Green curry fried rice with chicken, extra spicy.
    Kristina F.

My husband and I came here late on a Saturday afternoon, intrigued by the reportedly vast menu and the fact that spicy was in their name. But like no joke, they literally have a 39 page doublesided board book menu with hundreds of options. You could theoretically come here over and over again and never have to get the same thing twice. Which my husband and I agreed to do, the food was delicious and it was tricky to decide what to get. This first time, we decided to indulge in the Thai food. I ordered pad kee mao with beef (spicy) and my husband ordered the green curry fried rice (as spicy as they would make it -- our receipt called it "zoo spicy"). They weren't messing around, zoo spicy packs a punch. Absolutely delicious though if you're into that sort of thing. Both dishes came out steaming through at separate times (the noodles made their appearance 5 minutes before the rice). There was a generous amount of meat and veggies, and despite our big appetites we had leftovers. Service was attentive and the overall ambiance of this place was modern, well-lit, and clean. Definitely a treasure of a spot in a space you might not expect. If you love rice, noodles, sushi, and/or curries, come check this spot out (possibly again and again).

Zoo Spicy Bistro was a pleasant surprise. We tried the pad see ew, yellow curry, fresh oysters, and the salmon wasachio (salmon carpaccio with fresh wasabi, sesame sauce, garlic, and masago), and honestly everything was delicious. The salmon wasachio was probably my favorite--super fresh with just the right amount of wasabi and a really tasty sesame sauce. The pad see ew and yellow curry were both solid comfort-food picks, and the oysters tasted fresh as well. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly and easygoing, and there's a large parking lot which is always a plus. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! We tried three sushi rolls (spicy BCS, tuna, and salmon ) and you can really tell the sushi chefs know exactly what they're doing. The rolls were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. The papaya salad was amazing too, perfectly balanced and full of flavor. The Tom Yum soup was SO good, seriously perfect with just the right amount of spice and flavor. And the ramen was incredibly delicious and comforting. Every cuisine we tried was done so well. You can tell there's real care and authenticity put into the food here! They're also a brand new restaurant, and they're already making such a great impression. Their menu is HUGE, so there's truly something for everyone no matter what you're craving. It's the perfect spot for groups because everyone can find something they'll enjoy! Plenty of parking in the parking lot :)

Updated: Rarely do I have to comeback and update a review but today I went to Zoo Bistro excited for some ramen and a rice bowl and left planning on never returning. My sister and I wanted to order the lunch deal, on the menu it doesn't specify it's Monday through Friday only. I server Apple made mention that it wasn't available, I brought it up that no where was that stated. I believe she spoke with the gentleman in change. He came and spoke to me, let me know even thought it wasn't posted or written anywhere that was how it works. After hearing him out & him hearing me out. He said he'd honor it once but not again. I appreciated that.. For the remainder of our time here him and the server flashed up glances, and shared conversations while looking over at us. That I didn't appreciate, my sister wanted to leave but I was really looking forward to my food. When we arrived it was about three other people here, they soon left so it was just us in the front catching strays. My strawberry dirty sprite, spicy miso ramen was delicious & my rice bowl was great, but I probably won't be back. ------------ Went to Zoo Spicy Bistro with my sister thinking we were just grabbing a sweet treat, but quickly realized it's actually a very nice restaurant; emphasis on very. The decor was everything. The menu was huge, like a full on book, about 50 pages with pictures, descriptions, prices... everything. The music was good, the vibe was good, and it took us about 30 minutes just to decide what to eat because that's how many options they had. The young man assisting us was super friendly and attentive. He answered all our questions. We came right when they opened, so we were the only ones there for a while. We both ended up getting ramen and fried rice. My sister got a chicken fried rice, and I got a salmon bowl, still really good. And then we got a strawberry dirty Sprite... probably the best Sprite I've ever had. Real strawberry pieces in it. Amazing. Freaking amazing. Everything was a decent price. I cannot wait to go back.

