food elsewhere. I've been flying my plane down here for the last 10 years. I've probably been to this restaurant over 50 times. Today I tried to make a reservation for Saturday morning and to my surprise whoever took the reservation. I think his name was Justin.? wanted to get my credit card and charge me $35 per person in case of a cancellation fee! So if I have a maintenance or weather issue and I can't fly my plane from Boulder City to Sedona, they're gonna charge me $175? WTF! We met my sister-in-law and nephew here for brunch, and it was an unforgettable experience. My nephew is a new pilot getting his hours in, so he actually flew in from Chandler to meet us! Even the drive up to the edge of Sedona is picturesque, but Mesa Grill has to be one of the best local airport restaurants in the entire country. The Vibe: Floor-to-Ceiling Views & Aviation It was a busy brunch hour, but our reserved table was ready right on time, and the service was prompt and attentive throughout. Due to chilly temps, we opted to sit inside. Thankfully, the dining room features massive floor-to-ceiling windows, so we still had incredible, unobstructed views of the surrounding area and the runway. The absolute highlight of the atmosphere was getting to walk out to the tarmac after our meal to see my nephew's plane, say our goodbyes, and watch him take off. So cool! Drinks & Brunch * Hibiscus Sun Tea (4.5/5): I skipped the coffee and opted for this instead. It was vibrant, incredibly refreshing, and I strongly recommend giving it a try. * Huevos Rancheros (4.75/5): This might be the best I've ever had--at the very least, it's the best I can remember. The chile is rich and deeply flavorful, the pulled pork is executed perfectly, and the borracho beans tie it all together beautifully. * Elote Corn & Green Chili Grits (4.5/5): We ordered this as a side for the table to share. It was a unique, slightly spicy take on grits, and we were all in. It ended up being a ton of food combined with our entrees, but we had to try it, and it was completely worth it. We were here for dinner on a Monday night, arrived around 5:15pm, didn't think we need reservation for Monday, we walked in, and there are already bunch of people families waiting there. We registered our phone number, the lady told us the wait could be 45 mins. We said okay. So we walk outside to look at the surrounding views, when we come back around 5:40, our table is almost ready. We were grateful. Their menu is extensive, we end up ordered their shrimp ceviche as shared appetizers. It's huge and a lot of stuff. Different from the ceviche in a Mexican restaurant, but still tasteful and refreshing. I also get their chicken lotus wrap as my main course, husband got their tuna. Both came out really great. My favorite meal in Sedona. While the menu is filled with relatively standard dishes (steak, simple fish, etc) they prepare everything to perfection. We started with the Hummus & Mint Tabouleh and I went with the trout. The hummus was homemade and the tabouleh on point as well. It came with a few simple fresh, sliced veggies and plenty of pita bread. The red trout was cooked perfectly and seasoned just as well. I loved the crispy skin and appreciate that it was removed from the fish and on the side in the event I had not liked it. Service was amazingly friendly. We got there a bit earlier and they were able to offer us a seating option fairly quickly. When our app arrived, the waiter noted to give him the thumbs up when we'd be ready for our mains and they would get fired up - love that so nothing sits under a heat lamb forever. Pro tip - arrive 20-30 minutes ahead of time, park in their lot, and walk back to the outlook for a few quick photos prior to heading in to eat! Enjoy! read more

We were looking forward to the views and we had hoped to be able to sit outside. When we arrived, they took us into the second room, which I guess is indoor/outdoor, but last night, the plastic sheeting was down so it felt more in than out. We did see some patio tables outside but they did not seem to be using them. It is cool to watch the planes come in and take off. There is a big tent outside that also impacted the view to a degree. Our server was pleasant. The food was good, and the servings were huge. We ordered the chips, guacamole, and warm salsa as an appetizer. It was really tasty, and it would be great for a table of four to share.It was a lot for only two. For our main dishes, my husband ordered the salmon and I had the chicken schnitzel. It was very tasty, but it was a full chicken breast pounded flat, so it was much more than I could eat. We could have shared an entree and been fine. Wow!!!! This restaurant offers stunning views of Sedona. We arrived just after sunset and were treated to the beautiful Sedona colors and scenery. We kept our food simple--burgers with an outstanding salad. My pecan old fashioned was pitch perfect. My sister's spicy margarita was tasty. We stopped in for breakfast today and were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait. We were seated right by the window, which gave us a great view of the planes coming and going outside. It made for a fun and unique breakfast setting. The service was pretty average overall. Our server started off fine but seemed to disappear after taking our order, and there were a few delays along the way. Our food was brought out by the runner, who also ended up helping us when my order came out incorrect. I really appreciated how quickly they worked to fix the mistake, it only took about 10 minutes for my corrected plate to come out, which I would say was handled efficiently. One highlight was the pressed coffee, which was much more enjoyable than standard pot-brewed coffee. It tasted fresh and flavorful, and definitely elevated the meal. As for the food itself, the breakfast plates easily made it to the top of our list of places we've tried in Sedona. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The only thing we would change would be the breakfast potatoes, they weren't quite what we consider traditional "breakfast" potatoes and could use a little improvement. Overall, once we received the correct items, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the atmosphere, and the view. It's definitely a place we would return to. read more

