I had an amazing time at Tandoori Grill two weeks back! After working a wet and rainy shift for Bolder Boulder, I needed something warm and filling. I've been to tandoori kitchen in Lafayette but this place was a great nearby choice! Right in a big plaza, easy parking and access. Staff was friendly and greeted me well. I went on a Saturday, and to my delight there was a Jazz Singer group there! They added so much ambience and charm to the meal. She plays every other Saturday so try and see them! A mango Lassi was excellent to sooth my sore throat from talking all day. I got the classic Paneer Tiki Masala, with a Garlic naan on the side. Flavors were all there and naan was warm and soft. Rice was cooked well and compliments the sauce well. Overall, an excellent stop in Boulder and hope to be back soon! read more

I always order takeout and it never disappoints. Tandoori is just a great go-to spot for Indian in Boulder. It's always ready in a reasonable amount of time and it's not a bad price. I've gotten many things from them over the years, all vegetarian dishes and it's always solid! I usually get medium veggie masala and hot aloo ghobi, but I only recommend hot if you can tolerate spicy foods. Their medium is usually a good amount of spice, but won't burn off your taste buds. Their veggie samosas are consistently good. And my favorite is their chana saag. Everyone has their bad days, but I'd say Tandoori is a safe bet. Some restaurants are inconsistent especially when it comes to take out, but not so with Tandoori! I've never had a bad experience here. It was bustling when we got there on a Friday night but they got our orders in quickly and food came out quick as well. They made sure water was topped off and check on is often. We came here for dinner and the garlic naan smelled/tasted like it had oven cleaner on it. That can poison people! It was very mediocre the other food had a weird smell also. A great and flavorful meal from the Tandoori Grill. I ordered the shrimp jalfrezi and loved the vegetables in the mix. Potatoes and sweet potatoes with other veggies as well. Amd the number of shrimps was plentiful. This was a new dish for me and I would get it again. My husband ordered the lamb curry and, it was savory and satisfying. Excellent meal and service. We were the only people on Thursday evening at 5:30pm but the restaurant slowly filled up so don't be put off. As a Brit, I love me some Indian food and have been trying different Indian restaurants in the area. This one is currently in top position. 4 of us ordered Chicken Malai Kabob, Lamb Boti, Butter chicken (medium, a little surprisingly spicy for my American friends but I'd say spot on in terms of medium), Channa Masala, Keema Naan and Garlic Naan. Ended up at the bar next door when we caught the restaurant a little too late for dinner. It was a little after 9 on a Friday, and we were blown away by the dining experience we ended up having! First off, I LOVE this bar - Boulder needs more places like it - and more paintings of Prince! The IPA was cold and extra delicious and the bar was happening. We ordered Tandoori Chicken Chili Style, and it was one of the best dishes I've EVER had. The chili sauce is incredible and the chicken legs and thighs were cooked perfectly. We also ordered Saag Paneer, hot, and this was also EXCEPTIONAL. The butter naan was delicious, the rice was great, and the late night atmosphere was wonderful. Just alright as Indian restaurants go. Had the veggie korma, which was okay - not great. I found the naan bread kind of greasy and later heard other patrons order it with no butter but frankly had never seen it served as though it got a quick layer of oil on the way out of the kitchen. I wish I could say better things given all the rave reviews that got us here and the fact that the service was very fast and attentive. But it was not a good food experience. We walked in and the place smelled heavily of burnt something to the point where we almost left. Then the naan came and that explained it - it was very burnt and I'm surprised they served it. Never in all my dining experiences have I had something like what happened at the Tandoori Grill. We came here with friends after a movie and were really looking forward to Indian food. Our friends gave this place high praises. We ordered two orders of garlic naan. It quickly came to the table and we dug in. Just as quickly, the runner came back to the table and grabbed the basket. Before we had a chance to ask what was happening, she reached in to the basket, grabbed four slices of naan and THEN told us she had accidentally brought us three orders not two. She then dropped the naan on the floor, picked it up and put it in another full basket of naan she had been holding. Our friend told her she couldn't do that. Her response? It's all going in the trash. What the what? Rather than give us the extra naan which is pennies on the dollar, she grabbed food off our table just to throw it away. Our server came to get our order to which we asked for the bill instead because we were leaving. She looked appropriately upset and told us the naan was on the house. I used to come here when I lived in South Boulder when this restaurant first opened up. We would come here for a nice hearty lunch or for a hangover cure. I had not been back in awhile but decided to check it out today to see if it was still as I remembered it to be. Lunch buffet is a bit pricey-ten dollars for not many choices. Saag, tandoori chicken, lentils, pakora, chicken curry, and meatballs. I just don't get the meatball deal on Indian buffets. I do not think meatballs are truly an Indian dish, and they seem like the kind you would buy just up the walkway at King Soopers in the frozen food section, but the sauce on them is good. Their food is not as spicy as I would like for my tastes, but one star definitely goes for some of the best tamarind chutney in Colorado. Also, bravo for the fresh naan brought out after you sit down. Service was really lame. The guy working there seemed like it was a bother to seat me and told me to follow a woman around who was refilling people's water glasses and bussing tables. No thank you...so I waited and he finally sat me down. One of the waitresses was wearing ski pants which was annoying with every swish when she walked by. She also had part of her skin showing where her pants were supposed to meet her t-shirt, which to me, is really not appropriate in a restaurant no matter where you are. It is more efficient to get up and walk to pay at the register, then to wait for them to bring you the bill (I had to ask for it...was almost considering dining and dashing but I am not 12 anymore...) and then wait to bring you your credit card back. They have definitely done some work on the ambiance...,more decorations. If I still lived in the 'hood I am sure I would be going here more frequently...but still not a bad choice for a decent lunch outside of downtown Boulder. read more