Saw a recommendation in Long Beach food scene Facebook group. Was in the area this past weekend and stopped by. It shares the same parking lot as cal bowl and there was plenty of parking. Upon entering we were warmly welcomed and was able to pick any available seating we wanted. Plenty of seating since we arrived shorty after they opened. Lovely design inside, clean and bright. Their menu was very extensive!! Was pretty much a kids book and we loved they had pictures of everything on their menu. So many options and everything looked good, we had a hard time deciding. I ordered the spicy tonkosu ramen ( chicken as my choice of meat) . This had a lovely savory broth and the ramen came garnished with black mushrooms, bean sprouts, cabbage and an egg. This has a little kick but for me was not too spicy. I enjoyed this ramen a lot. My fiancé ordered the hamachi ponzu and the zoo spicy roll. Both of which I sampled and were both equally delicious and was refreshing. The kale that came with the Hamachi Pozo was yummy, it literally disintegrated in your mouth. Our server was very friendly . helpful and attentive and would check on us every so often to see if we needed anything. We found out from him they have only been open for three weeks. This will become one of our go to spots now as it is close to home and offers so many options on their menu to try out we will definitely be going back and recommend you give it a try.

    Sky juice is 10/10

This place is honestly so cool. I didn't know what to expect, it's in a little shopping mall area and seems very humble from the outside but once you go in the vibe is totally different! This restaurant is actually multiple restaurants in one the menu is like a textbook it's so lengthy but that's because they offer Thai, sushi, ramen and poke items. They even have a cute mascots for each type of food! the elephant represents Thai street food the giraffe represents ramen and the hippo represents poke & sushi I ordered the sky juice as my drink of choice, it's a coconut flavored alcoholic drink super delicious and affordable. For food I ordered a bento box with teriyaki salmon as my protein and spicy tuna as my side. It came with a delicious miso soup and salad. The service was top notch. The employees here look like they actually enjoy their job and appreciate customers this was a very nice feeling. Parking is abundant, it's a big shopping mall area. Bonus: there is a bowling alley located right next to the restaurants you can literally access the bowling alley by walking past the restaurants restrooms, so convenient! Also, I'm used to the bowling alley in Downey called Del Rio lanes and they are more expensive than this place. This bowling alley seems more up to date and is charging less so that's something to consider if you're trying to find out which bowling alley to visit. I highly recommend Zoo Spicy Bistro 10/10. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their options

5 Stars! Zoo Spicy Bistro is a hidden gem! They offer sushi, ramen, and Thai food, and I was honestly a little apprehensive at first because of the fusion concept. But I was pleasantly surprised -- all three styles of food were really good! The Zoo Roll is definitely a must-try, and the ramen was excellent as well. Everything was flavorful and well prepared. The restaurant is tucked away right next to the Regency Bowling Alley, which actually makes for a great date-night combination -- grab dinner here and then go bowling afterward. The inside decor is also really cute and gives the place a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Definitely one of those places you might drive right past without realizing what you're missing. Highly recommend checking out Zoo Spicy Bistro. Definitely a hidden gem!

I've tried delivery from here for a few months now. If that was good then I knew it'd be better in person. It is. It is very darn good! The team is friendly and helpful. The restaurant in clean and very organized. I had no idea that it's connected to the arcades, bowling alley, AND the ice ring! This all makes a great place to eat alone or with the family! I tried the scallops, yellowtail, Chinese broccoli, and seafood medley in chili basil! Yes, just me lol Yes I finished it. Yes I'll be back!

    Not good quality :(

Build you own poke- comes with two toppings. They only allow one sauce. Crab salad costs extra. So does avocado. I've been avoiding reviewing because I feel bad since it was not good. Lettuce was rotting, fish wasn't fresh, veggies didn't seem good quality and the worst thing of all... pineapple was rancid :/ completely sour and the juices got all over my bowl so it ruined the flavor, it was terrible. Really too bad!

