By no means do I need a wine connoisseur to be employed, but to at least know the basics would be important. We had a staff take our order and another drop off a wine flight and then said that it went from the driest to the sweetest, but was saying a Cabernet is sweeter than Zinfandel which is wildly inaccurate. Of course I bartended for 10 years and served tables for another 5 so I was able to tell my husband the correct information. However, if someone doesn't know wine well and expects something specific, they may be disappointed by the misinformation. We always get the wine flights so my husband can have reds while I enjoy whites along with some small plates or snacks. With the word wine being the in name of the establishment, you will find an extensive selection of wines available by glass and bottle and categorized by white types and red types. Being a Zinfandel guy, the bartender turned me to the Girard "Old Vine" Zinfandel. This is a pricy wine at $25/glass. I enjoyed the hell out of it as it's one of the better Zinfandel's I've ever had. Definitely steep at $25. I probably should've gone with the wine flight which is what my friend did before he switched to a Malbec. I forgot which one he did but the flights are all prearranged to compliment one another. It makes for a nice experience if you're not sure what wine you want to zero in on. As for food, we paired our wine with a charcuterie board. It's a standard board with some baguette slices and a mix of cheeses and meats with a candied jalapeno spread. A very nice compliment to wine. They have happy hour, wine of the month, and a wine/dine theme for every month where they pair wines with a themed menu. Plus sangria is available as well.
