The interior is beautiful and modern. I really enjoyed my salad with chicken. My friend enjoyed his meal as well. The service was top notch. It was early in the evening on a Thursday when we had dinner so the restaurant was not busy. There is plenty of parking at the Arboretum of South Barrington. A great place to stop for lunch or dinner after a day of shopping.

First time checking out this newer location in the Tangled Roots family. I came in with a group of 4 other friends and we were thoroughly impressed with the menu options. We ordered a variety of appetizers and martinis. Each was delicious and very worthy of a return visit. Since coming in last month, I have definitely tried to inform others via word of mouth and loved to see an excellent happy hour option in the Arboretum. Standout martinis included the Naked and Famous and New French Martini. The appetizers were pretty standard pub food but all were well executed.

Happy Hour Review! Tangled Roots South Barrington has finally introduced their killer happy hour deals! How can one go wrong with $5 martinis, $4 beers, $3 wines, & 1/2 off appetizers! I visited with a group of five and was thoroughly impressed by everything they offered. You could not go wrong with a martini selection but my favorites were the New French Martini, Espresso Martini, and Naked & Almost Famous Martini. For bites, we explored quite a bit of the menu. My favorites were the Cauliflower Florets, Cheese Curds, & Loaded Tater Tots. The Drunken Wings also looked delicious but I didn't try any. The Arboretum was in need of more happy hour options and this is the perfect add! Service was a bit slow at the bar at times so I recommend counting on that when maximizing your time. Our server, Jose, did a great job on checking in on us, bring food out fresh, bringing our drinks as they were made, and making sure we didn't want anything more. Could not recommend more to visit for Happy Hour (M-F 3-5pm) as you can't beat it!

This spot seems to be a hot commodity for post work outings and that's exactly why I was here. A group of 6 of us stopped in on a weekday evening and I really enjoyed it. From start to finish service was great and timed out well. Our server was attentive and not overly attentive, just the way I like it! Drinks came out quick and our food came out at a reasonable time as well. Tangled roots is an elevated casual spot. I find it to be a great place to kick back and relax with the peeps you are with. I started out with 1 of their draft beers and would order it again. I'm writing this review late and sadly I forgot the name of the beer lol. What I do remember is it was light, crisp and had citrus notes to it. For food I ordered the TR burger, cooked medium, and had tater tots as my side. This is probably 1 of my favorite burgers AND sides. I'd order this every single time I'm here (which I have, haha). The burger was flavorful and juicy. Tater tots were crispy and was the perfect side to the TR burger.

Loved this place! The service, food, and beer were great!! We ordered beer flights so that was fun to try the different beers. They have some very unique ones- a lemon beer, apple beer, nitros, IPAs, etc. Definitely a variety! Ordered the fish tacos and they were delicious. The loaded tater tots and cheese curds were amazing and they give you a lot! The ambiance is bright and super cute/modern. We will be back!

It was pretty busy on a Friday night. We did have reservations, so we didn't have to wait. We had shared the Mozza Bella, which is a large square size of fresh mozzarella that is lightly breaded. The vodka sauce was on the bottom and there was plenty of sauce to have with every bite. I had the fish and chips (fries) with cole slaw. The fish was very light and cooked perfectly. The outside is beer battered and inside the Fish would fall apart really easily. The fries were delicious and came with a small cup of ketchup. I usually like to have pepper, but they didn't have salt and pepper on the table. The cole slaw had a few slices of red pepper, which all i could taste was the red pepper. Also, my friend had ordered an impossible BBQ burger and asked for no bacon, but the burger came out with bacon. She just picked it off. The manager did came by to apologize.

A nice option in South Barrington. Came here after visiting Goebberts down the road. I did not try any of the beers, just came for food this round. My kids got the kids buttered noodles and the chicken strips meals which I tasted both, the noodles were fine but the chicken tenders were weird, very breaded, almost dark, burnt looking pieces and honesntly didn't taste that great, my daughter didn't like it. I had the chicken club, although it was messy, it was a decent sandwich and the fries were good. The place is very nice and clean inside and the service was great. I would probably come back to try the drinks, but not rushing back for the food and if I did eat here again, I would try other options.

