This place was pretty good! Four dishes were definitely enough to fill us up. My friend and I came to try it out, and it was one of our friends' first time eating Indian food, so I was excited for him to experience it. We ordered butter chicken, naan stuffed with chicken, tikka masala, and beef biryani--everything was delicious! I was so eager to try the naan with butter chicken that I burned my mouth digging in. The beef biryani had a great amount of beef, just like the other dishes. The naan stuffed with chicken was different--the chicken seemed finely ground to be stuffed inside the bread, which was interesting. The service was great, and our server kept refilling our water. The restaurant is in a cute, small space but still has plenty of seating. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place! read more

This place does a good job with the kind of Indian fare you'd expect to find in a Midwestern suburb. Prices are very reasonable and quality is consistent. I've only gotten takeout but the dining room has always looked busy with contented diners. Menu is large and full of the typical entrees, and they seem to pride themselves on their goat dishes. When I request medium spice level, I do indeed get what I expect "medium" to taste like; my sister ordered something "mild" and was surprised that it was more like "zero spice", but I think that's fine. Their menu does have a few unique items like the "Delhi's Dhaba Chicken" I just had, but it didn't taste extremely different from something more familiar. Whatever; I'm glad there is a place in this area with good Indian food at good prices and served quickly. read more

My bhindi masala was barely curried and not spicy even though I ordered it hot. I just got takeout from Tamarind. They must have changed chefs, I'm sorry to say. I got lamb curry and chicken curry and the meat in both was so dry it was inedible! The food was seasoned well even at a mild spice level. The service was inconsistent, ranging from "welcome" to "why are you still here" even waiting to order. The water provided had particles in it and not one care was given by the staff. It took too much to actually support this business. Ordered delivery from Tamarind. The food did arrive hot, but the Indian goodness sort of stopped there. I ordered Aloo Gobi (potatoes and cauliflower) which is usually a pleasantly spiced dry curry. They got the dry curry part right, but somehow the pleasant spices must've gotten left in the bazaar in Punjab. I think it was the blandest Indian food I've ever eaten. The naan was alright, the papad had nice flavor but the chutneys were kind of meh. This new little gem is hidden in a strip mall across from Pinstripes. The parking situation was dangerous and difficult but oh was it worth it! The delicious aromas that waft past you as soon as you walk in the door help you know you made the correct decision for dinner. Everything sounded so amazing on the menu it was tough to choose! I went for the Tamarind Special because I got veggie curry & cheese naan with a variety of tandoori meats: chicken on the bone, shrimp, salmon, and chicken breast pieces. I said mild but everything was so flavorful I probably could have gotten medium spice and did just fine. My friend ordered chicken korma with garlic naan and we shared. Everything was cooked to perfection! The chicken from the tandoori fell off the bone! The veggie curry had a great mix of veggies and both naan choices were sublime. Tamarind is a small little place in a nice little section of Edina offering a huge menu of Indian food. Service was pretty decent, although not anything to write home about. As for the food, the lamb samosas were a solid 4-star. They were quite large, as well, for the price. Flavor was on point and solid consistency in the filling. The Delhi Butter Chicken wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped, and wish maybe I'd tried another dish. It wasn't bad, but nothing stood out. Was a little bit dull relative to other similar dishes I've had. All in all, this place is a solid addition to a somewhat lacking Twin Cities Indian scene. read more

I am always looking for Indian food when I am traveling and ordered several items here. Everything was prepared technically correct but nothing was overly delicious. The butter chicken was fine. The biryani was actually a poor excuse for this traditional rice dish lacking the complex blend of spices. It was more akin to a lazy Chinese place that simply takes steamed rice and adds soy sauce and calls it fried rice. I was highly disappointed. The appetizer mix was also underwhelming. The garlic naan did not taste fresh and little to no garlic flavor. The entire meal fed me but was rather forgetful. Other findings were the order was ready in like 10 minutes. I'm used to the best Indian food and it always has a solid 30 minute preparation time, so this all added up now. Also why ask if I need utensils if I say yes and you don't put them in the bag? How do I feel now at the hotel with no utensils that I asked for?! I will not return. read more

Almost all the tables filled up shortly after -- always a good sign. I ordered more than I normally would for a party of one, but I wanted to try multiple things. Samosa chaat was my favorite dish by far. It had nice heat and the cilantro chutney was a delicious complimentary sauce. The mushroom masala was creamy and rich. The aloo gobi was cooked well and had some subtle flavor. The service was good -- making sure my water was refilled often. In general, things could have had more aromatics and spice. They use a 1-5 scale for "spiciness". For all dishes I asked for a 3 or 4 (described to me as medium to hot). I would say that the spices and aromatics used were closer to a 1 or 2. Overall an OK Indian restaurant-they do some things well: gobi manchurian, vegetarian platter appetizer, and chai to name a few. They also have a decent selection of beer and wine. I felt like the curries however were tame in spice, borderline too salty, and one note in flavor-our table ordered a couple different options and they all tasted similar (probably due to same base sauce). Our family of three went here for the first time last night, and it was outstanding. It smelled amazing when we walked in. We appreciated the tall booths, and friendly, quick service. We tried the Curry Beef, Tikka Masala and the Beef Vindaloo. A side of mango chutney and three types of naan bread (garlic, paneer and onion) rounded out the meal. All of the dishes along with the bread were truly flavorful and overall, excellent! We finished the meal off by splitting some homemade mango ice cream, which was also very, very good.
