Not pretentious and all about flavor! We hear that this place was yummy and I'm so glad we finally gave it a try. The Dahl soup was a thing broth full of flavor. Drew enjoyed tandoori chicken and I had the apricot, coconut curry with lamb. Both were incredible but I liked mine best. Next time I would order the hot instead of medium as mine was very rich and could handle a bit more heat. Loved the rice which was seasoned with herbs. Service was quick without being pushy. Atmosphere was 'authentic'. So basically you aren't coming here for atmosphere as much as you want delicious food. I've always thought of myself as an adventurous food eater, so I thought I'd give this restaurant a try. Instead of getting a typical Indian dish, I ordered the Rasila lamb dish. The vegetables were cooked just enough so that it was still flavorful, yet wasn't overpowering. The staff was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Good little place for a variety of Indian options. My travel companion had never had Indian food. My husband doesn't like Indian food. I love Indian food. So, a work trip seemed like the perfect opportunity to find a good Indian place. Some research suggested this as the better option to take a new-to-Indian food person, so I picked here. There were a lot of nice options, both spicy and not. I can be a picky eater, and it's rare to have so many options I need to decide between. But this place had it. The food was wonderful, and the spicy level was great. The naan was also great. I wouldn't hesitate to make another trip here next time I'm in town. read more

They didn't have a great selection of meat dishes on the lunch buffet. There were a lot of different vegetable dishes though. What they did have was very good. Some of the best saag paneer I've ever had. The prices were low, especially considering the quality ingredients. $10 for adult buffet, $5 for my older kids (ages 9 and 13), and $3 for my 7 year old). I have lived in Boulder for over twenty years and have been to every Indian place in town, tandoori has the best overall food hands down. I regularly go out of my way for their food because it's well worth it. A little on the pricier side in town for dinner but they have a great lunch buffet that's very reasonable! While I don't get out of Boulder for meals all that often, there was a time I used to visit Denver more frequently (biting my lip here so as not to offend). So I tried quite a number of Indian restaurants there as well (tried one in LoDo just recently too, but it was vastly overrated). And you know, Tandoori is still my pick of all the Indian joints I've been to in this state. When they're on their A-game, it's some of the most aromatic, flavorful, and just plain delicious food I've had (it's probably my favorite cuisine, if forced to choose). And while they do have an off night here or there when things are less flavorful than usual, that's not very often. As soon as you open the door, your nostrils are happily assaulted with the heady aromas of cardamom, coriander, cumin, and all those other drool-inducing spices. I always liked visiting my Indian friends' homes in college, because that smell so thoroughly permeates the kitchen and surrounding rooms. Intoxicating almost. Let's start with appetizers...how about dal soup? Chanadal cooked just right (not mushy), bright spices, nice punch of cilantro. I've had examples that were a busy mess of random ingredients, but this is a simple, focused, and very delightful rendition. Or perhaps some finger food like the onion bhaji? Best I've ever had...the coating is superb in both texture and flavor, and is the make-or-break aspect to this appy. I don't even really like onion rings (similar concept but so much less satisfying!), but these things are irresistable. On to the main courses. Saag is one of my favorites, and here's a huge irony for you...I loathe broccoli, and strongly dislike cauliflower. Their odors are extremely offensive to my nostrils for some reason. Kryptonite for me. Tandoori's saag is the best I've ever had (from lamb and chicken saag to channa and aloo saag), and yet the menu claims it's made not only with spinach but broccoli and cauliflower as well. How can this be?! I don't know, but it doesn't stop me from ordering it virtually every time I go. So many herbs and spices that all seem to work together, creamy but not too much so, just unbelievably delicious. But if saag's not your thing, there's much more...decadently rich creamy-nutty korma, fiery vinadaloo, etc. Just about everything they do, they do really well. Pleasant waitstaff, generally, though rarely chatty (just how I like it, to be honest..."can't talk, eating."). Rarely is there a wait for a table (probably only had to wait once or twice in all the times I've gone). And as far as prices go, they're moderate for the genre; not cheap and not overpriced. VERY fair given the quality. They could charge 50% more and I'd still go. Oh, there is a small outdoor patio (to the left of the entrance as you go in), but there's not much to look at (on the east side of the building, so enjoy the parking lot views) and you don't get to bask in the aromas inside. Perfection? No, perhaps I will not go that far, but I'm a huge complainer and I never seem to find anything to complain about here. Been coming here for 5 or 6 years and it's always this good. Hope it stays that way. So yes, five stars without reservation. read more

