I gave this place a second chance, and it still let me down. I ordered HotBits for the first time to go, and this time I went in person thinking the food would be different. Nope. The chicken tikka is slightly sweet and yellow - not typical. While the daal makhani was striking orange, and the lentils were hard. Looking at this picture, you would think the orange dish is chicken tikka but it's daal. Daal is typically brown. Service was slow. The only good part was the naan. The naan was fresh and done great. I went here for the first time as a night out with friends and the service was awful. We got sat and then it took 15 minutes for someone to come take out orders, then another 40 before I even got my food. The service took so long I had to take my food to go. I ordered the chicken curry and rice, and the curry was absolutely awful. Despite having full chicken inside of it, there were also loose bones that I kept having to pick out. I also didn't get my rice that I ordered, and instead I was given something else entirely. Update: This food gave me food poisoning. Wow the food here is...not good. I only came here because my go to Indian places were closed and I regret it. There is no balance of flavors in their food. Just bland, but spicy and in some cases too salty. I never waste food but I threw out everything I ordered and ended up eating a frozen pizza. Their food is that gross. The minute I opened the biryani bowl, it smelled like Shan biryani masala I use when I'm not inclined to make biryani from scratch. Unfortunately they must have used less of the masala than I use bc the rice was severely lacking in flavor. And every other dish was similarly disappointing. Even the raita and plain white rice tasted weird. I knew I should have just waited until my favorite Indian place opened. I'm beyond annoyed I spent my money at Hot Bits. This was some of the worst Indian food I have ever eaten and I'm wasting food and money because the thought of eating any more of it is nauseating. Nice decor in the restaurant though. Be careful when order online from Hotbits! We had ordered the Mixed Grill for delivery. The delivered order was missing one item that was supposed to be part of the Mixed grill. This happened once before too and we didn't care then. This time I called the restaurant and told them about the missing item. They were not even ready to acknowledge that there could be a mistake at the time of packaging. Instead I was told, the chef confirmed the missing item was there in the package. If it was a mistake, how would the chef know or remember, duh??? There was no sign of any tempering by the delivery guy, so it was definitely a mistake at the time of packaging. We all mistakes , but don't just deny it outright and I wasn't even asking for a free meal or something! I made the mistake of not taking a picture when the order was delivered. Tried their chicken biryani and chicken curry for a quick dinner fix. Biryani was good with nice fluffy rice. Amount was good, enough for 2 light eaters. Ratio of rice to chicken was balanced. Not the best biryani in the area but decent option if you are in the neighborhood. Chicken curry was simple, it came with plain jira rice. When I opened it, it was not appetizing at all. Gravy was kind of lumpy and meat pieces were not tender. Not really a dish I'd try again. Place was nice and clean. My order was ready within the said 20-25 mins. Staff member was wearing mask. I've been coming here for a while to get take outs. They now also have a full sit in restaurant, but are not licensed. This is no problem as they allow BYOB, and furthermore do NOT charge corkage (which is a ripoff). Kudos to them for that alone. The food here has always been very good. As I've started to come here to eat in, I also have to say the service is very good. What makes this place special food wise however, is their Nan breads. I've eaten Indian food all over the world, including India itself. The chef makes the Nan texture in a way that I think is near perfect. Come here, bring your favorite tipple, enjoy the food, which is reasonably priced. Hot Bits needs more people to sit in, it's beyond just a takeout place now. Recommend. read more

2 years on and sadly the standards at Hot Bits are slipping. I don't know if the owner or chef has changed but the last 4 or 5 months has seen a significant decline in the quality of the food. We love the Butter Chicken at HotBits but the quality of the dish has declined the last few months. Previously soft moist cubes of chicken are now dry and tasteless. Almost like it's yesterdays chicken being reused. We ordered the chicken tikka tonight for our kids and it arrived stone cold. The rest of the dishes were hot / warm. A sad lack of quality control. Another solid spot for Indian food in Katy! We ordered takeout from HotBits last week and really enjoyed it. We all decided to share the lamb chop masala, lamb korma, and palak paneer. I liked all 3 of them! My favorite would have to be the lamb korma, but I am a bit biased since that's one of my all time favorite foods. The palak paneer had a stronger spinach flavor than some of the other variations I've tried, and it was not overly creamy which I appreciated. The lamb chop masala came with onions & bell peppers which we didn't expect! Our only complaint about this dish was that there was a relatively small amount of lamb included for the price. If you order 1 bread item while you're here, I highly recommend the lachedar paratha. It was buttery, soft, & delicious. Definitely won't ever come by without ordering one of these. The food was pretty good. The amount of food was very little. Portions were tiny. We ordered a goat curry and the entire order came in 1 small pint sized container and it was not even filled tot he top for $16.50!!! We ordered raita and it came in a condiment container. Horrible sizes for extremely expensive prices. We have a extremely large group of passionate Indian food eaters and I have advised against ever ordering from this place. Been at this restaurant a couple of times. My first order was the chicken vindaloo and my second order was the kadhai chicken. Both orders came with a fair helping of rice. But I also ordered a side of naan. The chicken vindaloo was a tomato base dish, which was very spicy. It was flavorful and it went well with the rice. The kadhai chicken was not as good as the vindaloo chicken. It was flavorful but the vegetables could have been cooked more to be tender. The service is good and the restaurant is clean. The average price point was close to $19 with the side. The helpings are fair for this price range. I am looking forward to trying another dish at Hot Bits Katy. read more