As often as I have been in Sedona I don't remember ever trying this place. It was great although it didn't start that way. We were a group of 5 and walked in without a reservation which appeared to piss off the hostess. Later we figured out she just was cranky with everyone. Ha. The wait staff were very nice. We got seated right away and started with the chips, warm salsa, and guacamole appetizer. The salsa was especially tasty. For my entree, I ordered the Blackened Salmon Caesar Salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. I liked that the parmesan cheese and dressing came on the side, and that the lemon wedge was also blackened. This is my parent's favorite place to eat when we visit Sedona, but tbh I hadn't been in probably 15 years so I didn't know what to expect. We came during Thanksgiving week, around 1:30 in the afternoon and didn't have to wait to be sat. I ordered the Carolina pulled pork plate, served as a sandwich (an free option) and it was literally one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. The side it came with was called jalapeño slaw and elote corn, but it was off-the-cob roasted corn with chopped jalapeños and cojita cheese which wasn't bad but could have been better. We also got the "sun brewed hibiscus tea" which was jamiaca for $8. Outrageous, but free refills and it was really good, so whateves. I didn't think about ordering dessert until I saw the table next to us get the cobbler, so I had to grab that. It was apple cherry cobbler with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream that was the size of a fist. There were maybe 3 cherries at the bottom of the cobbler, but the mix of the warm cobbler topping/filling and the ice cream was so incredibly delicious it outweighed any negativity regarding if fruit was or was not included. This was for sure the most expensive place we ate, and I wouldn't go so far as to say it was "worth" it, but Sedona is an expensive place and I would much rather spend money on good food than not, so for me it was justified. read more

We normally love this place but service was incredibly slow. In the past they had a very large menu (something for everyone) but now it's down to one page. Part of the allure to this place, especially around sunset time, is the view...but unfortunately we were sat farthest from the window as possible. Not totally surprised since we were a party of six, but between that and the service it was just ok. My entree was good but I don't think everyone loved what they had. We made reservations for breakfast (2-top), were in our seats for over an hour and left hungry. Complete fail. The entire dining room turned while we were there including a party of 6 that were sat, fed, paid, and left before we ever saw our food. When it finally came to the table, half of the food was good and half of it was a joke of a preparation and a presentation that we just refused when it got to the table (nothing fancy - just an omelette). The manager was very nice, apologetic, and accommodating. She tried to make the best of it but couldn't make it right - we'd just been there too long and had too much disappointment. I can't recommend this place and I doubt we'll be back. They have a cool location but the chill vibe and solid diner experience of the past are long gone. Too bad. read more

I enjoyed the red grapes in the chicken salad They also included a soup, I chose chili (too spicy for me, but good) and a healthy sized side salad with plenty of pecans. It was very good. Others had a wrap (quite large) and fish and chips that were plentiful and also said were very good. The waitress was lovely. Always makes for a nice eating experience. The location of this restaurant really intrigued me (being next to the airport) and knew we had to try it out. We arrived at 9am on a Wednesday and was surprised it was as busy as it was at that time of day/week. Roughly 1/3 of the tables were filled in both the main dining room and second semi patio area. Unfortunately we did not get a window seat, which is where I think the magic really happens! Worst, we got a seat right next to the door to the semi patio area, which ensured constant distraction as servers and patrons constantly went in and out. I think the biggest problem with having the door constantly open and close, was the cold draft it created at our table (I would absolutely ask to be seated somewhere else or just wait in the future to avoid that table). My biggest gripe about the visit was the service. I'm not sure if our server was new or just having an off day, but it did unfortunately dampen our experience. Our table ordered two eggs Benedict and one biscuit and gravy breakfast entree. I had inquired about switching the potatoes for the grits and elotte and confirmed with our server we would only be charged the difference for this (vs the potato side). The difference was $3, our server tried to argue with me saying it was $4 claiming that's what his manager said and normally they don't offer the grits and elote side in the morning. I'm not sure what bearing that had, but that was his argument. I finally had to pull up their menu on my phone, to which he finally agreed with me that the difference was $3. In addition we weren't told that the coffee was unlimited, and had to ask for refills. Our server who came with the refill forgot that one of us ordered tea, and tried to "refill" the tea with coffee. Speaking of tea, the tea was an absolute rip off for $5. They serve the cheapest Bigelow tea which is barely 15 cents retail (never mind wholesale) at Walmart a bag. Surely a nice place like this could upgrade the tea to something a little more refined (say 30 cents bag?)? As a tea drinker, there is nothing more I want with a great breakfast than a great cup of tea. I certainly would be more inclined to come back for the "whole package". The food menu is really decent and it seems they make most of the stuff there. In fact the food was about the best part besides the location. The eggs on all three plates were cooked to perfection. Yolks runny and not a runny egg white in sight! Everything was good and food wise the only thing I could critique was that the grits a corn were a little on the cold side when they arrived at our table. The biscuits and gravy were good, but the person in our party that ordered them found them to have a little too much black pepper and would have preferred to control the amount themselves. The final service debacle occurred when our server brought a hibiscus tea to the table insisting we had ordered it. He disgareed with us several times and insisted it was ours before finally giving in and asking if we wanted it on the house anyhow. He sad he had assumed we ordered it because there were three entrees and there should be three drinks. I'm still a little perplexed on where he got "hibiscus tea" from... Bathrooms were clean, tables were clean. Pricing was a little high considering the lack of value in the beverages and the service hiccups we experienced. Would I come back? If I was in the area I would give it another try, but perhaps not go out of my way for it (especially if I wanted good tea with my meal). read more

We took a private plane tour and our pilot recommended this place. It has a direct view of the planes taking off. I'd recommend making an outdoor reservation.
