They were good but the chips were stale. The Caesar wrap was HUGE and my 14 year old daughter could only eat half. The spicy chicken sandwich was good, not great. The food here is a solid 2-3/10. The pancakes were hyped so much on Instagram and yelp, so we were excited to try them. They looked amazing on arrival. The first bite was the biggest disappointment. So dense/chewy and tasted like EGG. Not fluffy, not the pancakes I expected. The truffle Mac and cheese lacked seasoning. Cheesy, yes. But how does cheese lack that much salt? This place has been on my must try list for some time now. So I'm glad I finally got to check it out during a recent trip to the city. My mother and I stopped in for a weekday brunch, and couldn't have been happier with our choice. We were waited upon quickly once seated, and our sever provided us with great cocktail recommendations. Maggie's May, and Smuggler's War. Both cocktails were phenomenal! For our brunch dishes we chose, Thai Deviled Eggs, Jerk Oxtail Arancini and Smashed Avocado Toast. Each dish was delicious but the avocado toast was the star of the show. The avo toast is customizable to your liking and they do not skimp on the toppings. Overall we had a great experience and wonderful service. This is such a nice place for brunch! Located in midtown, you're met with an awesome place that transport you back to the 20's. The staff is super friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed the food like their chicken and waffles and double cheeseburger. I really wanted to try their famous Bee pollen pancakes, but sadly they didn't have them that week I visited. However, I was able to try their hot skillet pancake instead, which was also delicious. They also have a great bottomless brunch deal that is worth checking out. The overall feel of the restaurant is amazing. Great vibes as soon as you walk in. The bar area is a little loud, but a great time. There is seating in the back which is much quieter to enjoy your meal. The food was very fast to come out to us, and tasted amazing. All of the staff were very polite and very on top of things. There was live music by the front which was great and while we were a little further back, it was quiet but we still heard the music which was a nice touch. We started with The Gunshot and Pearl Button for drinks, both we sweet but tasty. For food we split the truffle Mac and cheese and hot chicken sandwich. The sandwich was 5/5,l but you have to order fries separately -- definitely recommend the sweet potato fries. The Mac and cheese tasted good but was way too oily for me. This place was definitely a find! I went to Tanner Smith's for pre-theatre drinks and I was not disappointed. It has a fantastic speakeasy vibe (I like places like that). There are all sorts of whiskeys to choose from. I did not eat, but the menu choices looked delicious. The TVs were on, but they were showing Charlie Chaplin movies. How cool is that? This was my second attempt to go to Tanner Smith's and I can honestly say this will be the last time. My Birthday was yesterday, Tuesday, March 8th. I reached out to the place on Sunday and asked if I needed to make a reservation as I couldn't book a reservation anywhere. As can be seen in the email correspondence, I was told "I'll be able to walk right in and get a table." and that they "rarely have to wait for tables and if they do, it will be brief." Meanwhile, I am arriving yesterday at 6:30 to a jam-packed bar due to a private event which I was not told of when I received my email response on Sunday, and being told the wait will be an hour long for 2 people. Miss Kendell, Manager of the place at that time, not only showed ZERO effort to accommodate my ahead-of-time request and try to find an appropriate solution, she literally asked me without any shame: "Do you wanna walk around the bar and see for yourself if you can find a place?". REALLY? A manager of the place. Imagine that. When I showed her my correspondence about just showing up and being able to walk right in and get a table, she responded "Well, I didn't send this email." Apparently, Marissa, who sent the email, has nothing to do with the property. Never in my life have I experienced such rude and extremely unprofessional behavior towards a customer. I have done my part by trying to book a place for my Birthday way ahead of time. This is NYC and I could've gone anywhere else. I chose this bar because that's where I wanted to spend my Birthday. Great spot in midtown near the 57/7th subway and great to go when you're near Times Square or after a Broadway show! I have been multiple times for their Sunday brunch with live music and this was my first time going for dinner. They have a great selection of cocktails that I highly recommend trying (if you're a mezcal fan I loved the raspberry mezcal drink which had a spicy kick to it too!). They call themselves a speakeasy, but one glance is all it takes to see that there is nothing discreet about this bar; flashing lights, loud music (during non-COVID times), and drunk patrons abound. On my most recent visit with a couple of friends during COVID, we called in advance for an outdoor table and lucked