For what we paid for two vegetarian take-out orders tonight, my family would have preferred frozen Amy's Indian entrees. Our watery and bland meals make me think most of these 4- and 5-star reviewers have never had any better Indian food. Best North Indian food I've had in Boulder. Bengan Bartha (my favorite) was just right - subtle, complex, not too sweet. Vindaloo is solid but not special. Our naan wasn't too fresh, and slightly overcooked. The chai is excellent. Not a great location in the bottom of a shopping center looking out on a parking lot...but come for the food. read more

We eloped to Colorado Feb 2017 and stayed a few nights in Boulder before heading up to Estes Park. The B&B owner recommended this place and they were fantastic! We had not had Indian in ages and felt adventurous but still went with familiar safe bets and were not disappointed. The garlic naan was so great and wasn't soggy from the delivery. read more

Oh, how I love this place! The curries are all super tasty (my favorite is the lamb saliboti or chicken masala), the chicken and lamb tandoori are both amazing. The rice is made with all kinds of spices and tastes super creamy. The dahl is perfect - super flavorful. They will also make your curries as spicy or not spicy as you like. Once I was there with a friend who can handle any level of heat in his food, and he left completely satisfied (the waiter said that they have the "Indian hot" option for those who prefer the extra spicy). Their food is quite tasty though once we made the mistake of sitting outside and though the food was great, everything else was gross. The outside area was dirty, the plastic cups that came out (for water) were dirty, the plates were dirty we had to ask for new ones and the tables were gross. If you're going to eat here, eat inside or order take out. We love the chana masala, their okra dish, and minced lamb. I also like their mango lassi. The service here isn't great and they almost seem upset that you've come to their restaurant. We do like the food so occasionally we get take out from them. read more

Tandoori grill is delicious, and if you're there in person, the service is fantastic. However, their takeout, while still delicious, leaves something to be desired. Each of my last few orders has been blatantly wrong in some way - plain naan when I ordered garlic, or, like, today, no lamb in my lamb masala. (i received a large takeout container of just sauce. Fun!) I'm not sure what's going on back in their kitchen that's botching their takeout orders time and time again, but I sure wish it'd stop. The food is great, but if they don't get their act together, I'm going to start going somewhere else with my takeout business. read more

This is a really great Indian food restaurant. We go for lunch and dinner, so we've tried buffet and ordering from the menu. I love to get the chicken tikka and some masala sauce to go with it. The naan is fabulous! The price is a little bit high but you get quality food for that price so its not that big of a deal. The staff is always accommodating but never really too friendly. Don't get me wrong though, they are always nice. There is never a wait and there are always people in there. It is because the food rocks. To clarify on the outdoor seating... It was there before and now its not. Maybe for winter or something I don't know, but now it's doubling as a storage place. read more

I had their chili tandoori chicken, lamb karahi curry, garlic naan and the bhindi something.. the okra dish. Everything was delish but my favorite was the tandoori. Every time I go to Tandoori Grill, my belly is smiling and I am very full. So full, in fact, I have to take a walk to the park across the street in order to be able to drive home to Golden without falling asleep at the wheel. The first time I went, we ordered the chili paneer, saag paneer, kofta masala, and the vegetable briyani, along with a couple orders of naan bread. I have nothing bad to say about any of these dishes, as they were all wonderful and tasty! My favorite was the kofta masala, it was rich and flavorful and came in a huge portion. Last night when I went again I got the vegetable masala, and it was just as good as I remembered it being. My date got a lamb dish and said it was very good as well. Their wine selection leaves a bit to be desired, but they have daily happy hours with bottled beers that cost $2-3. I definitely recommend Tandoori Grill to anyone, vegetarian or otherwise! read more

Probably some of the best Indian food I've ever had and I'm pretty picky about heavy spices in my food. I've been to this restaurant countless times and I will keep going back. For an appetizer I would recommend the vegetable samosas, for an entree the palak paneer and for dessert the rice pudding. I'm not a big fan of buffets, but for the lunch hour I would actually recommend their buffet to try an array of their food choices. Great food. Good service. Pleasant atmosphere. Decent price. The food is good, the problem is the money, it's over priced. If you order stuff to go without the rice the price is the same so they give you shrimp with water in a small plastic container for $15. total rip-off.
