Tankless Solutions was apparently sold to Monkey Wrench Plumbing. The tech that came over seemed knowledgeable but wound up recommending replacing my Takagi tankless vs repairing the unit. While the recommendation was probably justified due to the age of my tankless (13 yrs), the replacement costs and selling technique felt like a hard sell. When Phil was at the helm I felt no pressure to buy a whole new system or have expensive repairs done. This company didn't strike me the same way. My Noritz tankless water heater stopped working, of course on a Sunday. I could tell it was a small leak somewhere, but nothing big. I searched the Noritz website for authorized repair companies and started working my way down the list. The first company to come out said it was the heat exchanger and tried to sell me a brand new unit for a ridiculous amount of money (they, like their name, are bananas). I told them I wasnt interested, and I wanted to do a warranty repair since the heat exchanger was under warranty. They called Noritz with me and the warranty parts were approved. The guy tried to have it shipped to his company! Luckily I was standing there and told Noritz to send it to me. After I pushed, they gave me a price for the labor to replace the heat exchanger. It was almost as much as a new unit! After they left (I seriously dislike when people try to upsell you and pressure you during an emergency), I called Tankless Solutions and with a few pictures and some troubleshooting over the phone, Phil recognized that more parts were needed. He contacted Noritz on my behalf and Noritz provided them as part of the warranty claim. Phil gave me a workaround to help me use hot water while the parts were shipped. Once the parts arrived, his tech Stan came out the next morning and rebuilt the water heater with no fuss at all. Stan explained everything he was doing and how to maintain the unit better myself, and confirmed everything was working when he left. The best part is that Tankless Solutions did the work for 30% of what the other company wanted to charge me! I waited a week to write the review just in case there were any problems, but everything is great so far. I'll definitely be going with them the next time I need anything related to my water heater. Thank You Phil.... If you have a tankless water heater please avoid the headache and call Tankless Solutions. I have had bad experiences with other companies. Most of them will not even open up the unit, just tell you that you need to purchase a new one, and may charge you 100.00 just for coming out. I replaced my last unit after it wouldn't reheat, never knew it could be reset because everyone kept saying replace it. Monkey Wrench spent one week on my current unit trying to rebuild it, but could not get the unit to produce heat because they threw away some of my parts during the rebuild and I had to cancel the contract and still they charged me 97 for nothing. One week without hot water was a nightmare. Once I called Tankless Solutions they jumped right on it. I was worried about the 300.00 up front cost when I read other reviews with less than four stars, however it was well spent and at least they are really going to diagnose the unit. Called Tankless solutions to fix our Noritz tankless water heater about 6 weeks ago. We were quoted a very high price to repair our 4 year old tankless heater. We were even told that Noritz would void our warranty if the same problem happened again after he "reset" the error code. After calling Noritz directly we were told that they would never void a warranty and that the tech was flat out lying to us. Called this company who I had worked with before when Phil owned the company and he must have sold it to Monkey Wrench. Jonathan Bruse came out and said the unit located outside was an inside unit and the exhaust was wrong. He said the unit was full of rain water as he said we had rain that day. I was out of town so did not know it rained. He said the unit was toast and needed to be replaced and quoted me $6,800. I thought the price was very high and had another trusted plumber come out that actually service the building from day one. He said the unit was outside unit and correctly installed, no way rain can enter the unit through an upside down exhaust pipe. Opened up the unit and said the internal tank was leaking. I had him replace the unit for a total cost of $3,200. I also had another bid at $4,300. This Monkey Wrench company service techs don't know what they are talking about and try to up sell you. I had the unit professionally replaced the next day for less than half of what Monkey Wrench quoted. By the way Monkey Wrench called later the same day and offers a $500 discount and then called the next day and offered a $1,000 discount after I had the unit replaced for less than half of their quote. I used Miguel Perez (310) 561-6259 for the second quote and Jose Marban at (424) 389-6898 for the install. Phil is very knowledgeable and clearly knows what he is doing! I recently had a top of the line tankless heater installed by general plumber, however it wasn't properly configured. I was getting very bad results (3 minutes wait to water to its hottest in the farthest faucet); despite troubleshooting attempts with the plumber that sold me the solution I saw no improvements. I followed my gut that this wasn't ok, and gave Phil a call and he easily troubleshooted the situation over the phone and walked me over the adjustments to see the results I was expecting. What a difference! You have to appreciate a company that specializes in JUST one thing, this is not the typical do-it-all plumbing, these guys are clear experts in tankless. On 2/16 I spoke to someone at their call center and arranged for a technician to come out on 2/17 to address two tankless water heaters that were not working. I was told that I would get a follow up call the following day. On 2/17, I was told that I could expect someone between 3 and 6 pm. I reiterated that I needed someone to come out today because there was no hot water in the building. I also requested that the technician call me at least 30 min before arrival in case I'm not at the property. At 4:45, I get a call from them and they tell me that no one was available to address my water heater issue and that they were closed for the weekend. It was like... First of all, to the reviewers on here that have taken issue