out as a table was just clearing out. The outdoor set-up is cute and lively, and decently spaced apart. The service was just a bit disorganized, but everyone was very friendly and helpful. We ordered multiple cocktails, all very tasty. Don't miss the Tipsy Teas ($25), which come in an adorable teapot along with two teacups. The food was better than your average bar food. Toni got the smoked cheeseburger with regular fries. Her fries were really good, hot and crispy and good potato flavor. Mine were okay but lacked seasoning. The veggie burger is house made and delicious. Just a little squishy. No bits escaped. Toni ate her entire burger. For dessert, carrot cake. The presentation was amazing. The cake delicious. Not too sweet with a good balance of tanginess from the cream cheese frosting. Service was amazing. Our server was funny and attentive. My friend and I ordered the mezze platter to share which came with lots of pita bread and three dips: hummus, white bean and truffle, and eggplant. The white bean and truffle dip was to-die-for, but I wish there was more of it--there was too much bread and too little dip. The Cotes du Rhone wine was nice. For cocktails, the Gutshot and Pearl Button were super novel to me. I enjoyed the hazelnut cream on top of the refreshing coffe liquer in the Gutshot. The Pearl Button felt like a margarita with amped up smokiness, also pretty good. They seem to be pretty popular for the big crowds. read more

The restaurant was dimly lit and had a great environment for hanging out. My friend and I shared the hot chicken and waffles and the Brussels sprouts hash. Hot chicken and waffles: The waiter asked if we would like the chicken hot, which of course we did. It was the perfect amount of heat (around a 6.5/10). The butter was also spicy and they were generous with the amount. Waffles were nice and fluffy. The dish was perfectly filling. Brussels sprouts hash: Mainly Brussels sprouts with small cubes of potato mixed in (90% brussels sprouts). It was not heavy but it did end up feeling a bit greasy towards the end. They had a creme fraiche at the bottom which helped cut down on the oil but def needed more. We originally wanted to try out the Bee Pollen Buttermilk Pancakes but they were sold out so come early if you're looking to get that! Overall, great place in midtown! read more

First time here, came for brunch for my birthday and this place is fantastic. It was beyond my expectation. They have a jazz band that plays from 12-3pm which sounded great and was a very nice touch. I love the atmosphere, it was a very cool vibe. Cocktail bar/speakeasy, playing Charlie Chaplin on the tvs. We started off with the tipsy tea, specifically Paloma, I highly recommend it. At first I was skeptical of having tequila first thing in the day but with the lime juice and grapefruit soda it lightened it up and it was delicious. Good for 2 people. For food I ordered the fried egg and bacon Sammy, let me tell you, it was one of The best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had! A nice touch could be some added avocado. But the chipotle Mayo was delicious. The only thing I was a little bit annoyed about was that we ordered a side of egg whites which I would thinks means literally just a small plate with egg whites but instead they gave us a whole other meal which was an added $17. However, I will say the upside of that was that I got to try their fried truffle grits which were to die for! I could eat those all day. It was also very nice of them I got to try their warm chocolate cake for my birthday dessert with a candle in it for my birthday, then the band started playing happy birthday for me. By the way if you pay full in cash you get 3% off your bill. This place is a bit on the pricey side but after all it is NYC. What place isn't over priced in the city. $10 for French fries is a little bit excessive. So expect to spend a decent amount here. I will definitely be back here and highly recommend it to anyone. We ordered a bunch of appetizers; everything pretzels, two orders of wings (buffalo and a sweet chili), buffalo spring rolls and guac and salsa before each ordering our main dishes. Everything was delicious. For mains we got 2 hot chicken sandwiches , 2 chicken tacos, a cheese burger. All the food looked good, but my order of the chicken tacos were very good, they give you an option of 3 or 4, and honestly, 3 is enough if you get appetizers. The service was good, the food was very good, the drinks were very very good. If they ask you if you want the rum punch, you do. If they ask you if you want the mezcal cocktail, you do. What an experience! I was definitely not expecting to have as much fun as I did at Tanner Smiths. It was jam packed around 11:00pm on Sunday and the sound of live music was alive and well when we walked in. Dimly lit and oozing of a speakeasy vibe, this was a perfect end to our night. We went with the Always Look Back drink which is served in a kettle and is for 2 people. It was awesome! The matcha and mint was exceptionally paired with gin. The service was on point as we were able to grab two seats at the bar. The people watching here was even better!