Finally decided to try this new restaurant and I can confidently say that I have had one of the best meals ever. My husband and I ordered the Thai Basil Fried Rice, Spicy Hashimi Poké Ball, Baked Green Mussels, & the Mango Sticky Rice. Everything was absolutely delicious! The staff were super friendly and patient as we looked through their massive menu! (Will definitely come back to try everything else ). The restaurant itself played great music and had an overall cool vibe feel! Please support this local business!

Head over to CalBowl! Love this new restaurant so much, we've already been here 3 x . Three chef friends with different specialties in sushi, ramen, curry, Thai, cutlet came together , hence such a large menu , you'll never get bored! The service is friendly, we chatted with one of the owners and took a picture with him, also added our Polaroid to their wall. Clean, bright lighting, great for date night and groups. You can ask for the birthday song as well :) There are lunch specials , happy hour, and they also offer catering trays and gift cards. Prices are comparable to other places and food portions are just right. Highlights of our food over 3 visits so far: Sushi is EXCELLENT and fresh. The POKEBALL is a fun order! The bowls are handcrafted from Japan, the chefs wanted to bring that experience here. Crying tiger good soft texture Curry spice level 2 was a good enough kick for me ! Deep fried ice cream so yummy, the outside is like a funnel cake texture. Pad thai is well balanced, not too sweet. Thai fried rice is good. Shrimps for the Thai dishes are a nice size. Ramen tonkatsu good flavor, and ramen texture is great! Mango sticky rice is nicely balanced, not too sweet .

This place is SO good. It just opened 3 days ago but our experience was flawless. We got pad Thai, Thai iced tea, Thai iced coffee, chicken cutlet curry with a side a wagyu beef, and a omelet curry. The food was SO good and the portions just right. I will definitely be returning. There is a ton of parking since they are right next to the bowling alley.

Restaurant quality just hasn't been the same, but that is not the case here. Over the years their team has continued to offer delicious food and a nice casual dining experience. The store is small and cozy, so not great for parties larger than 4, though I'd really just suggest 2. Great for lunch or a low key dinner, it is one of my go-to for ramen spots. I really love their white miso tsukemen, the thick noodles are slightly chilled and served with a wedge of lime which is a nice way to lighten the very rich broth. I've had their red miso before but its deeper flavor is a bit too powerful for my taste, so for those who like something with more umph, that's a great choice as well.

The interior is very small, maybe 16-20 seats total. For food, we ordered the gyoza 2/5, spicy white miso 3.5/5, and spicy red miso 4/5. The gyoza was disappointing since it was reheated and still tasted cold in the middle. Both ramen were filled to the brim with rich, flavorful broth. The white miso broth was slightly less thick and rich than the red miso. The noodles were chewy, and the Tao spice had a nice kick. Unfortunately, there was no AC running so we got pretty hot and uncomfortable during our meal. They also charged us for an extra drink that we didn't order. Sadly, this spot did not live up to expectations and will not return.

While HiroNori is a SoCal chain, it still feels like a mom and pop restaurant. The crispy rice with tuna was EXCELLENT! Everything you want from crispy rice and spicy tuna. The tonkatsu was delicious! Great depth of flavor. They bring you garlic and spicy paste on the side. I had to add A LOT of spicy paste to get it up to the level I wanted, but while at other restaurants I've lost the broth flavor when adding too much spice, the spicy paste just enhanced the tonkatsu broth. And the pork in the tonkatsu - truly next level. This is probably the best pork I've ever had in a ramen dish. The noodles were also fantastic with the perfect amount of bite. I loved my jammy egg as well. The restaurant itself is smaller, with fun lighting. There is a parking lot which is great. They do not have tipping, instead they have a service charge of a little over 17%. Definitely worth it!

Spice is subjective, so don't blame me if your experience is different, but I didn't find it all that particularly spicy - what I did find though was some wonderfully flavored broth with a perfect blend of spice and notes from the vegetables and other spices.