with Phil and his team's pricing and suggesting they attempt to charge for unnecessary service; I have to say that you've probably never gone through the effort to fix and diagnose one of these things yourself. Secondly, you seem more angry about the fact that your unit was broken and couldn't be easily fixed than you are at Phil and his team who do exactly what they say they are going to do. I had a situation where a plumber had come out and said my unit needed to be descaled to fix my issues. A quick check of the code it was throwing would have informed them that descaling would do nothing to fix it because my unit had an ignition problem. I took the unit partially apart and cleaned elements per Noritz's instructions, but that did not fix problem, so I called Tankless Solution and talked to Phil. I explained to him what was going on and the steps I had already taken at which point he did something caring and the exact opposite of being greedy. He suggested that since I had already done exactly what they would have done to that point that I save myself the money of having him buy the parts and coming out to install it. He talked me through how to acquire and install them myself. Quicker and cheaper. If he was another plumber, he would have gladly come out and charged me the $200+ just to show up and tell me what I already knew. Now, unfortunately my efforts did not fix the problem, so I called Phil back and he had a technician (Robert) out to the house the next day. Robert spent a lot of time cleaning burners, resetting solenoids, checking gas flow and talking to NORITZ to try and get the unit working. He kept me informed every step of the way. In the end it was decided that the unit needed a new circuit board. Once again Phil and I spent a good bit of time discussing options and various solutions, all to ensure that we had the best chance of getting it fixed at the lowest cost to me. I was a little bummed that Robert couldn't come back to complete the job, but Danny filled his shoes nicely the very next day when he installed the circuit board and set up al of the programming. Now, none of this was cheap, but it was a good value because I have confidence that every step was taken to make sure it was done right, and really you can't ask for more than that. So I have used this company to do the routine maintenance on my tankless unit and to install a Nuvo filtration unit. The Nuvo has never seemed to work that well, the water tasted better but we still got a lot of hard water spots on anything that got wet. Also it is fairly impossible for me to change the filter myself - I could never seem to relive the water pressure despite following exact instruction for the Nuvo. Gee, I wonder why? So the Nuvo sprung a bad water leak at 11 pm Saturday at night loudly spraying water out and I couldn't stop it. Gee, I wonder why? I had to turn off the house water. I texted them that I had an emergency leak and needed their help on a Sunday. Called them Sunday and texted them several times. No reply, No help. No Water. I got my regular plumber to come on Sunday who had to make a bypass because the Nuvo bypass was some how damaged inside the unit. Gee I wonder why?. And my plumber showed me what the real problem was, the water inflow was connected to the Nuvo outflow and out flow was connected to the Nuvo inflow !!! Oh Tankless Solution installed the water pipes incorrectly all this time - now it all makes perfect sense. What a bunch of idiots. And mind you several of their expert technicians have helped me change the filter several times and none of them ever mentioned this issue. SHAME ON YOU ! read more

I hired a prior plumber about my low water pressure (there was a ton of build up from the water), they told me that my 2 year old Noritz tankless water heater was pretty much shot and needed replacing because there wasn't a softener installed. It didn't make sense to me so I called Phil at Tankless Solutions. I booked an appointment via yelp. Phil responded quickly and booked an appointment rather quickly. On the day before I got a reminder call and text. So convenient! Then day of Robert, my technician, called and gave me a 15 min warning before he came. I found out the hard way that there are a lot of plumbing companies that say they service tankless water heaters but very few that actually know what they're doing. After getting burned by a previous tankless repair company that spent over 2hrs troubleshooting onsite and couldn't figure out the issue, Phil Hood at Tankless Solutions not only accurately diagnosed the problem right away, but he worked with the manufacturer to get them to warranty the parts and cover a good portion of the services to rebuild it. Unfortunately my tankless water heater malfunctioned with multiple error codes and went out right during the holidays when we were hosting dinner for 16+ people at the house, so timing was less than ideal.. These guys were great though and scheduled a service call right away. Robert did the repair/rebuild. Unlike the previous company that came out, he didn't have to look at a manual or call back to the office for help or look things up online on his phone. He knew the equipment inside and out; from navigating the user interface to understanding the error codes, all of the components, typical issues with that model, etc. I was blown away, total subject matter expert! Called for an intermittent problem. Dealt with them 2 years earlier to gut the current machine. They did and now more problems. They did 2 items which were not necessary and didn't fix the problem. They have been guessing but saying "this will fix the problem" which none of it has. Now $2000 later I'm still having same issue and they said it's not their problem! We asked on the last fix if we replace this part will they guarantee it'll work now and the owner's answer was "no I can't do that, if I did that to my clients I'd be out of business" WTF?!? Contacted TS and they were immediately helpful ... giving me a preliminary diagnosis on the phone from my explanation of my situation and the error codes my system was showing. They ordered the necessary parts then came out to repair my tankless. The tech, Eddie, did a great job ... very neat and efficient, took him about an hour to the work, cleanup and get on his way. Eddie answered questions without hesitation, clearly explaining technical and maintenance details.
