For appetizers, our favorites are the aloo tikki chaat, chili paneer, and tandoori chicken wings. Favorite entrees are the butter chicken, chicken korma, and lamb biryani (with garlic naan and raita on the side!). If you haven't tried this place, this is your sign! The food was great, I will come back again. The only thing that disappoint me was the fact that I order the Indian hot menu which means it's the hottest of them all. Had my first meal here today and the only disappointment was that it took me this long to make it here. The entire experience was perfect. We had a very friendly server who was very attentive and welcoming, and gave us some good recommendations. We were given water and roti, and then started with the aloo papri chaat and vegetable samosas. Delicious. The aloo had amazing flavor and tasted great. The samosas were warm , crisp and fluffy and well seasoned. For mains, we had the chicken biriyani and chana saag. Both dishes were amazing. The chicken in the biriyani was tender - fall off the bone delicious. The saag was also delicious and perfectly seasoned and served with rice on the side. A friend recommended Tandoor Grill and I'm grateful he did. Having moved from Brooklyn to Rockaway, I went from having nearly a dozen Indian restaurants within a mile of where I lived to this being the closest (about a 20 minute drive). I'd consider this meal better than the restaurants I used to live near and was well worth the ride. My first and definitely not my last meal here. A+, 5 stars, 10/10. read more

I literally don't know what I would do without this restaurant. I wearily moved from NYC where there was every ethnic delivery option under the sun to Long Beach, where .. well.. pizza and Chinese basically reign supreme. Tandoor Grill satisfies my Indian food craving PERFECTLY. Food is fantastic and delivery is always quick. Have taken multiple visiting NYC friends to their restaurant (BYOB - heck yes!) and have had such lovely experiences. I can't speak high enough of how much I love this place. Love it!! Ordered delivery tonight as we were all craving Indian food (through Seamless). Delivery was prompt and the service was great. Not terrible but just disappointing. I have eaten in about 60 indian restaurants and about 35 of them in NY, so I consider myself a individual who knows the difference between good, bad, and bland. Pros: very nice staff and happy to accommodate level of spiciness and taste. Place is very clean. Everyone speaks perfect English. Cons: Manchurian Gobi had little to no flavor. Papadons do not taste authentic at all and you feel like your eating oil bc that's all you taste , even though they are not oily themselves. Aloo Gobi was pretty much bland. Chana masala was just OK Chicken Tikka was overdone and kind of mushy. Breads had no taste whatsoever. I was here once before and the food was pretty good. So I don't know what happened. I used to order from here all the time and the food used to be so good. I ordered today and the food was so bad, the chicken Vindaloo tasted like tomato sauce with pepper and the gobi Manchuria wasn't crispy at all, no sauce and the taste was so blant. The food (lamb vindaloo, chicken korma, mushroom saag) was excellent and the BYOB policy is fine since you can buy alcohol across the street. A friend knows the owner and says he makes everything from the bottom up- "no powders".One word of warning though, I typically order "five stars" when it comes to hot food, but the vindaloo while delicious was like 6 stars and had me in pain, sweating and grabbing for water, beer and bread. I'm a huge fan of this place for both in house dining and take out (I'm more of a take out). I like spicy and I usually get the medium or spicy options which are both just right and as described. Hands down I've ordered a number of appetizers (samosas are always my favorite) and dishes (I really favor their vegetarian options - they do a great job - esp the spinach with potato or potato with spices). I've also tasted their mango lassi (normally don't love) which is out of this world as is their naan and basmati rice with chicken (very large portion). If you like a meat option, butter chicken is always the way to go. I've never hand anything bad at this restaurant - actually everything has been very good (and I eat a lot of indian food). For the price , you get a meal that you can eat from 2-3 times (example: spinach potato dish is $12, generous and comes with rice). The take out time is very quick (Yelp says 1 hours, it's always about 10-15 min) and they always give coupons on the menu. The staff is very very nice and always aims to please the customer. Even if you put in a late night order right before closing, they have no problem. Great price, great food, great service, excellent staff - what more could you want. Highly recommended. read more

Honestly this restaurant was on my list to try since it's sister restaurant (color of spices) at RVC left such a good impression on us... however the food was barely chewable, it was horrible chicken tikka masala, it was so dry we could not eat it, the sauce was so sweet, lamb saag was so dry and the rogan gosh was over cooked :( the Mango laci tasted like a heavy yogurt drink.. and lastly the coconut yellow rice was topped with Parmesan cheese & had a strange taste to it, we were so confused. we will never go again, left such a bad taste in our mouth & we are unclear how it has 4.5 stars on yelp, seems like a mistake. read more

So glad I finally had a chance to stop in here. Absolute must visit and a welcome departure from all the new American cuisine in the area. Excellent, authentic food, attentive service and a warm ambiance. For sure treat yourself to some naan (we went garlic): fresh, crispy outside and a nice chewiness to the dough on the inside. If only I had a tandoori oven at home :P... Went with chicken tikka masala (sic?) and one of the lamb kebobs. Had a good chuckle with the waiter when I went with the spiciest sauce (is not my first rodeo). Had a really nice flavor and a decent amount of kick. But for novices, take the house's advice and start with medium sauce and layer in the heat if you are feeling adventurous. read more
