I want to start this by saying I'm not an avid African food expertise of any sort. I've been wanting to try fufu forever. However, I'm really sad to say this is the only mediocre option available to us on the south shore. The peanut sauce was so fishy, we couldn't get past the taste and smell. The stewed chicken was super dry which is wild considering it was submerged in tomato sauce. The poff poff was something I was super excited for...but then I realized we were given old fried dough that could probably hurt someone if you threw it at them. However, I will say because it is the only option we have on the south shore, I would come here only for the egusi and fufu dish. I wish you could order the egusi soup without any protein - I just like the sauce but the tofu one will do! read more

The Egusi stew and fufu is on point! I will definitely be coming back. I drive in from Weymouth, but definitely worthwhile.

If you're looking for something outside of the usual New England fare and want to try something different- this place is fantastic. If you like Caribbean food or Jamaican food you'll love this place. I will say the flavors here are better than most Jamaican places - all of the dishes were bursting with flavor. The dining room is small but the woman who owns it greeted us and served us and she was about as nice as could possibly be. She served us some kind of red meat that was stewed with lots of tendons and cartilage - one of my personal favorite parts of beef - it was so delicious my daughter told me not to eat it all. Hate to give an average rating but I hope the feedback helps. Came in on a weekend morning at 11am. There was only one person working so the wait for the food was fairly long. The cook/server was polite and friendly. The food - The goat meat soup was flavorful but very spicy; too spicy for most people and definitely not recommended for colonizahs. The chicken skewers were dipped in raw spices that were extremely strong and did not work well together. The rice and chicken dish was OK but the chicken did not smell fresh. One of my biggest dining pet peeves is when chicken has that old chicken odor. Prices were reasonable. Parking is easy - it's on a lot. read more

NB: I ordered from this restaurant in summer of 2023. As a Nigerian myself, I know what good Nigerian food should taste like, as this is the restaurant's main cuisine. I ordered the Amala, with Gbegiri and Ewedu soup, and I was so disappointed when I got home and dug into the meal. The soup was quite tasteless, and the Amala stale, so I did not for one bit enjoy the meal. I am rating this restaurant a 3 stars. And the reason why is because my dish was extremely spicy that I could not tolerate it or finish my dish. I ordered takeout from this restaurant on their website and nothing on their website indicated that this dish would be spicy... Extra extra spicy... I am more than willing to give this restaurant another chance (and make sure I specify MILD) however they should definitely indicate on their website which dishes are spicy and what level of spices they especially for a customer like me who has a very low tolerance for spicy food (my mouth is still burning) . read more

I was very disappointed with my food. I spent 80.00 with tip it's not the money. The meat in both plates was nothing but bones and the little meat I could get tasted old. The Okra stew wasn't blended well it had big chunks of okra. I was not impressed at all. The customer service was a nice she brought my food to my car. i dont even know where to begin. my dauther wanted to try fufu for the first time. so i thought why not. so i took her to tambos kitchen in avon. everything was so pricey. i literally spend almost $80 for 3 plates of food. i said to myself you know what, its not the money that counts i know this food must be bomb. i get home and open the plates to my suprise, those were literally $ dollar plates. and the experience for my dauther was snatched. her egusi sauslce had 3 pieces of beef. did i mention i spent almost $80 in this recession. the rice were still and the meat feel like i was eating gum. and to top it all off the state tax right now in november 2023 for massachusetts is 6.25%. they had the nerve to charge me 7%. can you imagine hearing all great things about african food and want to try it so bad and you get this. i only gave 1 star because theres no zero. but thanks alot i was better off going to popoyes for a quater of that price. but thats okay. i will definitely not let this ve a bad experience for all african food i will be trying the next ine if anyone has any good suggestion. read more

Got lunch through TamBo's Kitchen at work and thoroughly enjoyed their beef patty and plain jollof rice! I was pleasantly surprised by the quantity of food and blown away by how good they both tasted! The pastry on the beef patty was flaky and spiced, and the meat inside had a great combination of different spices with just a little bit of kick. Don't let them fool you by calling it plain jollof rice- it came with tender chicken and perfectly fried plantains and the jollof rice itself was delicious! You can change out your protein for a few dollars more but including the chicken in with the base price of the jollof rice makes it an easy favorite. I selfishly wish the location was closer to Boston but would definitely be willing to trek out to Avon to try more of the offerings at TamBo's Kitchen! read more

Went here to try fufu for the first time. Got there and waited an hour for the food. We were sitting down the whole time planning to eat there. They came out with our foods bagged after an hour and instead of apologizing or something, they said "next time call ahead so you don't have to wait". Like wow. Food was not good at all, we got probably 8 different items and only 1 was good. I decided to make this review only after trying another restaurant that served fufu which 10x better. Recently got takeout for lunch. My wife and I were very excited to try a new type of cuisine! What a let down, though. I want to say that the only reason I am not giving it 1 star is that some of the food was very good. My main issue is the amount of food we received vs. the price that we paid. We spent almost $50 and received enough food for about 1 person. Extremely disappointed. The experience may be different if eating there, but that should not be the case. Very friendly service. With such an exciting menu it was hard to decide what to pick for dinner. The meat pie was quite good & the goat w/jolloff rice was as close to the homemade kind I get at lowell folk festival as you can get. Generous rice portions but the meat serving was small. Awesome jollof rice!! I asked for the veggie version of Jollof thinking it was going to be a regular rice and bean dish or some veggies on the side or something, but was I pleasantly surprised and so satisfied! These Samosas are second to none!! I should've ordered more! Yummy Beef pattie and plantains!I am well pleased with the food I treated myself for lunch! I have enough for dinner! I visited Tambo for lunch today and I will definitely be back! The first thing I noticed was how clean the restaurant was. Its small, with about 6 tables but it was nicely decorated. I ordered the vegetable samosas, rice and beans, and plantains. The rice came with this deliciously spicy tomato-based sauce. I can't wait to go back and try some more items from the menu. I recently discovered this place through Uber eats and am so happy I did !! The cuisine is primarily Nigerian and filled with flavor. I've ordered quite a few times since discovering and have yet to be disappointed. I recommended this restaurant to so many people and look forward to ordering every time.
