I wish I could give a higher ranking but I didn't have a good experience coming here. I came to have a HH beer but happy hour ends at 5 pm apparently (I mean who can go before 5 if you have to work?), then the woman who attended us was having an attitude (every time we asked to try just a little of a draft before ordering she seemed annoyed - sorry I want to try it before ordering a pint?) and the beer is $9. I'm giving it 2 stars because I was able to bring my dog. Not coming back.

Great drinks. Cool people. Chill vibe. Would come back again. Extra words to meet 85 characters.

Cool local bar. I like it because it's not all pretentious it's just a good comfortable place to have a drink. Friendly bartender friendly bar. When I'm in the area this will be my drinking hole. Don't just walk past come in check it out. I recommend

Ruth giving us the middle finger.

*BARTENDER STOLE OUR MONEY* This will sound fabricated but it's (unfortunately) a true story. My family is visiting from out of town and decided to have a drink at Tap a Keg on Monday evening. The older woman bartending that evening was not only extremely rude, but vulgar. She appeared to be intoxicated for the duration of our encounter - giving us the middle finger, swearing at us, and even grabbing her own crotch at one point. We had a $20 bill on the bar which she promptly grabbed and threw into her tip jar. Sidebar: this place is also unsanitary. Ruth scoops the ice with her grimy fingers. Never again.

The menu is quite lengthy and there is a wide variety of options. The trivia was fun, too. While it was certainly challenging, it wasn't impossible. Rather than having an emcee, it was all on the TV screens, so pay attention! We all preferred this, since it didn't interrupt the flow of our conversation.

I have to say.. In my opinion these are the BEST beef sliders on the Upper Westside hands down. I mean I've tried a few different spots up here and these are the ones so far.. They have flavor, cooked to perfection and I love that they're served on Brioche mini buns.. This makes a big difference for me. Almost reminds me of "Pop Burgers" downtown, which is no longer around. So yeah.. Looking for some good sliders or bar food in general this spot hits! Chicken Fingers were on point too as was the Hot dog and Tots.. All together it was a great time. The waitress was super cool, attentive and accommodating. As far as ambiance, it was chill. Some cool music playing in the background at an easy level. Not blasting. Folks chatting amongst their friends. Overall a great time, with good company and delicious bites! So if you're looking for a cool spot with tasty bites at a good price pull up to Dive Bar on 96th and Amsterdam. You'll have a great time! Have a great one yall! -Ray

The bartender is friendly and offers tastings, a unique feature compared to most other bars in Manhattan. I really like their selection of sour beers in particular. The vibe is like a sports bar, but you can find spots to have a decent conversation without a ton of rowdiness that comes with watching sports games. There are small bites for appetizers, including veggie nuggets, tater tots, and french fries. The dishes are well priced between $6-7 dollars and provide a nice snack to supplement the drinking.
