I love Indian food so I was excited to try Tandoori Hut recently. They opened about 3 months ago and are located in the old Swan Inn restaurant. I called ahead to make sure they were open, but they are closed on Tuesdays starting July 2025. I arrived right after 11 am and the front doors were still locked, but someone came and opened them up. The dining room is large and bright, and I was the only customer there the whole time. They have a daily lunch buffet from 11 am-3 pm, so I decided to try that out first. The buffet had tandoori chicken, aloo matar, chicken biryani, chicken curry, eggplant curry, gulub jamun, chicken nuggets, fries, and some salads and sauces. I got a little bit of most things - I loved the aloo matar (potatoes and peas) and the chicken curry, but everything was hot and fresh. I decided to order the matar paneer to try as well - this is one of Nate's favorite dishes, while I usually get butter chicken. The dish was piping hot and served with rice. The sauce was not as thick as I've had before, but it was very flavorful and savory, and the medium spice level was pretty mild for me. I really liked this and would love to try their butter chicken next time. Service was good, but again I was the only person in the restaurant. There was only one employee that I saw tending to the buffet and serving me. Tandoori Hut is pretty far from my house but I'd come back for the buffet. Just North of Grand Rapids is a new Indian Restaurant. The trip is worth it. We came for thee buffet which we really enjoyed. Loved the Naan. Liked both vegetarian and meat dishes. I had been driving by this place for a few weeks while watching all the 5 star reviews add up. Tonight was the night. I had the chicken vindaloo, garlic naan and a couple apps. It was all so good. We're lucky to have Indian cuisine this far out of the city, and the menu is robust! Tandoori Hut is a humble joint, taking over from a diner attached to a motel. There is table service in a simple dining room, but we had take-out. The korma, kafta, and paneer dishes were all great, very mild spice level. Naan often gets soggy in take-out, so beware, but you can toast them back up at home. They use DoorDash for ordering and delivery. Dining room improvements or decor will make it a 5 star. read more

Take out on a Sunday evening. Pakora, Chicken Tikka Masala, garlic naan. Veg Pakora was crunchy and tasty but there were no sauces included. Maybe I missed where to order with the appetizer, but I did anticipate a Mint Chutney, Tamarind Chutney, yogurt, something... nothing! Chicken Tikka Masala was a bit thin on flavor and consistency. Chicken was tender and good. Sauce came off as a curry flavored tomato soup with very few, if any vegetables. Blah... Garlic naan was great! Basmati was fluffy, aromatic, and tasty. May give it another try when visiting family in Walker, but hoping they up their game when it comes to their main dishes. read more

wow WAS THAT GOOD BREAD!!@! I am telling everybody about this place. But why did they move from QUEENS to COMSTOCK PARK??????????????? I am worried because I live a mile down the road and Jane and I need a go to place after a hard day at our chiropractic office. After a couple places fail, the last one lasted a couple months (can't serve a farmer cold pancakes and eggs Bob) a place gets jinxed. I have owned four restaurants and a bakery on the West side making sour dough rye for the Jewish community. Been in People Magazine and was a celebrity chef in the 70's (Weird Beard himself, ta dah) Made a seven ciurse vegetarian dinner for Frampton when he had the number one album out. The chicken tiki masala is good but it's a tiny portion with very little chicken for the hefty 16$ price tag. The side of rice it come with is 3x bigger than the curry itself!! Absolutely ridiculous!!! I also got the cheese naan. This was the most disappointing part of the meal. It's was TINY with barely any cheese and I'm not even sure what kind of cheese it was but it was not good at all. Looked like ricotta cheese honestly. So beyond disappointed. I included pics with the smallest spoon I have in my house as a size reference. The handle of the spoon is the exact same size as a small Walgreens pill bottle lol. So very small. Honestly for the price go ANYWHERE else. There's much better Indian food here in GR for the same price of even less with much better portions. read more

The first time I ordered a delivery 6 weeks ago and it was awesome. It was tasty and had very generous servings. So 4 weeks later I ordered again. I was very disappointed the order was mostly sauce and very little meat. I called the restaurant and two days later the owner called and that same day delivered a new order himself. He was a very sincere and told me to call him anytime I order again and he would personally fill my order. The owners is very professional and customer accommodating. First timer to Indian cuisine. Excellent, very attentive server recommended Chicken Curry. It was excellent. More than enough to take home. Also tried some other chicken dish (cannot remember) which comes with a sweet sauce and a spicy sauce. Both very good. Spicy not too hot. Nice little burn. Nice ambience, but kind of loud. Just enjoyed the buffet at the Tandoori Hut in Comstock Park. Very good Naan, Butter Chicken, rice and another dish that had a yellow sauce that was wonderful also. The staff was friendly and happy to answer any questions that we had about the food. I took a look at the menu and it is big and has many items that sounded good. The food was so good and the timing of bringing out the dishes was great. I had the Chicken Saag mild spice and I could have gone a little spicier but I didn't want to chance it.
