Sausage egg and cheese on a sesame bagel and an iced caramel macchiato

Food and service is great! It's really cute inside and the menu is way bigger than I'd have expected! Got 2 sausage egg and cheese sandwiches on sesame and 2 iced caramel macchiatos. Both orders were good and speedy!

An easy to find spot in Mankato. Right on the corner with easy access to parking. Not a huge selection for breakfast. I would recommend coming here for a light lunch. I got the egg and cheese sandwich and added bacon and avocado- wasn't the best bagel I've had. The rest of my family ordered from the lunch side of the menu. The sandwiches looked better to be honest. One got the pizza bagel which I was regretting I didn't order. The other ordered the Nicollet Bike Shop which looked AMAZING. Turkey, avocado, provolone, lettuce, tomato, Mayo, and onions. Not a big selection for bagels either. I guess they are know for their bagel called kitchen sink which is basically an everything bagel. Cool experience with tables inside and outside.

Located within walking distance from my apartment. Tandem is the perfect place to grab a bagel sandwich and a tasty coffee beverage to accompany. Having lived in Mankato for a short time, I'm always on the hunt for a breakfast/brunch type of place. Tandem is the perfect spot. Staff here is very friendly and helpful in helping you navigate the menu. All the choices for coffee sounded so great it was hard to choose. I opted for a breakfast bagel sandwich and an iced coffee. Both my food and drink were ready to go within 15min. There is plenty of room to sit inside and take your time and enjoy your meal. Along the walls, there is also some neat artwork to look at from local artists. Thankful to have this place so close when in the mood for a bite and a delicious coffee.

My boyfriend and I had afternoon tea here a couple weeks ago, and I can't recommend it enough…read more Firstly, the owner was so accommodating; they usually require a week's notice for an afternoon tea reservation, but they were kind enough to set it up with a day's notice (my boyfriend's school schedule meant we had less time to plan). We started with strawberry iced tea with hibiscus ice cubes, which was so refreshing. We ordered a pot of the jade oolong, and it was delicious, although the whole menu is huge and the variety is fantastic. The food was AMAZING; it's all vegan, but even us meat-eaters were satisfied! We started with warm cherry fig scones (shaped like teapots!), then had loaded potato salad, butterbean soup, and various tea sandwiches (the vegan "pastrami" from The Herbivorous Butcher was so good!). The dessert tray was the high point, though: dark chocolate orange chia pudding with coconut whipped cream, their famous almond tea cookies, and these tropical fruit pastries that I can't remember the name of. My boyfriend is not normally a fan of sweets and he still ate most of his half, which is saying something! The shop itself is adorable; the decor is eclectic and cozy, and there's a little shop in the back where you can buy bags of their tea as well as other cute products. I definitely want to go back again to try their other teas and just sit and read. Seriously, this is one of my favorite places in the area!

We entered through the backdoor, however, and I didn't realize they had another whole case at the front so I missed a bunch of the flavors. I had the Mint Explosion (?) which was tasty and creamy - no ice particles here! No one really greeted us or asked if we had any questions, which was a little frustrating. My husband seemed in a rush so I just ordered but would have preferred to have known if I could do more than 1 flavor in a cup or if they had cones? (Everyone was getting cups which makes me think no?) The menu wasn't super clear, though I suppose for regulars its fine. We sat inside, but the outdoor patio/garden was nice and they had plenty of seating in the SHADE!

I am the last person to tell someone to smile. SO annoying! But, the 3 people working looked so unhappy to be there. No friendliness whatsoever. Now, I am obviously not aware of placement of individuals on the neurodivergency scale, but if one is in customer service and especially serving ice cream, some level of joyfulness might be expected. Perhaps even, dare I say, a smile when a customer makes a funny mistake. I know I said they were busy, but they didn't seem frantic or overrun in any way. It just felt a bit uncomfortable, like when you walk in on an argument and they stop because you came in. BUT, back to the ice cream. It was good. Would have loved a peanut butter chocolate flavor (not available that day), but was okay with cookie dough and Macha as a surpringly good combo. We also had the cafe latte da, which was amazing! Will likely go back again with hopes of a more comfortable, maybe even joyful, experience. I'll be sure to time it when PB Loves Chocolate is being served!
