WD did an outstanding job removing a raccoon mom and six kits from the attic in our rental home in San Rafael. Almost three years later, a skunk returned and (after the soil was very wet from all of the recent rains) dug through and re-excavated a hole to gain access to our basement. We had a skunk problem and no experience with humane removal of wildlife. Wildlife Detectives quoted us $1030 to remove, which included fixed fees for 3 items: inspection, animal eviction, and animal exclusion from returning. I agreed, assuming the effort would take some time. The solution turned out to be fairly straightforward; it involved removing some rotten fencing, laying down 8 feet of wire mesh barrier along the side of a building, and temporarily installing a one-way trap door which is commonly available online and sells for about $35, which they removed and took with them the following day after the skunks had departed. The work took two people 3 hours for a total of 6 person hours of effort. Upon completion they insisted they be paid the full $1030, for an effective hourly rate of $170/hr. I found this to be high, given the simplicity of what they had done. When I made this point to them, they insisted that I had agreed to the full amount and regardless of how long it had taken, that was what I owed them. Their work was very professional, their behavior around their billing was not what I expected. I would encourage anyone who works with Wildlife Detectives to be more careful than I was to negotiate an agreement that is reasonably priced. After experiencing this, I did the online research I should have done first, and determined that an acceptable range for a humane skunk removal of the scope of my situation is mentioned in several places online as being in the range of $250-600. read more

It is mating season for them and Yuri explained how if nothing is done, they will have babies under my house. Even though they weren't spraying their oils were coming up through my heater vents. My experience was very poor. The first time I called, I reached someone from their company working at a job location. He told me they were busy but would text me back at the number I just called from to get more details about the bat issue I was experiencing. I never heard back. I left for a business trip a couple of days later and called back two weeks later when I returned. This time, the person told me they would be at my house at 9:00 a.m. on a Thursday (two days after I called) They arrived at 9:50 a.m. without notifying me they'd be late. The person who showed up told me he didn't have the ladder he needed to look at the roof to see where bats might be entering, but that another employee had it at a house just up the street from me and that he'd go talk to him and text me to let me know when he would return the same day. I never heard back. I texted him the next morning and he responded saying they had run into a dead animal problem and had to deal with it. I told him I no longer needed him and called North Point Pest Solutions instead. They arrived this morning 10 minutes before they said they would and addressed the problem. read more

Above and beyond David made a special trip mid-day at lunch to come out to my house in Oakland because I'd seen a skunk *inside* the house. Apparently it had dug under the foundation and burrowed up into a crawlspace that connected to our storage. He figured out what was going on, took care of steps to "discourage" the skunk from his new home, came back later to asses, and gave us instructions on how to skunk proof the area after he was finished. This is not a new review, but a response the comment from this business to my 5/15/24 review. After extrusion and clean up work in 2023, I contacted WLD on Thursday January 25, 2024 because I had another animal intrusion. Yuri responded immediately and came quickly to review the situation. Neither of us could figure out how the animal got in and Yuri stated that someone would have to come back to do more investigation, but didn't have time to schedule at that moment and he asked me to contact him later. On Friday January 26, 2024, I texted and asked if he had any idea when someone might be able to come to "investigate entry points" and he texted "I'll make it happen tomorrow." I responded "Great. I'm open all day if you need me." The following day, no one had shown up by 1:03 and I texted "I'm going out for an hour - back at 2:30." I received no response. I called at the end of the day and left a message noting that they had not come and asking if we could reschedule. I got no response. I called the next week and left another message asking if they can reschedule. I received no response. Several weeks later it occurred to me that perhaps Yuri no longer worked at the company, and so I called the number for the company that is listed online and left a message, again restating that they had made an appointment to come investigate further but never showed up and never responded to my texts or phone messages. Again, I received NO response. However, when I posted a negative Yelp review late one evening, I received a text response five (5) hours later (at 5:30 a.m.) The text (which is in the same thread in which it is clear that we made an appointment for them to come and they never showed and then never responded to my queries about when they would show up) states: "Good morning....got the review. for scheduling its easier to email...I was out due to a family emergency and this is my personal cell...Ps unfair review b/c where the skunk came back was not on our exclusion but anyways .. have a nice day." When I called Yuri on January 25, 2024, he told me to text his cell phone. I was never told to email. When they didn't show up for the appointment and he didn't respond to my texts, I considered the possibility that something had come up and I did not leave angry voice mails. I just noted that they were going to come by but didn't and asked if they could reschedule a visit. Also, as mentioned above, I contacted the company over a period of several weeks and when I didn't hear back from the one phone number, I called the number listed on the internet. They didn't respond to that message either. I am totally perplexed by their complaint that "you should have communicated with us about returning animals as quickly as you are to place a review on Yelp" - because I did communicate. MULTIPLE times. In person. In phone messages. In texts. They never responded until I left a negative review. They sent me a text about the bad review in the exact same text chain in which I texted them on the day they didn't show up for the appointment. The comment they left to my review is mostly non-responsive to my complaint about the no show and non responses. We don't know where the intrusion is coming from - that's why they scheduled a visit for "further investigation." If they had come and investigated and discovered it was a new spot, they could have simply said that I needed to pay additional fees for a new intrusion spot. I have no problem with that - but they never showed and never responded. It's really unfortunate because Yuri seemed like a very likable person and was initially very responsive to any communications. The reason I kept trying to reschedule with them was because they seemed like a good company. But their failure to show up to a scheduled appointment, their failure to ever respond to multiple texts and phone calls, and their comment to my review -- which basically just insults me and doesn't take any responsibility for missing the appointment and never following up speaks for itself. read more

This company is the best. Last year a mother raccoon got into the crawl space of my building and had babies. After calling dozens of companies, and paying some of them to do absolutely nothing to help me out, the Humane Society told me to call Wildlife Detectives. Honestly, I don't know how I didn't find them myself, but I'm glad I was finally directed to the best people. They're responsive, no-nonsense, and they know exactly what they're doing. Anyway, I called them back again this year just to do some extra exclusion work because I've been living in fear that this raccoon mom is going to try to get back in my house and have a new set of babies. They came to do an inspection of some areas of the house I didn't show them last year and they were able to seal all of the problem areas and check on all the exclusion work they did last year. 4/4/2018 This company is outstanding! Our building in downtown Tiburon became a maternity ward for a mother raccoon and her babies. The Wildlife Detectives rescued them, and found a place where they knew the mother would retrieve them during the night. Contacted the company to deal with a raccoon that was living under our house. They were very responsive. They came the next day, reviewed the problem and came up with a solution. After sealing several crawl spaces they instituted a trap which allowed the the raccoon to leave unharmed. Then they returned a few days later to monitor the property. Excellent company. David I have known for a number of years and is magic with animals and has expertise and an intuitive sense for animals. He knows best how to humanely and naturally re-direct them. This past week, I had a mama raccoon and her pup as she scaled my wall at 10:30 p.m. It was frightening since I could not tell what all the noise was - I was able to contact them the next morning, and David responded immediately - he was working on a project and asked that his son Yuri come to inspect the place and see how best to solve the solution (clearly a raccoon having to relocate her litter).
