    Patio area, only 2 tables
    Jeesoun S.

I bookmarked Sakai 2 days ago thru Yelp search on sushi restaurants near my home. Everyone commented this restaurant was good, friendly, served fresh foods, had lots of take out orders. My hubby and I went there around 11 today. No one was there. Might be too early for lunch on Sat. The restaurant space is tiny. Had only 4 tables inside, little patio at the entrance. I found the sushi bar in the middle of restaurant but the chef was using to make sushi not the traditional sushi bar for the customers. I went over the menus including take out, decided 2 special rolls first, Washington and Eel rolls. The price was $16 for special rolls, $6 for sushi, and $8 for simple rolls such as CA rolls, yellowtail roll, and etc. We got first complementary salad, miso soup w eel roll and Washington rolls. And Sapporo beer for drink. They don't have hot Sake. Available only soda, Soju, and Japanese beers. Little dissapointed as Sake lovers. I liked the salad w soy sauce, little sour flovor to have me a good appetite. I started w miso soup then Washington, Eel rolls. The rolls are smaller than other restaurants. But tasted fresh, rice had great texture. I liked miso soup a lot. It was like my comfort soup after busy week. I ordered more yellowtail roll, 2 sushi, one Eel, anther Yellowtail. Everything was great. The chef looked like an owner, he was so busy to answer the take out orders, cook, and serve our orders. No extra server to help him!!!! I didn't see anyone. For the tip, water is self service, instant coffee is free. Overall, our first experience was good. The sizes of rolls are smaller. The price was around $16. Lunch eel bowl is $27. I took takeout menu for the future order. We will definitely come again. Pros Location & Parking: 5 stars, next to korean bakery, grocery market, easy to access in the korean strip mall Price: reasonable, affordable Service: friendly, free salad and miso soup, take out orders, Uber delivery. Cons Portion: smaller than others Dining space: tiny, only 4 tables, no sushi bar Ambiance: casual, take out only vibes

Quick takeout option, called to place my order and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. Affordable options for combo lunch bento. Opted for all sushi rolls today: Shrimp tempura roll is available with regular or spicy crab filling Yellowtail roll has spicy tuna inside Sakai special roll has spicy tuna inside and white tuna on top of the roll plus sliced red onions on top Rainbow roll has four different raw fish options: tuna, salmon, shrimp and yellowtail The chef included miso soups and green salad with the takeout order. Small and quiet restaurant, with minimal furniture. Closed on Thursdays.

Great service, food, and price. Spicy tuna roll is the spiciest I've ever had though haha. Mouth on fire and gave me the hiccups. We enjoyed our feast though!

Sushi was delicious & fresh; simple menu: sushi, simple rolls, special rolls, salads, dinner meal came w/miso soup and salad w/yummy tangy dressing. Customer service was excellent, clean, can dine-inside or outside. Parking easy and plenty. Offer catering of multiple party size sushi platters; Biggest PLUS- prices are extremely reasonably lower than other sushi restaurants. Definitely returning to Sakai Sushi

Savored every bite of our meal. Spicy means Spicy, Delicious! This is our first time at this Sushi restaurant. We will be returning. Service was excellent and the ambiance is that of one small place that enjoy your meal with a glass of beer.

The service was quick and simple, the sushi was fresh, abundant, and very delicious. Definitely try it out if you are in the area.

There's no better way to express our love for Sakai than to say that we've ordered catering from them TWICE for two of our biggest family celebrations since our wedding. That's how GOOD their service and their food is. They provide TRUE high quality food for A TRULY decent price. Our favorites: - Sakai Special Roll (10/10) - Rainbow Roll - Baked Salmon Roll - Yellowtail Roll - Spicy Tuna Roll - Cali Rolls (perfect for the kids)

This used to be our go-to place for sushi before Covid because it was affordable and delicious. I came back today on a whim and noticed things are different. Their $5 rolls are now $7 but it's to be expected with inflation. The California roll is still really good. I can't believe how expensive two pieces of toro nigiri were... and they also ran out of ikura and uni. They still give miso soup but the container is smaller now.

It says open daily, but as of I know they don't open on Mondays. Did they change schedule?

Yes they did. When they first opened they were open every single day. But they recently changed it, probably around 2 months ago. I found out the hard way. Haha!

We did try to call ahead to place a reservation, but just note that the phone number on their website doesn't work. You'd have to call the number listed here on Yelp. We went with the Silver Set, which honestly comes with everything you really need. It includes access to the Australian wagyu, unlimited meats and sides, plus a one-time seafood & sashimi platter and a specialty dish. Even though the seafood & sashimi platter is limited to one order, the portion is huge and more than enough for the table. For my specialty dish, I chose the bone marrow and WOW. It was so rich and decadent, and I loved that it came with crispy toast to balance out the tenderness. Ordering was super easy since each table gets an iPad to continuously order meats, vegetables, and side dishes throughout the meal. Between that and our very attentive server, everything arrived quickly and we never felt like we were waiting on anything. I also took full advantage of the self-service sauce bar, rice station, and ice cream bar. Mikiya is part of the Chubby Group, so you can earn and redeem points through their app if you're already dining at their other concepts. The 90 minutes definitely flies by, but you're guaranteed to leave full and satisfied. Would absolutely come back!

First all , our waitress was not very friendly or helpful and the service was a little slow. There were little flying bugs around as well ... When the food did come the meat was the best thing. Don't order the sushi or the seafood or any of the fried foods. The sushi tasted like low quality and made me feel a little ill. Just order the meat and make your own sauce ! Lastly , I only came here because I joined the chubby plus membership & this restaurant comes up on the app but when I tried to get my membership discount I was informed they are " divorced " from the chubby family and I could not use my discount. I honestly think you can skip this place and just go to broth for a cheaper option.

I also appreciate that every table comes with olive oil and vinegar. We ordered the mentai cream pasta and the uni pasta. The mentai pasta was packed with umami and the pasta itself was cooked perfectly al dente. The nori and mushrooms paired really well with the sauce as well. The uni pasta was just as good. The sauce was rich and creamy and the uni on top was fresh and buttery. The meal also comes with complimentary bread and salad. The salad was light and refreshing which helped balance out the richness of the pasta. The bread was simple but great for dipping in olive oil and vinegar. The service is always friendly and efficient. If you're a fan of Japanese Italian fusion, this place is definitely worth a visit. We got the uni pasta and the tomato cream sauce with shrimp and spinach, which were both good. They each had their own characteristics-- the uni was creamy while the tomato sauce definitely carried the other pasta. I'd definitely come back and hope to try the mentai cream pasta next!

The food was definitely the highlight, everything we tried tasted fresh and well-prepared, especially the sushi. Unfortunately, the service didn't quite match the quality of the food. Our server wasn't very attentive. At one point, I asked for a fork for my mom and it never came. After waiting a while, I had to flag down another server who finally helped us so she could start eating. There were also a few mix-ups during our visit. A dish meant for another table was brought to us, and when I pointed it out, the server questioned whether we were sure we didn't order it, which felt a bit awkward. On top of that, there seemed to be some confusion or inconsistency with ordering rules. We were told carpaccio orders were limited to one of each per person. I ordered the seared tuna, salmon, and yellowtail carpaccio, but only received one of the three. Overall, the food was great and worth trying, but the service issues made the experience less enjoyable than it could have been. Hoping they can improve on that.
