Pho 99 is a no frills Vietnamese restaurant in the Eatontown/Jersey Shore area. I come here periodically since it's so close to my workplace - the prices are reasonable, the restaurant is clean, and their food brings comfort to the soul. Service is very quick - I've never had to wait for orders placed online and the food never takes more than 15 mins to come out. Their menu size is decent and has all the basic Vietnamese dishes. We tried the Bun Bo He 500 (noodle soup) and we were pretty impressed. The portion was generous and flavor was good. (Sliced Rare Beef, Oxtail, Flank, Brisket, Beef Tendon, Meatball & Pork Patties). It's a thicker noodle than the Pho noodle. Bun grilled pork and spring roll 503 however was not as impressive. It was ok. But overall this is a decent place for Vietnamese food down the shore if you want something different. The servers were nice though I don't think they were that attentive though it seemed like they were a little bit short staffed. The decor is pretty nice for a Vietnamese restaurant. Came here for lunch during the weekend and it was decent. I liked their menu pho - the broth was tasty and good. Their rice and grilled pork was okay, but I've tasted better seasoning in the pork slice. The pork served was an also a bit too fatty for my liking. Parking was no issue as the lost is shared with other businesses. Service was friendly and you can definitely tell it's a family business as they have young teens/kids cleaning up the table. We came here for an early dinner and were immediately seated after arriving. I've been wanting to come here for a while. We ordered the following: Shrimp summer rolls with mixed fish sauce instead of peanut sauce. We liked it a lot. The summer rolls were nice and soft, which is preferable but some places serve it hard. It's probably hard because it was refrigerated and not warmed up. Daughter had Shaking Beef Cubed and liked it but thought it was a little overdone. She usually orders this wherever she goes after discovering this in LA. Next, hubs ordered Build Your Own Pho and you can choose up to 3 toppings. He opted for sliced rare beef, beef tendon and fried tofu. It comes with rice noodles and beef broth. The rare beef was served raw and frozen on a plate. It stayed looking raw after leaving in the hot broth for a minute or 2 but hubs said it was cooked. He liked it but I wouldn't try it because it looked off-putting . Lastly, I had Vegetarian Vermicelli, which has vegetarian spring roll, fried tofu & vegetables. It's served with noodle, lettuce, pickled carrots, cucumber, and mixed fish sauce. You can add egg noodles instead of vermicelli for an extra $1. I liked it and never had a vegetarian format of this. It's usually with meat. It was pretty good and I felt healthy after eating this. I also had a lychee drink. This is my usual drink to have whenever I declde to splurge. It's delicious as usual. Service was quick and friendly. Will return to try other items on the menu read more

It took a long time for the appetizers to come out; Almost immediately afterwards, the main dishes were served. When I bit into the shrimp, all I tasted was oil. Too much breading; not enough shrimp. The spicy/sweet wings were just OK. The vermicelli was over cooked and flavorless. It became barely edible when I all of the dipping sauce on it. Several of the short ribs were almost entirely fat, rather than meat. The cucumbers/salad was refreshing. After we were served, the waitress sat down with almost all of the staff and ate. We waited and waited and she kept eating. In fact, I wrote this review while waiting. I was going to rate this place 3 stars because the food was passable, however, with the waitress enjoying a leisurely meal before returning, I have to rate it a two. Finally the host came over and asked if we wanted anything else, while the waitress continued to sit and eat. The host bought the check which had scan to pay. When I scanned it, i had been double charged for a soda. The waitress finally showed up to ask if we wanted a bag When we described the check discrepancy, she said she would reprint it and if the scan to pay didn't work, I could come up to the register to pay. It should be noted, there were only 2 tables occupied including ours; there was no reason for the slow service. The environment was bright and sterile. read more

Their delivery driver is terrible. Didn't ring the doorbell...just left the diinner out front and left. After 25 miniutes when we finally realized it was there and opened it, it was the wrong order. The dleivery driver left someone else's meal at our door and delivered our meal to someone else. Our order was much larger so we definatley go the short end of the stick. Their food is good buy you should definately think twice about ordering take out from these guys....use HEN restuartant in Neptune instead, they home delivery is much more reliable. read more

