Cant believe I never wrote a review for this restaurant!! This is my favorite, go to for Indian food. I usually only come here for the buffet and I have never been disappointed by it. The food is always hot and constantly being made. The flavors are amazing and they have veggie options as well. They have a salad section as well as a dessert station as well. I never seen it be busy, it has good customer service and is very clean. That rice is so fluffy I would eat that everyday, my favorite dish after that is probably the chicken tikka masala. Then the tandori chicken is finger-licking good paired with some of their nan bread. The spice level is not crazy like other places so I think why so many people come here as well, because its a nice balance on flavor and spice. Like I mentioned before, I only been here for the buffet but I am sure their regular dinner services by the plate are just as delicious. How lucky am I to live close to Tandoor? An Arlington staple for what, 40 years now? I'm not exactly sure when they opened but I'm pretty positive it was the mid 80s... They're known for their absolutely fantastic lunch and dinner buffet with prices that are hard to beat, especially in this economy! I don't eat there in person often, but it's one of our top go-to spots for takeout/delivery. I swear it's just as good delivered to your doorstep as it is at the restaurant itself. They really know how to securely pack up a to-go order, I'll tell you that. I know we don't live far away, but still. It always arrives piping hot. Besides the obvious and ever-beloved chicken tikka masala (insanely good), I'm a big fan of their Mulligatawny Mughlai Soup (lentil soup with rice and chicken). It's super savory with a little lemony brightness. Ultra comfort food! We're also big fans of their veggie biryani: super fragrant basmati rice all dolled up with fresh veggies, paneer, raisins, and almonds. We also love their Bombay potatoes (spicy potatoes with mustard seed) and their Chana Masala Punjabi: spicy chick peas, potatoes, and onions in a tomato and onion gravy. We have a new favorite that we will be craving now! This place is a gem for sure. The restaurant is cozy and the staff is friendly and welcoming. We went at dinner and chose a few items on the menu to get a sampling of what they have. I've had Korma before but I've never had one as tasty as this one. The "Shahi" in the title of the dish is there for a reason. It really tastes like royalty! Everything we ate tasted great and was a good quality! And every time I cut a piece of my meat, it it was so tender, and fell apart. Perfection. This restaurant is worth driving out to. This is some of the best food I've eaten in a long time. read more

Still, one of my favorite northern Indian restaurants, the buffet is my favorite. I love that they have tiny samosas on the buffet. I love their Saag paneer. They always have a stack of hot naan straight off the tandoor. You can never go wrong. They have such an amazing decor with beautiful decorations from India. And it is always great service. If anything is rolling low on the buffet if you just ask, they will whisk out new stuff. Please come and enjoy. read more

We just happened to be out this side of town and decided we wanted to try a new place. We more or less figured what we wanted to eat and picked a place with good reviews at random. I have to say, I absolutely love this type of food and usually it is so Americanized or bland that you get spice with no flavor. This is NOT the same old food! This is Amazing! Every single bite was bursting with flavor and you can just taste the quality in every bite. My wife doesn't like any form of spice. Her dish came out very spicy. We mentioned it to the staff and they took it and replaced it with a no spice version very quickly. The staff was very kind and helpful. Not a ton of people when we came in about 6pm but it started to fill up a little when we left about 7pm. Lovely place with a very peaceful vibe. read more

I found this place rated high on Trip Advisor and wanted to try it for myself. They had plenty of staff to serve. The one young lady they have working for them is a gem. The other guys are ok, but very quiet which may come off as not hospitable. One brought me the receipt to sign and didn't say anything. No thank you or anything. I ordered the shrimp saag and some naan. The food was pretty awesome. The rice was very aromatic, moist and outstanding. I enjoyed every bite. I enjoyed watching the cook through the window while he prepares the food. I might try their lunch buffet one day. I will definitely be back for more. read more

Yum yum YUM! I never know what I'm eating when I come here but everything is very very DELICIOUS!! It's buffet style so when you walk in, you seat yourself, your drink order is taken and you walk to the front to get what you want. We had the lunch buffet and it was a great deal! It had separate vegetarian and meat. They make the naan fresh in a tandoor and you can watch them make it. I enjoyed the vegetarian kofta and the chicken shami kabob. They are halal which is great! read more

I went today with a good friend of mine and we enjoyed our experience. We got sat and when we ordered our waitress was very helpful in us picking our food. We tried the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Beef Madras curry. The server recommended we also get the garlic naan which paired so well with our food. They offer a lunch buffet for $12.99 and the food is fresh and hot! The buffet offered Tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, Dahl with spinach, chickpea curry and much more! Since my original review I have moved within walking distance, and I am SO HAPPY to live so close to this place. Still an exceptional dining experience, and the lunch buffet is still my favorite. The primary thing that's changed in the intervening years is the price - the lunch buffet is no longer $8, alas, but it's still a great deal and you'll get an incredible plate of delicious food for your trouble. Additionally, the lunch crowd hasn't quite rebounded, post-COVID, which means you can get a table pretty easily, even well into lunch hours. Lamb curry, rice, naan - Delicious! I arrived around 12:30. The place was hoping with patrons. Always a good sign. They have a lunch buffet. I think I read Thursday- Sunday 11:30-2:30. I looked it over. It looked fresh, clean and it was popular with the customers. I prefer to order from the menu. I don't eat a full plate and I like to take home my leftovers for later (if they're good). These are great! Can't wait until I'm hungry again. The staff is very attentive. I may have slowed them down a bit because I wanted to read the entire menu. They came to my table twice to take my order before I actually ordered. Satvik and Sanjy were very friendly and attentive! Highly recommend--this place compares well to the restaurants in Plano or Houston. They worked with me to make sure dishes didn't have dairy and advise me on vegan choices.
