This is a decent Tanner's location. The chicken "lips", burgers, tots and fries are their strong suit. Today I made the mistake of straying into their Mexican offerings. I had the chicken taco special. It was pretty bad. They use ground chicken, which is not to my taste. I should have known better. The salsa is also pretty bad. Oh, and the chocolate cake, also not good. They drizzle Hershey's chocolate syrup over it for some reason which makes it extra bad. So why 3 stars? They have a very personable server in Rain. She made our dining experience fun. That counts for lot in my book. Also, this bad lunch was partially my fault. Tanner's does fried bar food well. We ended up at Tanners when the place we wanted to go to was closed. Large bar with lots of tvs for sports. We got the wings and a pork tenderloin. The wings were okay, however 3 of the 10 took char buffed to a new level and we're completely charcoal - burnt beyond edible. The tenderloin was good, the only compliant was after having pretty slow service all night, when the waitress asked if we were ready for the ticket and we said yes, she whipped all of the food up before I could stop her. So I guess I won't finish the half of my food that was still on my plate? I was able to grab back my unfinished beer at least! Low Yelp ratings from previous Yelpers at Tanners Bar and Grill. The former location was a Twin Peaks restaurant where I really liked their chicken fried steak recipe. Seating is pretty open, sit where you want concept. I picked a booth. Tap beer prices are very reasonable but be wary of ordering wings and getting a fifty cent wing sauce charge, never heard of this from local vendors. The chicken Philly sandwich was average in presentation and taste. I had to use the spicy wing sauce to give it a stronger flavor taste. My side salad was average, bacon bits were too hard, felt as if I was biting hard particles when consuming the salad. The service was very good though, wish there was a balance of the service and food quality. Overall, a nice place to catch a sporting event and have bar food available. I wish there was a hot dish that was unique that would cause me to visit more often. read more

Zero stars!! Been coming to Tanners for years and everything has gone down hill! Several staff members stand around in a corner chatting, drinking and looking at their phones while people wait to be greeted!! They don't put down coasters for your drinks, they don't notice when your drink is low.... My husband food was cold. This place is great for service watching games and the food. Bonnie welcomed us in on our first night in town with great service and a great smile. We came for the basketball games and drinks and comfortable bar stools and Bonnie. We came back every night as we are from out of town working. On Wednesday night we came in and Bonnie took care of us for the first half of our visist then she had to leave. Then we had Matt. We thought Matt was ok but later we found out that Matt lied to us on how we were tipping the bartenders that had left saying he would share the tips and that was never the case. I would not give Matt any extra money for tips. read more

Good atmosphere, decent bar food, poor service. We ordered food for pick up and carry out. We were told 30 minutes. A little unusual for pre dinner rush on a late Sunday afternoon, but not a big deal, we weren't in a rush. We gave it 35 min. Upon entry, we had to track someone down for help in picking it up. There were only a small handful of patrons. The food was ready, but not packed up. My son waited a few more minutes for the final preparation. When we got it home, it appeared that one of the burgers specifically ordered with no cheese had cheese on it. We called them back and upon explaining what the situation was, we were asked what we wanted. We wanted a replacement. The order taker stated they had to check with their manager. After a brief wait, I was told: paraphrased "OK, we can replace it, but bring the food back in to take back to the kitchen" 1. Why would someone have to check with a manager for a simple fix? The servers should have the authority or power to make these small decisions. Poor service mistake. 2. Bring the food back in? OK, I have never had this happen with an incorrect take out order before, but no big deal. We weren't going to eat it anyway. We certainly weren't out to get a free meal, especially with the trouble of having to make a return trip. When I entered the restaurant that was mostly vacant, I awkwardly stood near the entry holding the returned meal. No one was there to greet me or offer help. One server was waiting on the few tables that had patrons, one was behind the bar popping food in their mouth, another was standing behind the bar and appeared to be looking at their phone, another was standing at the doorway to the kitchen. Eventually one came out and was slowly walking between the tables to check on the guests. They got to where I was standing and was about ready to pass by my eye contact until I stopped them with a polite "excuse me" and explained my situation. They checked with the server behind the bar that was eating and asked if I wanted a replacement. "Yes please", whereupon they took the box back to the kitchen. Less than a minute later they brought the box back out and explained that it wasn't cheese, it was the sauce. To my embarrassment, they were correct, and I apologized. The original error was on my part, and I own up to that. The handling of this apparent error was where the service failed. If it were my business, regardless if it was customer error, I would have offered to remake the meal so it would be hot and fresh, rather than sending it back after having made 2 trips already between the restaurant and my home. I can't imagine the cold food on top of the poor service makes for a good impression. read more