I ordered the vegetarian pho and my partner got the seafood pho, which is made with beef broth. The vegetarian pho broth was very sweet, unlike the beef broth. The beef broth was also a bit lukewarm. We were visiting my niece in Asbury Park, and it has been raining all day, and we all thought that Pho would be a good idea. But our excitement turned to disappointment. It started when they brought the condiments. No Thai Sweet Basil, no cilantro and lemon instead of lime. We have to ask for cilantro. Appetizers: Spring Rolls - great and still hot, but only 2 per order. Green Papaya Salad - missing the authentic flavor. The sauce is the same as the spring roll dip. Chicken Wings - Excellent! and good portion. Pho - the broth is very basic. It is lacking depth, very bland. Added a lot of Sriracha and Hoisin sauce. Bun Bo Hue - my niece really enjoyed hers and said broth is delicious. Lemongrass Pork Chops - the pork chop is very dry and tough. Service: non-existent. Food was delicious with no complaints. Great portions, only thing that was disappointing was there was no mint available. Service could be better. We ordered four milk teas. Only one of us requested bubbles. They were automatically added to all drinks and charged for them. Also, no one came over to check in on us for water refills or if the meal turned out alright, despite it not being busy. This is a great spot for Vietnamese food if you're around Eatontown. The pho broth was flavorful and the Bahn Mi had well seasoned meat, fresh veggies, good sauce, and crisp bread. Loaded with cucumbers cilantro and shredded carrots the bahn mi was fantastic. The app I had I can't even begin to describe other than soft, tasty and delicious with some kind of meat and the most pillowy texture, wowza, not a light dish though! I managed to put the two together in the end and loaded it up with the appetizer sauce of a sweet vinegar and carrot shreds and omg am I full. Can't want to return to try more! I've been here a couple of times for Pho during business day lunches. Love that the menu is clearly labeled for folks who are gluten free or vegetarian. The pho is a huge portion and comes with a side of sprouts, jalapeños, Thai basil, and lime. Sauces and cutlery are in the center of the table. You can order a premade pho or build your own. Wait staff is attentive and helpful. This is not a fancy place, seating is cafeteria style, though the servers to take orders at the table, then they bring orders out on a three- shelved wheeled cart. Came here for a late lunch and had the grilled pork bahn mi. I was nervous because I'm spoiled by NYC bahn mi @Saiguette. This bahn mi was excellent, starting with the fresh bread which was crispy on outside and soft on the inside. It was loaded with grilled pork and delicious. In short: check your bill when using the barcode. The paper copy had a different price. Egg shells in rice, extremely fatty meat, bland flavors. Poor service. A friend recommended this place so I thought I would give it a try. The ambiance feels like it's a converted nail salon. But I didn't let that deter me. I sat, ordered and waited about 15 mins for my appetizers. The shrimp were more breading than shrimp, and my veggie egg rolls were simultaneously bland and over peppered. I don't know how that is possible. I will say I did not use the fish sauce that came with it. For my main I ordered the beef ribs and upcharged for the fried rice. The beef ribs were sweeter than I'd normally like but they weren't terrible. My problem with them was that 2 of the 5 were almost all fat. If you like that then great. I don't like to eat straight fat. My fried rice could have been seasoned a bit more but the real problem was the egg shells. I feel like the chef got lazy with leaving egg shells in the rice and not checking the ribs. I probably will not visit again. Also the entire time I've been writing this review I have been waiting for our waitress to come back so we can pay and leave. The entire staff is currently having what appears to be a lunch break. They are all, minus one who just got up to take a to go order, are sitting and eating. When we finally got our bill, it has a scan to pay bar code. The barcode bill was a different price, they had charged for more than one drink and we only had one. So check your bill before you pay. read more

I ordered it online and when it got delivered they also didn't include ANY veggies, sauce etc... no beansprouts, no nothing. I still ate it, expecting for it to still be good. I actually feel bad writing this, it tasted ...decent but smelled like dog food. Idk if it was just a bad day or what (tbf it was late night but should that matter?). And it wasn't that much food, but that was almost a good thing considering how bad it was. Doing 2 stars to increase legitimacy but this is actually a 1 star or 0 if I could. Do better. Very solid pho spot. The broth is a little bit salty but has great flavor. FYI - don't get the veggie pho as they use a different broth and doesn't have quite the same flavor (unless of course you have a strict veggie diet). I would just get the regular pho and add veggies to it if you can. My brother got the shaking beef dish and it was great. And I mean very generous-- I felt like I was eating out of Mary Poppins' bag...if it was a bowl of pho.
