Stopped into Tangled Hearts Bakery this past fall just to check the place out. I know it's a popular spot, but on the day we went it wasn't very busy. From what I understand, their business can be up and down, so you never quite know how much they'll have out. They're trying not to waste food, which I can appreciate. That said, I really liked the vibe of the place. It's warm and inviting, and it seems like a great stop on your way to Yosemite -- especially if you want coffee and something sweet. We picked up a cookie, and it was very good. They also had sourdough cookies, which sounded interesting, but we didn't get to try them. Maybe next time. The gentleman working there was friendly and helpful. I hope this place sticks around, because it's a nice little bakery with good people. Worth stopping in and giving it a try yourself. read more

I have been to this location many times. I love the consistency of this place. All of the ingredients are fresh and delicious. The pancakes are on point. I would die to have the pancake recipe as it tops everything I've ever tasted. The owners and their daughter offer the most welcoming ambiance. Located across the street from Firefall Ranch is a Tangled Hearts Cafe, a hidden gem about 15 miles west of the CA-120 entrance to Yosemite National Park. Don't let the modest exterior deter you from going inside, the Tangled Hearts Cafe has a myriad of breakfast dishes to choose from. The food is excellent and our host, Ledina, was great. I had the OG breakfast burrito stuffed with turkey sausage. If you saved room for sweets, the Tangled Heart offers plenty of treats and pastries. The Tangled Heart Cafe is a must stop when traveling to or from Yosemite! Just about every entree on the menu is priced under $20 pp but after drinks and taxes expect to pay over $20 pp. read more

I loved their Cafe so I decided to check out their bakery and take some goodies back to Southern California for my husband. I got 2 cranberry lemon muffins, 2 blueberry muffins, 2 sourdough cookies, an apple Danish and a few other items! Everything was amazing and the apple Danish is absolutely incredible. Now I know why the Cafe has such amazing desserts because they all come fresh from their bakery right down the street. What a great combo, a Cafe with fabulous food and an amazing bakery! Don't skip this little place and get there asap because I overheard the owner mention they're only open seasonally and this year (2019) they plan to "stay open as long as they can". Friends know I am not a fan of biscuits and gravy but since I made this trip without the man specimen I wanted to channel his love for B&G and placed a 1/2 order. You know what? The dish was Deeeeelicous with a capital D. Chunky sausage flavorful country gravy atop butter grilled fresh baked biscuits. Come on, what's not to love? This girl might have to change her mind about B&G. We also ordered a short stack of pancakes with bacon of course because bacon and buttermilk. Period. The only thing that would have made these better would be warm syrup and I bet if I asked nicely, they'd give it a couple seconds in the nuke machine. P-cakes and bacon were sublime. The bestie ordered "My Better Half" and judging from the empty plate, she enjoyed it just fine. Peeeeeeet's coffee served here. If nothing else, they have Peet's. A week without my beloved was torture, but I got my fix here and even if it wasn't Major Dickason's I was satisfied with the blend that day. You want cookies, scones or pastries? They bake 'em here. We refrained but now I'm craving one of those peanut butter cookies tied up pretty next to the coffee pots. You can get your Tie Dye fix here (made by local artists). Don't forget to put a pin in it...or on it, on your home city that is. Check out the "Where are you from" map, it's cool as all get out. No idea what that saying means but it sounds good. Friendly service, ample parking, easy to find with directions. No real bathroom, outhouse is all so if that bothers you do your business at home, hotel, B&B or elsewhere. No wi-fi either so I had to check in a couple miles away when the signal cleared. Forest, dig it? And p.s. homemade food takes time, so chillax while the geniuses are doing their thing in the kitchen. It's worth the wait. read more

My wife and I stopped here on our way to Yosemite and I'm so glad we did. We didn't realize it but we got there right at closing, but the gentleman working there assured us that we could still eat. We got two breakfast burritos to go and they were absolutely delicious. The staff were all so nice and it felt like eating at family's house. It's close to the park so it's worth the drive! Wow! What a nice surprise. After a morning flying over Yosemite with Yosemite Flights (See my other review), we were hungry and were recommended Tangled Hearts for breakfast. It's slightly off HWY 120 near Groveland. I would have missed it if I didn't hear about it. (I suggest bigger signage). The building is typical older mountain vibe. I didn't expect much from the outside appearance. BUT...the food selection, preparation, and taste is AMAZING! I had the smoked brisket breakfast burrito and my wife had the avocado croissant. Both were MIND BLOWING good. We were so full that we didn't partake in the delicious looking baked goods (Such as Apple Pie). But we will be swinging back by on our way out, of Yosemite for some more of their incredible food. read more