I decided on a late night snacking with my keto diet I needed to order something filling but low carb. I found Tanner's made chard wings. I ordered via door dash and received my order 35 minutes later. The wings were chard extra like I asked for and tasted great. They were generous in size and still piping hot. At 9:55 we asked to order food and was informed by the rude manager that the kitchen closes at 10:00 and they would not serve us. But the service is slow, highly understaffed, and I give them the benefit of the doubt because of the climate we live in. We had to clear our own tables, by throwing our own bottles and cans away in the community trash can... However, the wings I ordered, 10 wings, for 16 dollars, came out dry AF. So I AM going to trash the kitchen staff. If you can't handle the capacity, close off part of your restaurant. They are acting like this is acceptable and it is driving business away. When Tanner's opened this location in the former Twin Peaks in Lakeside Plaza we were happy to see it as we had been going to the Tanners on 192nd & Q where service had gotten steadily worse and it was like buying a lottery ticket as to whether you were going to get a competent server. At first I thought that with Oscar's across the Parkening lot from this Lakeside Tanner's they would give Oscar's a real run for their money. But Oscar's has nothing to worry about. The poor service and prevalent "I really don't give a damn" attitude has made the short trip over from Q Street. Now I fully realize that with the global pandemic and ensuing zombie apocalypse it is horribly difficult to find people to work and I truly appreciate those who do show up and I feel strongly that we all deserve a little grace right now. But let me be blunt, while I appreciate the efforts you are making to staff and stay open and even to stay in business during these challenging times, I would also like to feel appreciated as someone who ventures out and tries to support restaurants and bars right now. Recently we went to Tanners for dinner and saw that a table was open on the patio. Since seating is self service, we grabbed it and then I went inside to let an employee know that we had taken a table outside so she would be able to let a server know She looked at me like she wasn't really sure why I was even telling her. I went back outside and a server was waiting on the other table out on the patio, but a different server, Melanie, came walking out and asked us what we'd like to drink. We ordered a couple of beers and she turned on her heel so fast and started back inside that my wife blurted out that we would take some water too. While we were looking at the menu she brought our beers after a few minutes and walked away saying she'd be back with water. A few minutes later she came out with one glass of water, never asking if I wanted one to and without a word she put it on the table, turned and walked back inside. At that point we decided to wait 5 minutes to see if she'd be back or not. I was 30 seconds away from dropping money on the table for the beer and walking off when she reappeared. She asked what we wanted to eat, we ordered and she abruptly turned and walked off. At this point she had not said more than 20 words to us. Long story even longer, I put out my credit card so when the food came she would cash us out since I was done dealing with her attitude. Getting the bill was the fastest part of the evening. Normally I won't tip less than 20% and during these abnormal times I've been trying to leave larger tips because with a son who's a chef I know how underpaid and overworked restaurant workers are and I want to show my appreciation. I didn't leave 20% this time. It's disappointing because while Tanner's food is average bar food for average prices it's a neighborhood place that could be so much more with just a modicum of effort. I'm not even mad at Melanie because she's simply symbolic of poor management. The culture for any business starts at the top and they set the tone. Hopefully they will improve and maybe we'll hear from someone that they've gotten better, but until that time there are plenty of other places to spend our money and to support their efforts. read more