One review closer to being caught up. :) This was for a pick-up order. Tandoori Grill is nicely located on S Broadway, west of US36, on the SW corner of Broadway and Table Mesa. As such, it was a coin toss for me to bolt down 36, or go the "back way" down 120th and then go north on Broadway. There was no contest as the views down south of Boulder on that road are stunning. Good deal for people in Westminster/Broomfield/Superior like myself. I ordered vegetable pakora for myself, having become a recent fiend, and found them ok, but not crispy and hot like at Nepal Cuisine or Himalayas. I also ordered cheese naan, which, unlike Himalayas, actually had *some* detectable mild cheddar (?) in it - there wasn't really enough to tell, but at least you could see it in there. The menu says cheddar and mozzarella, I can believe that. Pretty soft and tear-apartable for munching...and soaking in the below sauce... I had the extremely delicious mango curry with lamb, and *that* stuff is a treat. It's made with mango puree and mango chutney, along with various Indian spices. It's a few dollars pricier than other curry dishes on the menu, but *so* worth it -- everyone should try it at least once! It goes perfectly with lamb (I feel vaguely sorry for the lambs, as that's what my 1st choice seems to be at Indian-esque places...sorry, I can't help it that you're tasty!!! O_O ), which is what I had. They didn't skimp on the lamb chunks either, there was plenty to be had. The steamed rice was fairly unremarkable but maybe it was long-grain...it was hard to tell. I had phoned in my order so was just there to pick it up; my server was ok but as noted in another review here, seemed to be in robot mode. There weren't any to-go menus to take with, the server said they had to order some more. Meh *shrug* That's what your website is for, I s'pose. They also make various chilis there out of meats, have tandoori items for perusal as well as biryani dishes, and between 15-20 vegetarian dinners that look pretty tasty. The decor was unremarkable and this was the only Indian/Pak/Nepal/Tibet place I'd been to that didn't have some kind of music laced throughout with that Indian drum (tabla? It sounds like a bongo drum) sound. I found I missed it...seemed more "westernized" and less "exotic/escapist" music than the other places I've been recently. Got some pics, too. Will probably be back to sample further, perhaps dining in this time, and also because it's pretty close distance-wise to me. Hopefully dining-in will wow me more than the take-out did -- it was tasty enough, but nothing stood out except the main dish. read more

One of the better places in Boulder to get your Indian-food hook-up, this place has ample parking and space. The ambiance is sort of eh....and I actually remember my chai being watered down a bit.