I am so excited Tangled Roots opened a location in the Arboretum of South Barrington. This space once held a French restaurant and then a breakfast/brunch spot. I had a fantastic first experience with friends. We did not have a reservation but we were seated immediately. I'm guessing you will definitely want to call ahead on a weekend night. Our server Juan was friendly and funny, and highlighted some options on the menu for us. I had a light, crisp apple hard cider and the citrus hummus with veggies and pita to start. For my meal, the beer can chicken salad. It was so fresh, flavor-filled and a large enough portion for two people. (Leftovers for lunch today. Yum)! Inside the restaurant is bright and relaxing with a lot of neutral tones. There are round half-moon shaped booths for seating. I look forward to warmer months when Tangled Roots can likely use the outside area in the cute little corner of the Arb. I would love to return and try a beer flight, grilled shrimp salad, or a burger. Great menu!

    Tacos

I finally had a chance to have dinner here, but unfortunately, I was not happy with my experience. I had burger and my friend had tacos. The orders came out incorrect, and the food was very greasy. I had an apricot wheat beer, which was outstanding, but I didn't care for the food at all.

Pulled pork grilled cheese. I added a side of fries but ate some before taking the picture.

Here for 1 night for work. Food was excellent, beer was fine (not a beer aficionado so this is the best rating I can give it)..I would definitely come back if I was in the area again.

I was looking forward to trying Tangled Roots location, but was a bit disappointed. I had read reviews regarding wait times, so I tried to secure a reservation on line, but the first available was in 2 hours, but we decided to try walking in. When we arrived the restaurant was more than half empty! Melissa was our server and was attentive and very friendly. My husband tried a Banana beer and enjoyed it. We started with the Boneless Cauliflower appetizer. It was very good, cauliflower sitting on top of a slaw with a spicy honey sauce. The cauliflower was cooked , so it was crunchy on the outside, but soft inside. It was very good, but the amount we received was not worth $16! We each had the tacos, I had the fish and my husband had the care asada. Each consisted of 3 taco, with a variety of slaws and aioli. The fish taco was small pieces of fish, which lacked flavor or texture. Each came with a side. I had the asparagus, which was excellent. When we received our check, I noticed we were charged extra for the asparagus even though a side was included. When I acquired, Melissa, shared some sides included an upcharge, but since she failed to let us know , she immediately said she would remove the charge, since we were not informed. Very nice service recovery. The aesthetics are nice, but remind me of the former brunch restaurant, and prices are high. The tacos were between$18-$20. Beers are good!

The deal is half off apps, but if you enjoy an adult beverage, the house-brewed drafts are also half off. M-Th 3-6pm, dine-in only. At least that's what it is right now. I feel like it changes, so maybe call beforehand to confirm. I only got pics of the nachos this time, which really doesn't do it full justice because they're bigger than they look in the photo. Food is always good and consistent, there's nothing really to complain about regarding service or prices, and parking has always been really easy, though that could be because we typically go on Tuesdays. I imagine weekends could be a little bit busier, but the place is pretty big, so even if you have to wait, I don't think that you'd be waiting that long. The vibe is also casual and low-key.

We came here on a Monday night (also Presidents' Day) so we were the only ones in there. I got a burger with sweet potato fries which was good but nothing to boast about. My husband got their chili cheese dog (also nothing to boast about) and their Chicago hot dog. He said the Chi dog was the best chi dog he's ever tasted and that the celery salt on the bun was a nice touch. The kids share some chicken nuggets and fries. They had games inside (connect four, giant jenga, etc.) and swings which makes it really fun. They also serve the food in dog bowls to which my daughter was really confused about lol.

There is a Ms. PacMan / Galaga game and a toy locker claw machine. Some yard games: Huge Jenga and two connect 4. There is a outdoor single swing anchored to the ceiling and two TV's on the wall. The food was served in dog bowls lined with paper. It was hard to eat the sandwiches because the bread was cut all the way through. I would have loved for them to cut the sandwich in half. It was a little awkward to eat. The Philly Steak sandwich was good but was not very full, it could have used more meat. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was good but would have been better with a little more meat. The Hot Motz were great - 8 for $7.99 which is a great price! I wanted to try the Poppin Pierogi but they did not have any... hopefully next time. I recommend giving this place a try. Especially if you have a dog and kids and are traveling or passing through the area during meal time! There was a beautiful sweet golden retriever chilling out in the fake grass (people watching - so cute) We will be back again and will most likely order burgers. #kidfriendly #dogfriendly
