Prices have increased over the years understandably and their portion sizes are now blown out of proportion, actually too big. The best Indian food-- no-- THE BEST FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD. The service is great, they are very attentive to their customers and are always so kind and tender. The ambiance is impeccable. The decoration is beautiful and very clean inside, and the beautiful plating makes it that much better. We sat as a table of 3, ordered 2 dinner items, raita, and nan, along with samosas and pakora to start, and still had enough for all of us to take home leftovers. Serving sizes are PERFECT. Pricing is perfectly fine because I would honestly pay anything for this food. My family and I have been ordering here for years-- we tried other Indian food restaurants and nothing beats Tandoor India. Every meal is somehow better than the last. Approaching this restaurant in the evening, it was dark and it felt like an abandoned mall. We were a bit skeptical, but were hungry and took the plunge and went it. Not many people were there and the restaurant had their Uber and DoorDash tables ready to go. There was one other family sitting there that had food and seemed to be happy. We were promptly seated and noticed a number of the people working there in the back did not wear shoes. Getting more legit... Decor was nice and dark. I had tomato soup, chicken vindaloo, roti and daal makhani. Others had chicken tikka and naan. The daal makhani was not was I was used to and felt like a mix of makhani and tadka. All the food was tasty and the service was very friendly. It was a solid place, but not something I'd travel to. If I lived in the area, I'd go more often. The bathroom..... This is where I had to take off a star. The men's room looks like they just didn't want to spend money to maintain it or keep it clean. There was clear patchwork on the walls that was poorly painted over to cover up the damage. I didn't feel clean coming out of it. Service was great. Remember to tip well. read more

So glad this moved to Towne Center in Oakhurst! My husband and I were able to walk to dinner over the weekend and will definitely be doing it again soon! The service was great, the food was DELICIOUS, and the owner is the sweetest guy ever. He chatted with us for a while and is so excited about his new location - and so are we! We ordered Saag Paneer, Lamb Vindaloo, Butter Chicken, and Naan -- and nothing disappointed. We will be back again for sure! This place needs to be recognized!! The service was great; and extremely friendly. Told me a story how they've been in business for 30 years; and it really shows. I had the butter chicken, and it was so mouthwatering and perfect that I can't get over the flavors. What a hidden gem this is. The place it's located in is a little rough, and the ambiance is a little old: it's a mix of old and new, and maybe could use some updating. But honestly, the food kind of made up for that. My recommendation: the chicken makhani, medium with Nan. It's to die for. Price wise, that set me back about 30$, but the portions were deceptively big. 5/5. read more

Great taste and friendly accommodating service! They increased their signage to improve visibility of the entrance. The sauces for Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Shahi Kurma were very flavorful! Spice level was perfect for us. The meat was tender and juicy. Garlic naan was perfectly fluffy and soft with a little bit of crisp. Only thing that could've gotten this a 5 star would've been if the chicken carried more flavor itself outside of the sauce. My family has been getting great takeout from this restaurant since we bought our home, in Eatontown, 32 years ago. As we understand it that was the same year this restaurant opened and the same family has run it all these years. I want to congratulate them on surviving the pandemic and thank them for the meals we had in the restaurant and the countless take out meals we ate at home. All delicious since 1991. The staff always asks what spice level we want the food at whether we eat it there or as take out. They are very good at sorting out that my son learned to eat food at mouth numbing levels while attending college, my daughter wants everything medium hot and I and my husband now prefer our food a flavorful mild. Our children joyfully ate it as toddlers (mildly medium spiced at the time) when we were trying to expand their palates. Sweet lassis were gulped if they got a hotter bite but they always dug back into their food portions until it was gone. Tonight my hubby and I ordered old favorites which are Lamb Moglai and Karahi Lamb. Plentiful tender lamb in both entrees. I tried to take pictures of both entrees but my husband dumped his pint of Karahi Lamb over his full container of Basmati rice, tore his Garlic Naan into pieces and dug in. It is all gone except one quarter of his garlic naan and he says he is Thanksgiving full and went off to fall asleep in his recliner as a happy man. I am posting a picture of my Lamb Moglai after I also dumped my pint on top my full container of Basmati rice but I have to admit I took many bites of the fragrant lamb and rice before I forced myself to stop and take the picture. Heck can anyone really not eat good takeout immediately in the privacy of their home? So just know there is less in the picture then what was picked up from the restaurant! I am also posting a picture of the Tandori Paratha but none of my sweet lassi because, as delicious as it is, it looked like a plain glass of milk when I focused my iphone down into the take out cup. Succulent lamb in the creamy, almond flavored sauce. The smell of Basmati rice wafting around our den and oh the very yummy parathra that I can use to scoop up mouthfuls of it all. 32 years this restaurant has made my home feel like a short visit to India! read more

Poor experience, the chicken tikka masala looked great but tasted horrible. It had a burnt/Smokey flavor I've never experienced in the dish so it must have been an accident. The naan was soft but it reminded me more of dense afghan bread instead of flakey and soft naan. The chicken biriyani was over cooked and under seasoned. Honestly the food is the least flavorful Indian food I've ever had. Easily been to over 20 Indian restaurants. The speaker was playing music and cutting in and out throughout the meal and the whole staff seems to not notice or be annoyed by it oddly enough. The staff was friendly although a little bit awkward. Not sure how the average rating is 4/5 stars. I got here an hour before closing so perhaps they put less effort in but that's no excuse, an hour before closing isn't that late. I ordered the palak Chana vegan, as well as the yellow dal, and the masala dosa. The masala was also flavorless and the outer rice park didn't taste the best, it also came with no sauces which is abnormal. Even more beings it clearly is lacking in flavor! If you're in the area I suggest trying out another place. Hate leaving bad reviews but am very disappointed as I make way better dal and have made it one time, and it was a simplified version! read more

The first time we had dinner at Tandoor India we were asked "how hot" did we want the food to be: mild, medium or hot." Being long time lovers of Indian cuisine and having dinner with Indian friends at many of the restaurants they suggested, we always asked our main course to be of medium spicy heat. Wrong answer at this restaurant. We spent that evening with tears rolling down our face and drinking mango lassi to stem the heat. I suggest to please say mild, mild, and mild again unless you really like it hot. The food here is of the highest quality... beautifully presented by a chef who is at the top of his form. The Indian decor and music adds to the pleasure of the meal. We always order their saag paneer ( creamed spinach) different lamb and or chicken dishes with either curry or cream or tomato base, and always an order of Indian bread either plain or with onions or garlic. Rice is always part of the meal. We finish our meal with a wonderful mango lassi. So good This is the only Indian restaurant we have visited in this area.
