Chose this place for my FB dinner club group to usher in the new year. Honestly...wished I picked somewhere else. The food was great and the service was decent but what ruined the night at least for me is the fact they put our party of 9 on the crap end of their "chef" table. I was seated at the end of the table right next to their kitchen door. One of their incompetent servers kept hitting my chair every time he walked by, EVEN after I spoke to him about it. Our server was fine but took forever getting us drink refills, including water which served in these ridiculous small glasses. The woman who sat us should have kept us at the other end of the table, where she originally sat us. Our party was bigger than the other one, and they could've been sat at the other end. Bottom line, don't pick this place for a large group, more than 5 and you'll get sat at what I now call the crap table. What a way to ruin our New Year's celebration.

We came here for our anniversary and food was amazing. Their food is more about original flavor rather than heavy seasoning like some of the other restaurants. So that's quite to our liking. Risotto tastes amazing and we'll definitely get it again.

We visited this restaurant looking for a place to hold our sons rehearsal dinner. We had several drinks had food and even talked to the owner about booking a room. Everything was on go as of Saturday. On Monday she informed us somebody wanted to book the entire restaurant and would get us some information by the end of the week, but we never ever heard from her again. Luckily, we found another place But as far as the follow up after this, it's obvious we were no longer important when we only wanted to book one room and not the entire venue. The food was great. The service was great, but the follow up after the fact left us lackadaisical.

Visiting my daughter from out of town and she heard great things about their brunch. All true. My daughter started with the spiked ice coffee, I had an iced latte then the spritzer For our meals I had the omelette she had the salmon Benedict both were fantastic.

Pancakes and sausage, both were very good

Cute atmosphere, good parking. Everything was very good. Potato had great flavor, but consistency is weird- parboiled potato, smashed, coated in oil and seasoning, including rosemary. Went for Sunday brunch and were seated quickly when they opened at 10:30. Owner was walking around checking on tables. Good customer service.

Thank you Yelp for helping us locate another incredible place to eat while traveling. The food is absolutely off the charts here, whoever is on that kitchen is creative and on point. Short rib was fork tender and just melts in your mouth. Creamy soft potatoes and the most incredible vegetable medley with some sauce that made the vegetable explode with flavor. We got their just before their early kitchen close time and thankfully so, definitely need to try more options on this eclectic menu

Had a great meal at Tandem! My friend and I treated ourselves to a nice dinner here on a Sunday night. I made a reservation for 6:30pm for 2, but I don't think it was needed since the restaurant had little people when we got there. The interior inside is very industrial, with lots of wooden features (like the floor, chairs, tabletops) and string lights hanging from the ceiling. The walls were brick, and it had great big industrial windows which provided great natural lighting. The service was fine, but nothing over the top. I ordered the 72 hour short rib, and my friend got the salmon. It was delicious. It came in a Le Creuset pot with mashed potatoes and assorted veggies on the side. Stunning presentation, and might I say, those pots are expensive, and they have multiple of them. But I guess it was worth the investment because it looked really nice. The beef was super juicy and tender. High quality melt-in-your-mouth beef. And they don't shy away from the portion. It looked like a fat square block. But it was genuinely glistening in the light. The mashed potatoes were just alright for me. They had a strong flavor that I can't pinpoint - maybe too much cheese? They also put mint on the mashed potatoes and beef, which was quite a surprise, but I don't think I prefer it. The veggies were a nice touch with the beef. Overall, great experience and amazing food. I definitely would come back for another nice dinner!

Outstanding in every respect. We have a client that will only bring their people here to eat when they're in town.

I think it was the initial shock of prices which are a bit steep for what it is. $10 for a bowl of Mac n cheese, and $13 for three sliders. Overall the prices were not great for food. The service was great though. The bar and the food area both had helpful employees. The warm tent was so nice and made it worth being outside on a colder night so it's much appreciated!! They had a cute little bon fire as well but unfortunately another group got to it before we could. Lots of alcohol options tap and cans/bottles. Love that there is parking directly behind the restaurant but you do have to pay which is just a Franklin street downer but oh well.

Until we visited, I didn't know this was Chapel Hill's first and so far only beer garden. It's located just one block east of the Carrboro-Chapel Hill border, on popular West Franklin Street. The business opened in October 2021. Over the last few years, my wife and I passed by this place several times, saw all the people enjoying beer and food outside, and it piqued our interest. We're glad we finally got to check it out. According to Chapelboro.com ( https://chapelboro.com/news/business/beer-study-moving-to-new-chapel-hill-location-new-bar-taking-over ), the folks behind Franklin Motors renovated a small building previously owned by Franklin Street Auto, LLC. That's presumably where the "Motors" part of the name comes from. There are several auto shops in the immediate vicinity, including one I went to often: Automotion. I highly recommend them, by the way: https://www.yelp.com/biz/automotion-carrboro There's a Town of Chapel Hill gravel parking lot that you can pay to park in, adjacent to Franklin Motors. We parked for free on the street (South Graham Street). Compared to other beer gardens I've been to, Franklin Motors is one of the smallest and most humble-looking. The business sits on an unassuming corner lot. It's a simple, sort-of-makeshift spot that gives off vibes of an independent garage. You can get up on the rooftop, which is nice, and they also have a dedicated food truck on site: Roquette at Franklin Motors. The building has an indoor space on the ground level. Outside, it's gravel and there's a canopy -- that's where we sat. We couldn't get the fans to work. We stayed for hours, into the night when the property was string-lit. There was also a fire pit. This place is good for groups. We had a group of eight. It's also dog-friendly. Here's what my wife and I had: Drinks * Pimms Cup (forgot the price) - Pimms No. 1, lemon juice, cucumber topped with ginger ale * Middle James Great Musa Hefeweizen, 4.8% ($7) * Noble Wild Berry Knight Cider, 6.0% ($7) Food from the Roquette food truck * Mac & Cheese ($10) - fresh cream, Ashe County cheddar, toasted bread crumbs * Hand Cut Fries ($8) - hand-cut potatoes, parsley, rosemary, thyme, and housemade roasted garlic aioli (and ketchup). * Pineapple Chipotle Tacos ($18) - braised pulled pork, simmered in a pineapple sauce, chipotle, coriander, ginger, and orange, with avocado, pickled onion, cilantro, and queso fresco * Sliders (pick 3 for $15) - we got 2 Cheeseburgers -- Baldwin Beef (Yanceyville, NC), tomato, pickled onion, roasted garlic aioli, toasted brioche bun; and 1 Cajun-fried Chicken -- pickles, house slaw, roasted garlic aioli, toasted brioche bun The drinks hit the spot. The beer selection was good. Decent variety. The cocktails were standard. The food was OK. The only underwhelming dish was the mac and cheese. While the portion size was generous, it didn't taste significantly better than instant mac and cheese. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you expect better when going out and paying $10+ for mac and cheese. I did appreciate that it was made with local cheese. Everything else was pretty tasty and again, generous portion sizes. The fries were nicely seasoned. We wanted slow-cooked duck leg instead of braised pork on our tacos, but they were out of duck. That's alright. The tacos were meaty and filling. The sliders weren't bad. The beef in the cheeseburger sliders was a bit tough (well done to overcooked), but that was fine. Better safe than sorry. The Cajun-fried chicken slider was tasty enough. Some of our friends got the Caesar Salad ($10). It looked fresh and yummy. Portions on that were generous as well. Service was fine. We visited on an ordinary summer Saturday and stayed from about 5 to 9pm. There was a slow, steady stream of customers and it never got too busy or crowded. I wouldn't mind coming back to hang out and have drinks with friends.