This place was amazing!! We stopped in here on our last day visiting Yosemite after getting a recommendation from our camp host. He said it was the best breakfast spot on the mountain and boy was he right! We were a group of 10 and even though it's a small place and family owned, all our food came out perfectly! We stopped by the cafe twice over the weekend because I wanted to try their biscuits & gravy, but given I wanted to be able to carry something hiking, I got the rafter burrito and my partner got the Class 5 burrito. They both had the gravy inside, but the Class 5 also had the biscuit. The sausage gravy is goooood in both of them and we knew we had to come back the next day to try them in their unadulterated states. We were in for an even more pleasant surprise because they had bacon and sausage in their gravy and hot damn that gravy is magnificent. It's this complexity of buttery richness with this slightly sweet tang that kept me guessing what kinda fat they put in it and how they pulled out some extra depth. This place has a cute name & close to Yosemite National Park. Stopped here because of the rave reviews and would say it's overrated. They were closed the first time we came by apparently due to an illness. They did not allow us to substitute sausage for bacon because my dear husband had already put in the wrong order literally 1 minute prior to me walking in. The burrito was just ok (mostly filled with potato, a very little cheese and bacon ) and came with what tasted like pace picante salsa. Overpriced for more than $10. Without the salsa, the burrito itself was very bland and dry. The port a potty does not have soap or hand sanitizer nor does the sink in the back which is gross considering it's a dining establishment. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

What a great find that a lot of the locals don't even know about! Small, friendly, family-run business with great breakfasts and baked goods. Everything homemade. We had "Green toast, eggs and ham" - the avocado toast was sprinkled with sesame seeds and everything spice - YUM! We also tried a delicious Veggie Scramble (more like a frittata), blueberry pancakes, and BISCUITS AND SAUSAGE GRAVY with eggs! Worth the indulgence. Took a few slices of scratch-made apple and peach pie to go. Indoor and outdoor seating, plus it seemed like lots of folks had placed phone orders to go. Was a great way to start a day of hiking at Yosemite. The Avocado Toast on the croissant was delicious. However my friend had the breakfast burrito and did not like all the chunks of potato. So maybe ask for less or none. Would love to see better coffee set up too. Hate using half a dozen tiny cups just to put in our landfill. Same with styrofoam. This place is a godsend. My friends and I were staying nearby in Groveland. That was the only place we had great WiFi and could look up potential eateries. Even though we were in the middle of nowhere, good food was still a necessity. Fortunately we stumbled upon Tangled Hearts Bakery, thanks to Yelp. Plenty of dirt lot parking here. Cute (and popular) little bakery with tons of delicious breakfast items. On our first trip we had giant breakfast burritos, which we couldn't even finish. I wasn't in the mood for baked goods at the time, but I should have tried some. Another day we tried to come, and they'd already stopped serving breakfast. The barista was super sweet and friendly, unlike the racist hotel owner where we were staying. Plus I like the "FREE WIFI" stickers on the packs of cards on each table. Clever. Love that there's also tons of local business cards and brochures that give you an idea of what's around town. I'll definitely be coming to Yosemite again, and I feel ahead of the game knowing the perfect place to stop for some baked goods, breakfast items, or beverages. The coffee here is delicious. We also brought our own card games to pass the time, which I'd generally recommend for any vacation. Love this bakery for being one of the highlights of our trip! read more

Tangled Hearts provided the dessert for our wedding this past June and, needless to say, all of our guests were raving about how delicious all the options were! The staff were also amazing people to work with and made the process of planning a wedding so easy. My husband and daughter had their famous breakfast burritos and LOVED them! I am gluten free and asked if they had GF toast. NO. Corn tortillas? NO. My breakfast was good if super simple (2 eggs over easy, bacon, fruit, and could-be-crispier hash browns). But, my biggest complaint is the throw-away utensils, plates, cups, even the half n half for the coffee. Nothing was reusable and the utensils were all wrapped in plastic. Come on! This is an excellent bakery and breakfast cafe. I recommend calling in your order if you are on the go. The staff were friendly and helpful. Just had a late breakfast this morning at Tangled Hearts Bakery in Groveland, CA. So delicious! We had their pastries here about a year ago and they were yummy. Decided to try their breakfast. We both loved our choices. I had the Hillbilly and my husband had the Two Egg Breakfast with the ham steak. Their biscuits and Tangled potatoes are yummy and the gravy is delicious. As many others have said...coming in from the Groveland side of Yosemite there is not much to choose from in terms of eats, but this was a great find! Set in a log cabin-ish looking building adjoining an outdoor outfitter, this place would be easy to zoom right past. We stopped there on our first morning in Yosemite to try and score a hearty breakfast before our day of hiking and touring. Decided on the biscuits and gravy platter and some coffee. Coffee was strong and very flavorful. The platter had the perfect pepper ratio giving the gravy a great kick. Biscuits were dense and "meaty" and went perfect with the gravy. Nice to sit out on the patio and watch the world wake up. I stayed in Groveland for 5 nights while visiting Yosemite Valley. The first morning there I had breakfast in the town of Groveland but on the next morning I stumbled upon Tangle Hearts Bakery!! Guess what I did for the next 4 mornings? Short stack pancakes breakfast on day 1, breakfast burrito on day 2, house corn beef hash on day 3, and finally Belgium waffles on day 4. Amelia is the baker and Steven is the chef, and boy oh boy do they make a good combination in the kitchen. You go in, order ANY item on the breakfast menu, they work their magic with a little bit of Tangled Hearts love, and what you get is a very delicious breakfast. I would recommend any item on the menu, but out of the ones I've tried the short stack pancakes and house corn beef hash tied for #1. One more thing, try Amy's biscuits! read more