Checked out Hot Bits...picked up a pizza. Was able to order a small pizza with 1/2 with Chicken Tikka and 1/2 with Paneer Tikka - both toppings were flavorful but wish there was more of them. We had the opportunity to try out several items from HotBits and let me tell ya, I am thankful I skipped breakfast. Portion sizes are big. We ordered and had delivered Chicken Tikka masala, Chicken Biryani, samosas, Reshmi Kabab and garlic naan! Everything was delicious. I love Biryani and it hit the spot! I started a vegetarian diet on January 1st and was looking for a lunch place. Went to Hot Bits with my daughter even though I didn't have a good experience previously with Indian food but decided to give Hot Bits a try after hearing/reading some reviews. I had the Tikka Masala and my daughter had the Butter Masala lunch special and the food was very tasty. However, because each order is made to order, plan to wait up to 15 minutes for your food. I've heard great things about Hot Bits, but it didn't live up to my expectations. Overall, it was just alright. The Paneer 65 was great, but everything else sort of fell flat. This place is a MUST TRY for Indian food lovers. We ordered a Mixed Grill plate to share (heads up ... requires ~25 minutes prep so order first), Dahl Makhani, Palak Paneer, and Garlic Naan. The ample servings of the veg entrees, and rice along with the naan arrived first, perfectly hot and exquisitely seasoned. The mixed grill plate followed arriving sizzling hot. Tandoori and Tikka chicken pieces along with Boti and Seek lamb kabobs rounded out the meal. The dine in experience was made extra special due to our server, Jordan. He was so kind and helpful. We visited the place reading reviews but to our surprise the food and its quality was not at all good.we ordered a Chinese combo which was okay in taste .chana masala kathi roll had nothing different than chana gravy wrapped in roti..the Dosa we ordered came after ages at our table and that too oil dripping from it. Really good Indian food, may be the best in Katy? I haven't had much Indian food in Katy and coming from Houston, i have pretty high standards. Chicken korma was heavenly, paneer tikka masala was not bad. Lachhedar parantha was awesome - grilled to perfection in tandoor! Reduced 1 star just because the service could have been better. Don't get me wrong, it's not like the servers weren't courteous, just small things here and there like we were not given any serving spoon along with the curries and rice. All in all, a good simple place to hang out for some really good Indian food. Will definitely come again and order take out/delivery as well. Went in to order some food to go and was told they were closed. I got there like 7 minutes before 9pm. An older guy (I'm guessing a manager?) just started arguing with me that if I wanted food I needed to be there much earlier. Didn't even attempt an apology or make anything right. Rude treatment of a (now "former") paying customer aside, it seems to me if your posted closing time is 9:00pm, wouldn't you want to keep doing business until 9:00pm? My husband and I have become regular DoorDash orderers since Covid. We regularly order from 3-4 different Indian Restaurants in the area. We decided to give Hot Bits a try, using DoorDash. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. I did not expect such great flavors from a small, unassuming spot in Katy. I would expect this quality of food in the Houston area. We decided to try something other than our usual Butter Chicken or Tikka Masala and ordered the Chicken 65. It was hands-down the best dish we've ever had. I usually don't order Tandoori chicken, as from my previous experiences from other restaurants, I was underwhelmed. We decided to order it here, as we needed something mild to feed my 2 yr old. It was amazing. Moist and crispy at the same time. The naan was light, soft and warm. We've tried most Indian restaurants in the area...this is the best spot for Indian food in Katy and Richmond. Bizarre and disappointing experience here tonight, apparently they don't need or want your business! While at the grocery store near by, we called to place an order at 8:30 pm. We were on hold for 7 minutes, which is kinda ridiculous for a restaurant, before finally giving up because we have to check out at the grocery store. Call back again, only hold noises. Same after trying a few more times, can't get through to anyone. Still craving Indian food, we decide to go place an order in person. Wife goes in, and no one will take her order. She approached an older man behind the counter, he bluntly says talk to the other guy. "Other guy" is on two phones at once very busy. He hands off one phone to the older guy, and still doesn't acknowledge her. After a minute, she starts to leave when finally she is acknowledged by a younger woman sweeping the floor. The younger woman asks her if she can help, wife asks to order, and the young woman says the are probably closed (posted hours, lights on and door open says otherwise). My wife gives up and comes to the car, and finally the younger guy comes walking out after us as we are leaving. We were fed up with being ignored and hungry at that point, so just got fast food next door. We just moved to a nearby neighborhood from Houston, and we were excited to try this place because we love Indian food, and this place looked good. I understand being busy or "swamped", but there's a difference between that and just flat out ignoring people. You'd think a small business, especially in a pandemic, would be happy to have customers and offer at least the bare minimum of service. Apparently I'm wrong, so won't be returning. Did a carry out order on a Friday night. Was given a 30 minute wait time on the phone. After an hour the food was finally ready. From the flow of orders coming out while I was waiting it seems that they give priority to DoorDash orders. The seating area was not very busy. I've been here twice now and I must say this is the Best Indian Food in Katy. DO NOT be fooled however, Katy has a notoriously bad reputation of Indian restaurants not panning out. As someone who grew up with my parents cooking Indian food, I must say HotBits sort of left me confused. While there Naans are some of the most tender and biggest portion wise that I've seen, the main dishes left me somewhat unimpressed. The chicken tikka masala had just the right amount of heavy cream but seemed to miss the mark with the amount of tomato paste that seemed to be used, could literally taste only that. The chilli paneer however was great, but the color threw me off guard (it's a very bright red color, almost shiny and neon like). Also I ordered the onion kulcha and got stuck with the cheese naan and to be honest as much of a cheese lover I am, I just couldn't take the cheese naan a little to filling for me and the flavors just don't pair well (however this could be because I prefer traditional Indian food and not fusion). Overall, I recommend this place to people looking for a quick Indian fix in Katy! Certainly one of the better Indian restaurants I've had the pleasure of trying in Katy! Recommendations for first timers: Chilli Paneer and garlic naan! Don't be intimidated by the color of the chilli paneer it's actually really good!
